Luke 1

Понеже мнозина предприеха да съчинят повест за съвършено известните между нас събития,

Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,

както ни ги предадоха онези, които отначало са били очевидци и служители на словото,

Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;

видя се добре и на мен, който изследвах подробно всичко от началото, да ти пиша наред, почтени Теофиле,

It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

за да познаеш достоверността на това, в което си бил поучаван.

That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

В дните на юдейския цар Ирод имаше един свещеник от отряда на Авия на име Захария. Жена му беше от дъщерите на Аарон и се наричаше Елисавета.

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judæa, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

Те и двамата бяха праведни пред Бога, като ходеха непорочно във всичките Господни заповеди и наредби.

And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Но нямаха дете, защото Елисавета беше безплодна, а и двамата бяха в напреднала възраст.

And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

И когато той изпълняваше свещеническата си служба пред Бога по реда на своя отряд,

And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

според свещеническия обичай на него се падна по жребий да влезе в Господния храм и да кади.

According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

А в часа на каденето цялото множество от народа се молеше навън.

And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

И тогава му се яви Господен ангел, като стоеше отдясно на кадилния олтар.

And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

А когато Захария го видя, се смути и го обзе страх.

And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

Но ангелът му каза: Не се бой, Захария, защото твоята молитва е чута и жена ти Елисавета ще ти роди син, когото ще наречеш Йоан.

But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Той ще ти бъде за радост и веселие; и мнозина ще се зарадват за неговото раждане.

And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

Защото ще бъде велик пред Господа; вино и спиртно питие няма да пие; и ще се изпълни със Свети Дух още в майчината си утроба.

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

И ще обърне мнозина от израилевите синове към Господа, техния Бог.

And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

Той ще върви пред лицето Му в духа и силата на Илия, за да обърне сърцата на бащите към децата и непокорните – към мъдростта на праведните, за да приготви за Господа подготвен народ.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

А Захария каза на ангела: По какво ще узная това? Защото аз съм стар, а и жена ми е в напреднала възраст.

And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

Ангелът в отговор му каза: Аз съм Гавриил, който стои пред Бога, и съм изпратен да ти говоря и да ти благовестя това.

And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

И ето, ти ще онемееш и няма да можеш да говориш до деня, когато всичко това се сбъдне, защото не повярва на думите ми, които ще се изпълнят своевременно.

And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

А народът чакаше Захария и се чудеше защо се бави в храма.

And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

А когато излезе, той не можеше да им говори; и те разбраха, че е видял видение в храма, защото той им правеше знаци и оставаше ням.

And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

И когато свършиха дните на службата му, той си отиде у дома.

And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

А след тези дни жена му Елисавета зачена; и се криеше пет месеца, като казваше:

And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

Така ми стори Господ в дните, когато погледна милостиво, за да премахне пред хората причината да ме корят.

Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

А в шестия месец ангел Гавриил беше изпратен от Бога в галилейския град, наречен Назарет,

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

при една девица, сгодена за мъж на име Йосиф, от Давидовия дом; а името на девицата беше Мария.

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

И когато ангелът дойде при нея, каза: Здравей, благодатна! Господ е с теб, (благословена си ти между жените).

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

А тя много се смути от думите му и недоумяваше какъв ли ще е този поздрав.

And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

И ангелът й каза: Не се бой, Мария, защото си придобила Божията благодат.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

И ето, ще заченеш в утробата си и ще родиш Син, когото ще наречеш Иисус.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Той ще бъде велик и ще се нарече Син на Всевишния; и Господ Бог ще Му даде престола на баща Му Давид.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

Ще царува над якововия дом до века; и царството Му не ще има край.

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

А Мария каза на ангела: Как ще бъде това, тъй като не познавам мъж?

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

И ангелът в отговор й каза: Светият Дух ще дойде върху теб и силата на Всевишния ще те осени; затова и Онова Святото, което ще се роди от теб, ще се нарече Божият Син.

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Ето, и твоята роднина Елисавета, за която се казваше, че е безплодна, и тя в старините си е заченала син и е вече в шестия месец.

And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

Защото за Бога няма нищо невъзможно.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

А Мария каза: Ето Господната слугиня; нека ми бъде, както ти си казал. И ангелът си отиде от нея.

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

През тези дни Мария стана и отиде бързо към хълмистата страна, в един юдейски град,

And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

и влезе в къщата на Захария и поздрави Елисавета.

And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

А когато Елисавета чу поздрава на Мария, бебето в утробата й заигра; и Елисавета се изпълни със Светия Дух,

And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

и като извика със силен глас, каза: Благословена си ти между жените и благословен е плодът на твоята утроба!

And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

И откъде ми е това – да дойде при мен майката на моя Господ?

And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Защото ето, щом стигна гласът на твоя поздрав до ушите ми, бебето заигра радостно в утробата ми.

For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

И блажена е тази, която е повярвала, че ще се сбъдне казаното й от Господа.

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

И Мария каза: Величае душата ми Господа

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

и зарадва се духът ми в Бога, Спасителя мой.

And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

Защото погледна на ниското положение на Своята слугиня; и ето, отсега нататък ще ме облажават всички родове.

For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

Защото Силният извърши за мен велики дела и свято е Неговото Име.

For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

И от родове в родове Неговата милост е върху онези, които Му се боят.

And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

Той извърши силни дела със Своята мишца. Разпръсна онези, които са горделиви в мислите на сърцето си.

He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Свали владетели от престолите им и издигна смирени.

He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

Гладни напълни с блага, а богати отпрати празни.

He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

Помогна на слугата Си Израил, за да напомни за Своята милост,

He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;

както бе говорил на бащите ни, към Авраам и към неговото потомство до века.

As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

И Мария, след като стоя при нея около три месеца, се върна у дома си.

And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

А на Елисавета се навърши времето да роди и тя роди син.

Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

И когато съседите и роднините й чуха, че Господ показал към нея велика милост, се радваха заедно с нея.

And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

И на осмия ден дойдоха, за да обрежат детенцето и щяха да го нарекат Захария, по името на баща му.

And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

Но майка му в отговор каза: Не, той ще се нарече Йоан.

And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

А те й рекоха: Няма никой в рода ти, който да се нарича с това име.

And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

Тогава запитаха баща му със знаци как би искал той да го нарекат.

And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

А той поиска дъсчица и написа: Йоан Е името му. И те всички се зачудиха.

And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

И веднага устата му се отвори и езикът му се развърза, и той проговори, и благославяше Бога.

And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

И страх обзе всичките им съседи; и за всичко това се говореше по цялата хълмиста земя на Юдея.

And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judæa.

И всички, които чуха това, го пазеха в сърцата си, казвайки: Какво ли ще бъде това дете? И ръката на Господа беше с него.

And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

Тогава баща му Захария се изпълни със Свети Дух и пророкува, казвайки:

And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

Благословен Господ, Израилевият Бог, защото посети Своя народ и извърши изкупление за него.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

И въздигна рог на спасение за нас в дома на слугата Си Давид,

And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

както е говорил чрез устата на светите Си пророци от вековете,

As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

спасение от неприятелите ни и от ръката на всички, които ни мразят;

That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

да покаже милост към бащите ни и да си спомни Своя свят завет,

To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

клетвата, с която се закле на баща ни Авраам:

The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

да ни даде, на нас, които сме освободени от ръката на неприятелите ни, да Му служим без страх,

That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

в святост и правда пред Него през всичките си дни.

In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

Да! И ти, детенце, пророк на Всевишния ще се наречеш; защото ще вървиш пред лицето на Господа, за да приготвиш пътищата за Него,

And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

за да дадеш на Неговия народ да познае спасение чрез прощаване на греховете им,

To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

поради милосърдието на нашия Бог, с което ни посети Зора отгоре,

Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,

за да осияе седящите в тъмнина и в сянка на смъртта; и да насочи краката ни в пътя на мира.

To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

А детето растеше и укрепваше по дух; и беше в пустините до деня, когато се яви на Израил.

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
