Lamentations 3

मैं एक ऐसा व्यक्ति हूँ जिसने बहुतेरी यातनाएँ भोगी है; यहोवा के क्रोध के तले मैंने बहुतेरी दण्ड यातनाएँ भोगी है!

I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

यहोवा मुझको लेकर के चला और वह मुझे अन्धेरे के भीतर लाया न कि प्रकाश में।

He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

यहोवा ने अपना हाथ मेरे विरोध में कर दिया। ऐसा उसने बारम्बार सारे दिन किया।

Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.

उसने मेरा मांस, मेरा चर्म नष्ट कर दिया। उसने मेरी हड्डियों को तोड़ दिया।

My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.

यहोवा ने मेरे विरोध में, कड़वाहट और आपदा फैलायी है। उसने मेरी चारों तरफ कड़वाहट और विपत्ति फैला दी।

He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.

उसने मुझे अन्धेरे में बिठा दिया था। उसने मुझको उस व्यक्ति सा बना दिया था जो कोई बहुत दिनों पहले मर चुका हो।

He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.

यहोवा ने मुझको भीतर बंद किया, इससे मैं बाहर आ न सका। उसने मुझ पर भारी जंजीरें घेरी थीं।

He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

यहाँ तक कि जब मैं चिल्लाकर दुहाई देता हूँ, यहोवा मेरी विनती को नहीं सुनता है।

Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.

उसने पत्थर से मेरी राह को मूंद दिया है। उसने मेरी राह को विषम कर दिया है।

He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.

यहोवा उस भालू सा हुआ जो मुझ पर आक्रमण करने को तत्पर है। वह उस सिंह सा हुआ हैं जो किसी ओट में छुपा हुआ हैं।

He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.

यहोवा ने मुझे मेरी राह से हटा दिया। उसने मेरी धज्जियाँ उड़ा दीं। उसने मुझे बर्बाद कर दिया है।

He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.

उसने अपना धनुष तैयार किया। उसने मुझको अपने बाणों का निशाना बना दिया था।

He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

मेरे पेट में बाण मार दिया। मुझ पर अपने बाणों से प्रहार किया था।

He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

मैं अपने लोगों के बीच हंसी का पात्र बन गया। वे दिन भर मेरे गीत गा—गा कर मेरा मजाक बनाते है।

I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

यहोवा ने मुझे कड़वी बातों से भर दिया कि मैं उनको पी जाऊँ। उसने मुझको कड़वे पेयों से भरा था।

He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

उसने मेरे दांत पथरीली धरती पर गडा दिये। उसने मुझको मिट्टी में मिला दिया।

He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.

मेरा विचार था कि मुझको शांति कभी भी नहीं मिलेगा। अच्छी भली बातों को मैं तो भूल गया था।

And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.

स्वयं अपने आप से मैं कहने लगा था, “मुझे तो बस अब और आस नहीं है कि यहोवा कभी मुझे सहारा देगा।”

And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:

हे यहोवा, तू मेरे दुखिया पन याद कर, और यह कि कैसा मेरा घर नहीं रहा। याद कर उस कड़वे पेय को और उस जहर को जो तूने मुझे पीने को दिया था।

Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

मुझको तो मेरी सारी यातनाएँ याद हैं और मैं बहुत ही दु:खी हूँ।

My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

किन्तु उसी समय जब मैं सोचता हूँ, तो मुझको आशा होने लगती हैं। मैं ऐसा सोचा करता हूँ:

This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

यहोवा के प्रेम और करुणा का तो अत कभी नहीं होता। यहोवा की कृपाएं कभी समाप्त नहीं होती।

It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

हर सुबह वे नये हो जाते हैं! हे यहोवा, तेरी सच्चाई महान है!

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

मैं अपने से कहा करता हूँ, “यहोवा मेरे हिस्से में है। इसी कारण से मैं आशा रखूँगा।”

The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

यहोवा उनके लिये उत्तम है जो उसकी बाट जोहते हैं। यहोवा उनके लिये उत्तम है जो उसकी खोज में रहा करते हैं।

The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

यह उत्तम है कि कोई व्यक्ति चुपचाप यहोवा की प्रतिक्षा करे कि वह उसकी रक्षा करेगा।

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

यह उत्तम है कि कोई व्यक्ति यहोवा के जुए को धारण करे, उस समय से ही जब वह युवक हो।

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

व्यक्ति को चाहिये कि वह अकेला चुप बैठे ही रहे जब यहोवा अपने जुए को उस पर धरता है।

He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

उस व्यक्ति को चाहिये कि यहोवा के सामने वह दण्डवत प्रणाण करे। सम्भव है कि कोई आस बची हो।

He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

उस व्यक्ति को चाहिये कि वह आपना गाल कर दे, उस व्यक्ति के सामने जो उस पर प्रहार करता हो। उस व्यक्ति को चाहिये कि वह अपमान झेलने को तत्पर रहे।

He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

उस व्यक्ति को चाहिये वह याद रखे कि यहोवा किसी को भी सदा—सदा के लिये नहीं बिसराता।

For the Lord will not cast off for ever:

यहोवा दण्ड देते हुए भी अपनी कृपा बनाये रखता है। वह अपने प्रेम और दया के कारण अपनी कृपा रखता है।

But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

यहोवा कभी भी नहीं चाहता कि लोगों को दण्ड दे। उसे नहीं भाता कि लोगों को दु:खी करे।

For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

यहोवा को यह बातें नहीं भाती है: उसको नहीं भाता कि कोई व्यक्ति अपने पैरों के तले धरती के सभी बंदियों को कुचल डाले।

To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

उसको नहीं भाता है कि कोई व्यक्ति किसी व्यक्ति को छले। कुछ लोग उसके मुकदमें में परम प्रधान परमेश्वर के सामने ही ऐसा किया करते है।

To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,

उसको नहीं भाता कि कोई व्यक्ति अदालत में किसी से छल करे। यहोवा को इन में से कोई भी बात नहीं भाती है।

To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

जब तक स्वयं यहोवा ही किसी बात के होने की आज्ञा नहीं देता, तब तक ऐसा कोई भी व्यक्ति नहीं है कि कोई बात कहे और उसे पूरा करवा ले।

Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

बुरी—भली बातें सभी परम प्रधान परमेश्वर के मुख से ही आती हैं।

Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?

कोई जीवित व्यक्ति शिकायत कर नहीं सकता जब यहोवा उस ही के पापों का दण्ड उसे देता है।

Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

आओ, हम अपने कर्मो को परखें और देखँ, फिर यहोवा के शरण में लौट आयें।

Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

आओ, स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर के लिये हम हाथ उठायें और अपना मन ऊँचा करें।

Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

आओ, हम उससे कहें, “हमने पाप किये हैं और हम जिद्दी बने रहे, और इसलिये तूने हमको क्षमा नहीं किया।

We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.

तूने क्रोध से अपने को ढांप लिया, हमारा पीछा तू करता रहा है, तूने हमें निर्दयतापूर्वक मार दिया!

Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

तूने अपने को बादल से ढांप लिया। तूने ऐसा इसलिये किया था कि कोई भी विनती तुझ तक पहुँचे ही नहीं।

Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.

तूने हमको दूसरे देशों के लिये ऐसा बनाया जैसा कूड़ा कर्कट हुआ करता हैं।

Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

हमारे सभी शत्रु हमसे क्रोध भरे बोलते हैं।

All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

हम भयभीत हुए हैं हम गर्त में गिर गये हैं। हम बुरी तरह क्षतिग्रस्त है! हम टूट चुके हैं!”

Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

मेरी आँखों से आँसुओं की नदियाँ बही! मैं विलाप करता हूँ क्योंकि मेरे लोगों का विनाश हुआ है!

Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

मेरे नयन बिना रूके बहते रहेंगे! मैं सदा विलाप करता रहूँगा!

Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,

हे यहोवा, मैं तब तक विलाप करता रहूँगा जब तक तू दृष्टि न करे और हम को देखे! मैं तब तक विलाप ही करता रहूँगा जब तक तू स्वर्ग से हम पर दृष्टि न करे!

Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.

जब मैं देखा करता हूँ जो कुछ मेरी नगरी की युवतियों के साथ घटा तब मेरे नयन मुझको दु:खी करते हैं।

Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.

जो लोग व्यर्थ में ही मेरे शत्रु बने है, वे घूमते हैं मेरी शिकार की फिराक में, मानों मैं कोई चिड़िया हूँ।

Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.

जीते जी उन्होंने मुझको घड़े में फेंका और मुझ पर पत्थर लुढ़काए थे।

They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

मेरे सिर पर से पानी गुज़र गया था। मैंने मन में कहाँ, “मेरा नाश हुआ।”

Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.

हे यहोवा, मैंने तेरा नाम पुकारा। उस गर्त के तल से मैंने तेरा नाम पुकारा।

I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

तूने मेरी आवाज़ को सुना। तूने कान नहीं मूंद लिये। तूने बचाने से और मेरी रक्षा करने से नकारा नहीं।

Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

जब मैंने तेरी दुहाई दी, उसी दिन तू मेरे पास आ गया था। तूने मुझ से कहा था, “भयभीत मत हो।”

Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

हे यहोवा, मेरे अभियोग में तूने मेरा पक्ष लिया। मेरे लिये तू मेरा प्राण वापस ले आया।

O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

हे यहोवा, तूने मेरी विपत्तियाँ देखी हैं, अब मेरे लिये तू मेरा न्याय कर।

O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.

तूने स्वयं देखा है कि शत्रुओं ने मेरे साथ कितना अन्याय किया। तूने स्वयं देखा है उन सारे षड़यंत्रों को जो उन्होंने मुझ से बदला लेने को मेरे विरोध में रचे थे।

Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.

हे यहोवा, तूने सुना है कि वे मेरा अपमान कैसे करते हैं। तूने सुना है उन षड़यंत्रों को जो उन्होंने मेरे विरोध में रचाये।

Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their imaginations against me;

मेरे शत्रुओं के वचन और विचार सदा ही मेरे विरुद्ध रहे।

The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

देखो यहोवा, चाहे वे बैठे हों, चाहे वे खड़े हों, कैसे वे मेरी हंसी उड़ाते हैं!

Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

हे यहोवा, उनके साथ वैसा ही कर जैसा उनके साथ करना चाहिये! उनके कर्मो का फल तू उनको दे दे!

Render unto them a recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.

उनका मन हठीला कर दे! फिर अपना अभिशाप उन पर डाल दे!

Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.

क्रोध में भर कर तू उनका पीछा कर! उन्हें बर्बाद कर दे! हे यहोवा, आकाश के नीचे से तू उन्हें समाप्त कर दे!

Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD.
