Proverbs 3

Fiule, nu uita învăţăturile mele, şi păstrează în inima ta sfaturile mele!

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

Căci ele îţi vor lungi zilele şi anii vieţii tale, şi-ţi vor aduce multă pace.

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Să nu te părăsească bunătatea şi credincioşia: leagă-ţi-le la gît, scrie-le pe tăbliţa inimii tale.

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

Şi astfel vei căpăta trecere şi minte sănătoasă, înaintea lui Dumnezeu şi înaintea oamenilor.

So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

Încrede-te în Domnul din toată inima ta, şi nu te bizui pe înţelepciunea ta!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Recunoaşte -L în toate căile tale, şi El îţi va netezi cărările.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Nu te socoti singur înţelept; teme-te de Domnul, şi abate-te de la rău!

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Aceasta va aduce sănătate trupului tău, şi răcorire oaselor tale.

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Cinsteşte pe Domnul cu averile tale, şi cu cele dintîi roade din tot venitul tău:

Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

căci atunci grînarele îţi vor fi pline de belşug, şi teascurile tale vor geme de must.

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Fiule, nu dispreţui mustrarea Domnului, şi nu te mîhni de pedepsele Lui.

My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

Căci Domnul mustră pe cine iubeşte, ca un părinte pe copilul pe care -l iubeşte!

For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Ferice de omul care găseşte înţelepciunea, şi de omul care capătă pricepere!

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

Căci cîştigul pe care -l aduce ea este mai bun decît al argintului, şi venitul adus de ea este mai de preţ decît aurul;

For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

ea este mai de preţ decît mărgăritarele, şi toate comorile tale nu se pot asemui cu ea.

She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

În dreapta ei este o viaţă lungă; în stînga ei, bogăţie şi slavă.

Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

Căile ei sînt nişte căi plăcute, şi toate cărările ei sînt nişte cărări pacinice.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

Ea este un pom de viaţă pentru cei ce o apucă, şi cei ce o au sînt fericiţi.

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Prin înţelepciune a întemeiat Domnul pămîntul, şi prin pricepere a întărit El cerurile;

The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

prin ştiinţa Lui s'au deschis Adîncurile, şi strecoară norii roua.

By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

Fiule, să nu se depărteze învăţăturile acestea de ochii tăi: păstrează înţelepciunea şi chibzuinţa!

My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

Căci ele vor fi viaţa sufletului tău, şi podoaba gîtului tău.

So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Atunci vei merge cu încredere pe drumul tău, şi piciorul nu ţi se va poticni.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

Cînd te vei culca, vei fi fără teamă, şi cînd vei dormi, somnul îţi va fi dulce.

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Nu te teme nici de spaimă năpraznică, nici de o năvălire din partea celor răi;

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

căci Domnul va fi nădejdea ta, şi El îţi va păzi piciorul de cădere.

For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Nu opri o binefacere celui ce are nevoie de ea, cînd poţi s'o faci.

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

Nu zice aproapelui tău: ,,Du-te şi vino iarăş; îţi voi da mîne!`` cînd ai de unde să dai.

Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

Nu gîndi rău împotriva aproapelui tău, cînd locuieşte liniştit lîngă tine.

Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

Nu te certa fără pricină cu cineva, cînd nu ţi -a făcut nici un rău.

Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

Nu pizmui pe omul asupritor, şi nu alege niciuna din căile lui!

Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

Căci Domnul urăşte pe oamenii stricaţi, dar este prieten cu cei fără prihană.

For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

Blestemul Domnului este în casa celui rău, dar locuinţa celor neprihăniţi o binecuvintează.

The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

Cînd are a face cu cei batjocoritori, Îşi bate joc de ei, dar celor smeriţi le dă har.

Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Înţelepţii vor moşteni slava, dar partea celor nebuni este ruşinea.

The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
