Psalms 107

Louez l'Eternel, car il est bon, Car sa miséricorde dure à toujours!

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Qu'ainsi disent les rachetés de l'Eternel, Ceux qu'il a délivrés de la main de l'ennemi,

Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Et qu'il a rassemblés de tous les pays, De l'orient et de l'occident, du nord et de la mer!

And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.

Ils erraient dans le désert, ils marchaient dans la solitude, Sans trouver une ville où ils pussent habiter.

They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.

Ils souffraient de la faim et de la soif; Leur âme était languissante.

Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

Dans leur détresse, ils crièrent à l'Eternel, Et il les délivra de leurs angoisses;

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

Il les conduisit par le droit chemin, Pour qu'ils arrivassent dans une ville habitable.

And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

Qu'ils louent l'Eternel pour sa bonté, Et pour ses merveilles en faveur des fils de l'homme!

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Car il a satisfait l'âme altérée, Il a comblé de biens l'âme affamée.

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Ceux qui avaient pour demeure les ténèbres et l'ombre de la mort Vivaient captifs dans la misère et dans les chaînes,

Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;

Parce qu'ils s'étaient révoltés contre les paroles de Dieu, Parce qu'ils avaient méprisé le conseil du Très-Haut.

Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:

Il humilia leur coeur par la souffrance; Ils succombèrent, et personne ne les secourut.

Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.

Dans leur détresse, ils crièrent à l'Eternel, Et il les délivra de leurs angoisses;

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

Il les fit sortir des ténèbres et de l'ombre de la mort, Et il rompit leurs liens.

He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.

Qu'ils louent l'Eternel pour sa bonté, Et pour ses merveilles en faveur des fils de l'homme!

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Car il a brisé les portes d'airain, Il a rompu les verrous de fer.

For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

Les insensés, par leur conduite coupable Et par leurs iniquités, s'étaient rendus malheureux.

Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

Leur âme avait en horreur toute nourriture, Et ils touchaient aux portes de la mort.

Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.

Dans leur détresse, ils crièrent à l'Eternel, Et il les délivra de leurs angoisses;

Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.

Il envoya sa parole et les guérit, Il les fit échapper de la fosse.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Qu'ils louent l'Eternel pour sa bonté, Et pour ses merveilles en faveur des fils de l'homme!

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Qu'ils offrent des sacrifices d'actions de grâces, Et qu'ils publient ses oeuvres avec des cris de joie!

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

Ceux qui étaient descendus sur la mer dans des navires, Et qui travaillaient sur les grandes eaux,

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;

Ceux-là virent les oeuvres de l'Eternel Et ses merveilles au milieu de l'abîme.

These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.

Il dit, et il fit souffler la tempête, Qui souleva les flots de la mer.

For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.

Ils montaient vers les cieux, ils descendaient dans l'abîme; Leur âme était éperdue en face du danger;

They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.

Saisis de vertige, ils chancelaient comme un homme ivre, Et toute leur habileté était anéantie.

They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.

Dans leur détresse, ils crièrent à l'Eternel, Et il les délivra de leurs angoisses;

Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.

Il arrêta la tempête, ramena le calme, Et les ondes se turent.

He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Ils se réjouirent de ce qu'elles s'étaient apaisées, Et l'Eternel les conduisit au port désiré.

Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Qu'ils louent l'Eternel pour sa bonté, Et pour ses merveilles en faveur des fils de l'homme!

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Qu'ils l'exaltent dans l'assemblée du peuple, Et qu'ils le célèbrent dans la réunion des anciens!

Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

Il change les fleuves en désert, Et les sources d'eaux en terre desséchée,

He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;

Le pays fertile en pays salé, A cause de la méchanceté de ses habitants.

A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

Il change le désert en étang, Et la terre aride en sources d'eaux,

He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.

Et il y établit ceux qui sont affamés. Ils fondent une ville pour l'habiter;

And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;

Ils ensemencent des champs, plantent des vignes, Et ils en recueillent les produits.

And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

Il les bénit, et ils deviennent très nombreux, Et il ne diminue point leur bétail.

He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

Sont-ils amoindris et humiliés Par l'oppression, le malheur et la souffrance;

Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

Verse-t-il le mépris sur les grands, Les fait-il errer dans des déserts sans chemin,

He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.

Il relève l'indigent et le délivre de la misère, Il multiplie les familles comme des troupeaux.

Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.

Les hommes droits le voient et se réjouissent, Mais toute iniquité ferme la bouche.

The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

Que celui qui est sage prenne garde à ces choses, Et qu'il soit attentif aux bontés de l'Eternel.

Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
