Matthew 26

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,

Dupăce a isprăvit Isus toate cuvîntările acestea, a zis ucenicilor Săi:

Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

,,Ştiţi că după două zile vor fi Paştele; şi Fiul omului va fi dat ca să fie răstignit!``

Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

Atunci preoţii cei mai de seamă, cărturarii şi bătrînii norodului s'au strîns în curtea marelui preot care se numea Caiafa;

And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

şi s'au sfătuit împreună, cum să prindă pe Isus cu vicleşug, şi să -L omoare.

But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

Dar ziceau: ,,Nu în timpul praznicului, ca să nu se facă turburare în norod.``

Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

Cînd era Isus în Betania, în casa lui Simon leprosul,

There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

s'a apropiat de El o femeie cu un vas de alabastru cu mir foarte scump; şi, pe cînd sta El la masă, ea a turnat mirul pe capul Lui.

But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

Ucenicilor le -a fost necaz, cînd au văzut lucrul acesta, şi au zis: ,,Ce rost are risipa aceasta?

For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

Mirul acesta s'ar fi putut vinde foarte scump, şi banii să se dea săracilor.``

When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

Cînd a auzit Isus, le -a zis: ,,De ce faceţi supărare femeii? Ea a făcut un lucru frumos faţă de Mine.

For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

Pentrucă pe săraci îi aveţi totdeauna cu voi, dar pe Mine nu Mă aveţi totdeauna.

For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

Dacă a turnat acest mir pe trupul Meu, ea a făcut lucrul acesta în vederea pregătirii Mele pentru îngropare.

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

Adevărat vă spun că ori unde va fi propovăduită Evanghelia aceasta, în toată lumea, se va spune şi ce a făcut femeia aceasta, spre pomenirea ei.``

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,

Atunci unul din cei doisprezece, numit Iuda Iscarioteanul, s'a dus la preoţii cei mai de seamă,

And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

şi le -a zis: ,,Ce vreţi să-mi daţi, şi -L voi da în mînile voastre?`` Ei i-au cîntărit treizeci de arginţi.

And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

Din clipa aceea, Iuda căuta un prilej nimerit, ca să dea pe Isus în mînile lor.

Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

În ziua dintîi a praznicului Azimilor, ucenicii au venit la Isus, şi I-au zis: ,,Unde vrei să-Ţi pregătim să mănînci Paştele?``

And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

El le -a răspuns: ,,Duceţi-vă în cetate la cutare om, şi spuneţi -i: ,,Învăţătorul zice: ,Vremea Mea este aproape; voi face Paştele cu ucenicii Mei în casa ta.``

And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

Ucenicii au făcut cum le poruncise Isus, şi au pregătit Paştele.

Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

Seara, Isus a şezut la masă cu cei doisprezece ucenici ai Săi.

And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

Pe cînd mîncau, El a zis: ,,Adevărat vă spun că unul din voi Mă va vinde.``

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

Ei s'au întristat foarte mult, şi au început să -I zică unul după altul: ,,Nu cumva sînt eu, Doamne?``

And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

Drept răspuns, El le -a zis: ,,Cel ce a întins cu Mine mîna în blid, acela Mă va vinde.

The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

Negreşit, Fiul omului Se duce după cum este scris despre El. Dar vai de omul acela prin care este vîndut Fiul omului! Mai bine ar fi fost pentru el să nu se fi născut!``

Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

Iuda, vînzătorul, a luat cuvîntul, şi I -a zis: ,,Nu cumva sînt eu, Învăţătorule?`` ,,Da``, i -a răspuns Isus, ,,tu eşti!``

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

Pe cînd mîncau ei, Isus a luat o pîne; şi după ce a binecuvîntat, a frînt -o, şi a dat -o ucenicilor, zicînd: ,,Luaţi, mîncaţi; acesta este trupul Meu.``

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

Apoi a luat un pahar, şi, după ce a mulţămit lui Dumnezeu, li l -a dat, zicînd: ,,Beţi toţi din el;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

căci acesta este sîngele Meu, sîngele legămîntului celui nou, care se varsă pentru mulţi, spre iertarea păcatelor.

But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Vă spun că, de acum încolo nu voi mai bea din acest rod al viţei, pînă în ziua cînd îl voi bea cu voi nou în Împărăţia Tatălui Meu.``

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

După ce au cîntat cîntarea, au ieşit în muntele Măslinilor.

Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

Atunci Isus le -a zis: ,,În noaptea aceasta, toţi veţi găsi în Mine o pricină de poticnire; căci este scris: ,Voi bate Păstorul, şi oile turmei vor fi risipite.`

But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

Dar, după ce voi învia, voi merge înaintea voastră în Galilea.``

Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

Petru a luat cuvîntul, şi I -a zis: ,,Chiar dacă toţi ar găsi în Tine o pricină de poticnire, eu niciodată nu voi găsi în Tine o pricină de poticnire.``

Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

,,Adevărat îţi spun``, i -a zis Isus, ,,că tu, chiar în noaptea aceasta, înainte ca să cînte cocoşul, te vei lepăda de Mine de trei ori.``

Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

Petru I -a răspuns: ,,Chiar dacă ar trebui să mor cu Tine, tot nu mă voi lepăda de Tine.`` Şi toţi ucenicii au spus acelaş lucru.

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

Atunci Isus a venit cu ei într'un loc îngrădit, numit Ghetsimani, şi a zis ucenicilor: ,,Şedeţi aici pînă Mă voi duce colo să Mă rog.``

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

A luat cu El pe Petru şi pe cei doi fii ai lui Zebedei, şi a început să Se întristeze şi să se mîhnească foarte tare.

Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

Isus le -a zis atunci: ,,Sufletul Meu este cuprins de o întristare de moarte; rămîneţi aici, şi vegheaţi împreună cu Mine.``

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Apoi a mers puţin mai înainte, a căzut cu faţa la pămînt, şi S'a rugat, zicînd: ,,Tată, dacă este cu putinţă, depărtează dela Mine paharul acesta! Totuş nu cum voiesc Eu, ci cum voieşti Tu.``

And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Apoi a venit la ucenici, i -a găsit dormind, şi a zis lui Petru: ,,Ce, un ceas n'aţi putut să vegheaţi împreună cu Mine!

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Vegheaţi şi rugaţi-vă, ca să nu cădeţi în ispită; duhul, în adevăr, este plin de rîvnă, dar carnea este neputincioasă.``

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

S'a depărtat a doua oară, şi S'a rugat, zicînd: ,,Tată, dacă nu se poate să se îndepărteze de Mine paharul acesta, fără să -l beau, facă-se voia Ta!``

And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

S'a întors iarăş la ucenici, şi i -a găsit dormind; pentrucă li se îngreuiaseră ochii de somn.

And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

I -a lăsat din nou, S'a depărtat, şi S'a rugat a treia oară, zicînd aceleaşi cuvinte.

Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Apoi a venit la ucenici, şi le -a zis: ,,Dormiţi de acum şi odihniţi-vă!.. Iată că a venit ceasul ca Fiul omului să fie dat în mînile păcătoşilor.

Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

Sculaţi-vă, haidem să mergem; iată că se apropie vînzătorul.``

And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

Pe cînd vorbea El încă, iată că vine Iuda, unul din cei doisprezece, cu o gloată mare, cu săbii şi cu ciomege, trimeşi de preoţii cei mai de seamă şi de bătrînii norodului.``

Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

Vînzătorul le dăduse semnul acesta: ,,Pe care -l voi săruta eu, acela este; să puneţi mîna pe el!``

And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

Îndată, Iuda s'a apropiat de Isus, şi I -a zis: ,,Plecăciune, Învăţătorule!`` Şi L -a sărutat.

And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

Isus i -a zis: ,,Prietene, ce ai venit să faci, fă!`` Atunci oamenii aceia s'au apropiat, au pus mînile pe Isus, şi L-au prins.

And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

Şi unul din ceice erau cu Isus, a întins mîna, a scos sabia, a lovit pe robul marelui preot, şi i -a tăiat urechea.

Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

Atunci Isus i -a zis: ,,Pune-ţi sabia la locul ei; căci toţi ceice scot sabia, de sabie vor pieri.

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

Crezi că n'aş putea să rog pe Tatăl Meu, care Mi-ar pune îndată la îndemînă mai mult de douăsprezece legiuni de îngeri?

But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

Dar cum se vor împlini Scripturile, cari zic că aşa trebuie să se întîmple?``

In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

În clipa aceea, Isus a zis gloatelor: ,,Aţi ieşit ca după un tîlhar, cu săbii şi cu ciomege, ca să Mă prindeţi. În toate zilele şedeam în mijlocul vostru, şi învăţam norodul în Templu, şi n'aţi pus mîna pe Mine.

But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

Dar toate aceste lucruri s'au întîmplat ca să se împlinească cele scrise prin prooroci.`` Atunci toţi ucenicii L-au părăsit şi au fugit.

And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

Ceice au prins pe Isus, L-au dus la marele preot Caiafa, unde erau adunaţi cărturarii şi bătrînii.

But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

Petru L -a urmat de departe, pînă la curtea marelui preot; apoi a intrat înlăuntru, şi a şezut jos cu aprozii, ca să vadă sfîrşitul.

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

Preoţii cei mai de seamă, bătrînii şi tot Soborul căutau vre -o mărturie mincinoasă împotriva lui Isus, ca să -L poată omorî.

But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

Dar n'au găsit niciuna, măcar că s'au înfăţişat mulţi martori mincinoşi. La urmă au venit doi,

And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

şi au spus: Acesta a zis: ,,Eu pot să stric Templul lui Dumnezeu şi să -l zidesc iarăş în trei zile.``

And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

Marele preot s'a sculat în picioare, şi I -a zis: ,,Nu răspunzi nimic? Ce mărturisesc aceştia împotriva Ta?``

But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

Isus tăcea. Şi marele preot a luat cuvîntul şi I -a zis: ,,Te jur, pe Dumnezeul cel viu, să ne spui dacă eşti Hristosul, Fiul lui Dumnezeu.``

Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

,,Da``, i -a răspuns Isus, ,,sînt! ,,Ba mai mult, vă spun că de acum încolo veţi vedea pe Fiul omului şezînd la dreapta puterii lui Dumnezeu, şi venind pe norii cerului.``

Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

Atunci marele preot şi -a rupt hainele, şi a zis: ,,A hulit! Ce nevoie mai avem de martori? Iată că acum aţi auzit hula Lui.

What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

Ce credeţi?`` Ei au răspuns: ,,Este vinovat să fie pedepsit cu moartea.``

Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

Atunci L-au scuipat în faţă, L-au bătut cu pumnii, şi L-au pălmuit,

Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

zicînd: ,,Hristoase, prooroceşte-ne-cine Te -a lovit?``

Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

Petru însă şedea afară în curte. O slujnică a venit la el, şi i -a zis: ,,Şi tu erai cu Isus Galileanul!``

But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

Dar el s'a lepădat înaintea tuturor, şi i -a zis: ,,Nu ştiu ce vrei să zici.``

And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

Cînd a ieşit în pridvor, l -a văzut o altă slujnică, şi a zis celor de acolo: ,,Şi acesta era cu Isus din Nazaret.``

And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

El s'a lepădat iarăş, cu un jurămînt, şi a zis: ,,Nu cunosc pe omul acesta!``

And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

Peste puţin, cei ce stăteau acolo, s'au apropiat, şi au zis lui Petru: ,,Nu mai încape îndoială că şi tu eşti unul din oamenii aceia, căci şi vorba te dă de gol.``

Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

Atunci el a început să se blastăme şi să se jure, zicînd: ,,Nu cunosc pe omul acesta!`` În clipa aceea a cîntat cocoşul.

And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Şi Petru şi -a adus aminte de vorba, pe care i -o spusese Isus: ,,Înainte ca să cînte cocoşul, te vei lepăda de Mine de trei ori.`` Şi a ieşit afară şi a plîns cu amar.
