Proverbs 3

Сину мій, не забудь ти моєї науки, і нехай мої заповіді стережуть твоє серце,

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

бо примножать для тебе вони довготу твоїх днів, і років життя та спокою!

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Милість та правда нехай не залишать тебе, прив'яжи їх до шиї своєї, напиши їх на таблиці серця свого,

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

і знайдеш ти ласку та добру премудрість в очах Бога й людини!

So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

Надійся на Господа всім своїм серцем, а на розум свій не покладайся!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Пізнавай ти Його на всіх дорогах своїх, і Він випростує твої стежки.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Не будь мудрий у власних очах, бійся Господа та ухиляйся від злого!

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Це буде ліком для тіла твого, напоєм для костей твоїх.

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Шануй Господа із маєтку свого, і з початку всіх плодів своїх,

Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

і будуть комори твої переповнені ситістю, а чавила твої будуть переливатись вином молодим!

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Мій сину, карання Господнього не відкидай, і картання Його не вважай тягарем,

My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

бо кого Господь любить, картає того, і кохає, немов батько сина!

For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Блаженна людина, що мудрість знайшла, і людина, що розум одержала,

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

бо ліпше надбання її від надбання срібла, і від щирого золота ліпший прибуток її,

For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

дорожча за перли вона, і всіляке жадання твоє не зрівняється з нею.

She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

Довгість днів у правиці її, багатство та слава в лівиці її.

Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

Дороги її то дороги приємности, всі стежки її мир.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

Вона дерево життя для тих, хто тримається міцно її, і блаженний, хто держить її!

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Господь мудрістю землю заклав, небо розумом міцно поставив.

The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

Знанням Його порозкривались безодні, і кроплять росою ті хмари.

By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

Мій сину, нехай від очей твоїх це не відходить, стережи добрий розум і розважність,

My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

і вони будуть життям для твоєї душі, і прикрасою шиї твоєї,

So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Тоді підеш безпечно своєю дорогою, а нога твоя не спотикнеться!

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

Якщо покладешся не будеш боятись, а ляжеш, то буде приємний твій сон.

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Не будеш боятися наглого страху, ні бурі безбожних, як прийде,

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

бо твоєю надією буде Господь, і Він пильнуватиме ногу твою, щоб вона не зловилась у пастку!

For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Не стримуй добра потребуючому, коли в силі твоєї руки це вчинити,

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

не кажи своїм ближнім: Іди, і знову прийди, а взавтра я дам, коли маєш з собою.

Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

Не виорюй лихого на свого ближнього, коли він безпечно з тобою сидить.

Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

Не сварися з людиною дармо, якщо злого вона не вчинила тобі.

Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

Не заздри насильникові, і ні однієї з доріг його не вибирай,

Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

бо бридить Господь крутіями, а з праведними в Нього дружба.

For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

Прокляття Господнє на домі безбожного, а мешкання праведних Він благословить,

The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

з насмішників Він насміхається, а покірливим милість дає.

Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Мудрі славу вспадковують, а нерозумні носитимуть сором.

The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
