Matthew 26

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,

इन सब बातों के कह चुकने के बाद यीशु अपने शिष्यों से बोला,

Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

“तुम लोग जानते हो कि दो दिन बाद फसह पर्व है। और मनुष्य का पुत्र शत्रुओं के हाथों क्रूस पर चढ़ाये जाने के लिए पकड़वाया जाने वाला है।”

Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

तब प्रमुख याजक और बुज़ुर्ग यहूदी नेता कैफ़ा नाम के प्रमुख याजक के भवन के आँगन में इकट्ठे हुए।

And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

और उन्होंने किसी तरकीब से यीशु को पकड़ने और मार डालने की योजना बनायी।

But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

फिर भी वे कह रहे थे, “हमें यह पर्व के दिनों नहीं करना चाहिये नहीं तो हो सकता है लोग कोई दंगा फ़साद करें।”

Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

यीशु जब बैतनिय्याह में शमौन कोढ़ी के घर पर था

There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

तभी एक स्त्री सफेद चिकने, स्फटिक के पात्र में बहुत कीमती इत्र भर कर लायी और उसे उसके सिर पर उँडेल दिया। उस समय वह पटरे पर झुका बैठा था।

But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

जब उसके शिष्यों ने यह देखा तो वे क्रोध में भर कर बोले, “इत्र की ऐसी बर्बादी क्यों की गयी?

For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

यह इत्र अच्छे दामों में बेचा जा सकता था और फिर उस धन को दीन दुखियों में बाँटा जा सकता था।”

When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

यीशु जान गया कि वे क्या कह रहे हैं। सो उनसे बोल, “तुम इस स्त्री को क्यों तंग कर रहे हो? उसने तो मेरे लिए एक सुन्दर काम किया है

For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

क्योंकि दीन दुःखी तो सदा तुम्हारे पास रहेंगे पर मैं तुम्हारे साथ सदा नहीं रहूँगा।

For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

उसने मेरे शरीर पर यह सुगंधित इत्र छिड़क कर मेरे गाड़े जाने की तैयारी की है।

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

मैं तुमसे सच कहता हूँ समस्त संसार में जहाँ कहीं भी सुसमाचार का प्रचार-प्रसार किया जायेगा, वहीं इसकी याद में, जो कुछ इसने किया है, उसकी चर्चा होगी।”

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,

तब यहूदा इस्करियोती जो उसके बारह शिष्यों में से एक था, प्रधान याजकों के पास गया और उनसे बोला,

And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

“यदि मैं यीशु को तुम्हें पकड़वा दूँ तो तुम लोग मुझे क्या दोगे?” तब उन्होंने यहूदा को चाँदी के तीस सिक्के देने की इच्छा जाहिर की।

And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

उसी समय से यहूदा यीशु को धोखे से पकड़वाने की ताक में रहने लगा।

Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

बिना ख़मीर की रोटी के उत्सव के पहले दिन यीशु के शिष्यों ने पास आकर पूछा, “तू क्या चाहता है कि हम तेरे खाने के लिये फ़सह भोज की तैयारी कहाँ जाकर करें?”

And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

उसने कहा, “गाँव में उस व्यक्ति के पास जाओ और उससे कहो, कि गुरु ने कहा है, ‘मेरी निश्चित घड़ी निकट है, मैं तेरे घर अपने शिष्यों के साथ फ़सह पर्व मनाने वाला हूँ।’”

And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

फिर शिष्यों ने वैसा ही किया जैसा यीशु ने बताया था और फ़सह पर्व की तैयारी की।

Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

दिन ढले यीशु अपने बारह शिष्यों के साथ पटरे पर झुका बैठा था।

And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

तभी उनके भोजन करते वह बोला, “मैं सच कहता हूँ, तुममें से एक मुझे धोखे से पकड़वायेगा।”

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

वे बहुत दुखी हुए और उनमें से प्रत्येक उससे पूछने लगा, “प्रभु, वह मैं तो नहीं हूँ! बता क्या मैं हूँ?”

And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

तब यीशु ने उत्तर दिया, “वही जो मेरे साथ एक थाली में खाता है मुझे धोखे से पकड़वायेगा।

The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

मनुष्य का पुत्र तो जायेगा ही, जैसा कि उसके बारे में शास्त्र में लिखा है। पर उस व्यक्ति को धिक्कार है जिस व्यक्ति के द्वारा मनुष्य का पुत्र पकड़वाया जा रहा है। उस व्यक्ति के लिये कितना अच्छा होता कि उसका जन्म ही न हुआ होता।”

Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

तब उसे धोखे से पकड़वानेवाला यहूदा बोल उठा, “हे रब्बी, वह मैं नहीं हूँ। क्या मैं हूँ?” यीशु ने उससे कहा, “हाँ, ऐसा ही है जैसा तूने कहा है।”

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

जब वे खाना खा ही रहे थे, यीशु ने रोटी ली, उसे आशीश दी और फिर तोड़ा। फिर उसे शिष्यों को देते हुए वह बोला, “लो, इसे खाओ, यह मेरी देह है।”

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

फिर उसने प्याला उठाया और धन्यवाद देने के बाद उसे उन्हें देते हुए कहा, “तुम सब इसे थोड़ा थोड़ा पिओ।

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

क्योंकि यह मेरा लहू है जो एक नये वाचा की स्थापना करता है। यह बहुत लोगों के लिये बहाया जा रहा है। ताकि उनके पापों को क्षमा करना सम्भव हो सके।

But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

मैं तुमसे कहता हूँ कि मैं उस दिन तक दाखरस को नहीं चखुँगा जब तक अपने परम पिता के राज्य में तुम्हारे साथ नया दाखरस न पी लूँ।”

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

फिर वे फ़सह का भजन गाकर जैतून पर्वत पर चले गये।

Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

फिर यीशु ने उनसे कहा, “आज रात तुम सब का मुझमें से विश्वास डिग जायेगा। क्योंकि शास्त्र में लिखा है: ‘मैं गडेरिये को मारूँगा और रेवड़ की भेड़ें तितर बितर हो जायेंगी।’ जकर्याह 13:7

But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

पर फिर से जी उठने के बाद मैं तुमसे पहले ही गलील चला जाऊँगा।”

Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

पतरस ने उत्तर दिया, “चाहे सब तुझ में से विश्वास खो दें किन्तु मैं कभी नहीं खोऊँगा।”

Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

यीशु ने उससे कहा, “मैं तुझ में सत्य कहता हूँ आज इसी रात मुर्गे के बाँग देने से पहले तू तीन बार मुझे नकार चुकेगा।”

Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

तब पतरस ने उससे कहा, “यदि मुझे तेरे साथ मरना भी पड़े तो भी तुझे मैं कभी नहीं नकारूँगा।” बाकी सब शिष्यों ने भी वही कहा।

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

फिर यीशु उनके साथ उस स्थान पर आया जो गतसमने कहलाता था। और उसने अपने शिष्यों से कहा, “जब तक मैं वहाँ जाऊँ और प्रार्थना करूँ, तुम यहीं बैठो।”

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

फिर यीशु पतरस और जब्दी के दो बेटों को अपने साथ ले गया और दुःख तथा व्याकुलता अनुभव करने लगा।

Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

फिर उसने उनसे कहा, “मेरा मन बहुत दुःखी है, जैसे मेरे प्राण निकल जायेंगे। तुम मेरे साथ यहीं ठहरो और सावधान रहो।”

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

फिर थोड़ा आगे बढ़ने के बाद वह धरती पर झुक कर प्रार्थना करने लगा। उसने कहा, “हे मेरे परम पिता यदि हो सके तो यातना का यह प्याला मुझसे टल जाये। फिर भी जैसा मैं चाहता हूँ वैसा नहीं बल्कि जैसा तू चाहता है वैसा ही कर।”

And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

फिर वह अपने शिष्यों के पास गया और उन्हें सोता पाया। वह पतरस से बोला, “सो तुम लोग मेरे साथ एक घड़ी भी नहीं जाग सके?

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

जगते रहो और प्रार्थना करो ताकि तुम परीक्षा में न पड़ो। तुम्हारा मन तो वही करना चाहता है जो उचित है किन्तु, तुम्हारा शरीर दुर्बल है।”

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

एक बार फिर उसने जाकर प्रार्थना की और कहा, “हे मेरे परम पिता, यदि यातना का यह प्याला मेरे पिये बिना टल नहीं सकता तो तेरी इच्छा पूरी हो।”

And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

तब वह आया और उन्हें फिर सोते पाया। वे अपनी आँखें खोले नहीं रख सके।

And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

सो वह उन्हें छोड़कर फिर गया और तीसरी बार भी पहले की तरह उन ही शब्दों में प्रार्थना की।

Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

फिर यीशु अपने शिष्यों के पास गया और उनसे पूछा, “क्या तुम अब भी आराम से सो रहे हो? सुनो, समय आ चुका है, जब मनुष्य का पुत्र पापियों के हाथों सौंपा जाने वाला है।

Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

उठो, आओ चलें। देखो, मुझे पकड़वाने वाला यह रहा।”

And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

यीशु जब बोल ही रहा था, यहूदा जो बारह शिष्यों में से एक था, आया। उसके साथ तलवारों और लाठियों से लैस प्रमुख याजकों और यहूदी नेताओं की भेजी एक बड़ी भीड़ भी थी।

Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

यहूदा ने जो उसे पकड़वाने वाला था, उन्हें एक संकेत देते हुए कहा कि जिस किसी को मैं चूमूँ वही यीशु है, उसे पकड़ लो,

And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

फिर वह यीशु के पास गया और बोला, “हे गुरु!” और बस उसने यीशु को चूम लिया।

And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

यीशु ने उससे कहा, “मित्र जिस काम के लिए तू आया है, उसे कर।” फिर भीड़ के लोगों ने पास जा कर यीशु को दबोच कर बंदी बना लिया।

And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

फिर जो लोग यीशु के साथ थे, उनमें से एक ने तलवार खींच ली और वार करके महायाजक के दास का कान उड़ा दिया।

Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

तब यीशु ने उससे कहा, “अपनी तलवार को म्यान में रखो। जो तलवार चलाते हैं वे तलवार से ही मारे जायेंगे।

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

क्या तुम नहीं सोचते कि मैं अपने परम पिता को बुला सकता हूँ और वह तुरंत स्वर्गदूतों की बारह सेनाओं से भी अधिक मेरे पास भेज देगा?

But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

किन्तु यदि मैं ऐसा करूँ तो शास्त्रों की लिखी यह कैसे पूरी होगी कि सब कुछ ऐसे ही होना है?”

In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

उसी समय यीशु ने भीड़ से कहा, “तुम तलवारों, लाठियों समेत मुझे पकड़ने ऐसे क्यों आये हो जैसे किसी चोर को पकड़ने आते हैं? मैं हर दिन मन्दिर में बैठा उपदेश दिया करता था और तुमने मुझे नहीं पकड़ा।

But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

किन्तु यह सब कुछ घटा ताकि भविष्यवक्ताओं की लिखी पूरी हो।” फिर उसके सभी शिष्य उसे छोड़कर भाग खड़े हुए।

And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

जिन्होंने यीशु को पकड़ा था, वे उसे कैफ़ा नामक महायाजक के सामने ले गये। वहाँ यहूदी धर्मशास्त्री और बुजुर्ग यहूदी नेता भी इकट्ठे हुए।

But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

पतरस उससे दूर-दूर रहते उसके पीछे-पीछे महायाजक के आँगन के भीतर तक चला गया। और फिर नतीजा देखने वहाँ पहरेदारों के साथ बैठ गया।

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

महायाजक समूची यहूदी महासभा समेत यीशु को मृत्यु दण्ड देने के लिए उसके विरोध में कोई अभियोग ढूँढने का यत्न कर रहे थे।

But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

पर ढूँढ नहीं पाये। यद्यपि बहुत से झूठे गवाहों ने आगे बढ़ कर झूठ बोला। अंत में दो व्यक्ति आगे आये

And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

और बोले, “इसने कहा था कि मैं परमेश्वर के मन्दिर को नष्ट कर सकता हूँ और तीन दिन में उसे फिर बना सकता हूँ।”

And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

फिर महायाजक ने खड़े होकर यीशु से पूछा, “क्या उत्तर में तुझे कुछ नहीं कहना कि वे लोग तेरे विरोध में यह क्या गवाही दे रहे हैं?”

But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

किन्तु यीशु चुप रहा। फिर महायाजक ने उससे पूछा, “मैं तुझे साक्षात परमेश्वर की शपथ देता हूँ, हमें बता क्या तू परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है?”

Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

यीशु ने उत्तर दिया, “हाँ, मैं हूँ। किन्तु मैं तुम्हें बताता हूँ कि तुम मनुष्य के पुत्र को उस परम शक्तिशाली की दाहिनी ओर बैठे और स्वर्ग के बादलों पर आते शीघ्र ही देखोगे।”

Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

महायाजक यह सुनकर इतना क्रोधित हुआ कि वह अपने कपड़े फाड़ते हुए बोला, “इसने जो बातें कही हैं वे परमेश्वर की निन्दा में जाती हैं। अब हमें और गवाह नहीं चाहिये। तुम सब ने परमेश्वर के विरोध में कहते, इसे सुना है।

What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

तुम लोग क्या सोचते हो?” उत्तर में वे बोले, “यह अपराधी है। इसे मर जाना चाहिये।”

Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

फिर उन्होंने उसके मुँह पर थूका और उसे घूँसे मारे। कुछ ने थप्पड़ मारे और कहा,

Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

“हे मसीह! भविष्यवाणी कर कि वह कौन है जिसने तुझे मारा?”

Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

पतरस अभी नीचे आँगन में ही बाहर बैठा था कि एक दासी उसके पास आयी और बोली, “तू भी तो उसी गलीली यीशु के साथ था।”

But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

किन्तु सब के सामने पतरस मुकर गया। उसने कहा, “मुझे पता नहीं तू क्या कह रही है।”

And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

फिर वह डयोढ़ी तक गया ही था कि एक दूसरी स्त्री ने उसे देखा और जो लोग वहाँ थे, उनसे बोली, “यह व्यक्ति यीशु नासरी के साथ था।”

And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

एक बार फिर पतरस ने इन्कार किया और कसम खाते हुए कहा, “मैं उस व्यक्ति को नहीं जानता।”

And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

थोड़ी देर बाद वहाँ खड़े लोग पतरस के पास गये और उससे बोले, “तेरी बोली साफ बता रही है कि तू असल में उन्हीं में से एक है।”

Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

तब पतरस अपने को धिक्कारने और कसमें खाने लगा, “मैं उस व्यक्ति को नहीं जानता।” तभी मुर्गे ने बाँग दी।

And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

तभी पतरस को वह याद हो आया जो यीशु ने उससे कहा था, “मुर्गे के बाँग देने से पहले तू तीन बार मुझे नकारेगा।” तब पतरस बाहर चला गया और फूट फूट कर रो पड़ा।
