Jafets sønner var Gomer og Magog og Madai og Javan og Tubal og Mesek og Tiras.

The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

Og Gomers sønner var Askenas og Difat og Togarma.

And the sons of Gomer; Ashchenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

Og Javans sønner var Elisa og Tarsisa, Kittim og Rodanim.

And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

Kams sønner var Kus og Misra'im, Put og Kana'an.

The sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

Og Kus' sønner var Seba og Havila og Sabta og Raema og Sabteka; og Raemas sønner var Sjeba og Dedan.

And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabta, and Raamah, and Sabtecha. And the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

Og Kus fikk en sønn som hette Nimrod; han var den første som fikk velde på jorden.

And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be mighty upon the earth.

Og Misra'im var stamfar til luderne og anamerne og lehaberne og naftuherne

And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,

og patruserne og kasluherne, som filistrene stammer fra, og kaftorerne.

And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (of whom came the Philistines,) and Caphthorim.

The sons of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram, and Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Meshech.

Og Arpaksad fikk sønnen Salah, og Salah fikk Eber.

And Arphaxad begat Shelah, and Shelah begat Eber.

Og Eber fikk to sønner; den ene hette Peleg, for i hans dager blev menneskene spredt over jorden, og hans bror hette Joktan.

And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother's name was Joktan.

Og Joktan blev far til Almodad og Salef og Hasarmavet og Jarah

And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,

og Hadoram og Usal og Dikla

Hadoram also, and Uzal, and Diklah,

og Ebal og Abimael og Sjeba

And Ebal, and Abimael, and Sheba,

og Ofir og Havila og Jobab; alle disse var Joktans sønner.

And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.

Sem, Arpaksad, Salah,

Shem, Arphaxad, Shelah,

Eber, Peleg, Re'u,

Eber, Peleg, Reu,

Serug, Nakor, Tarah,

Serug, Nahor, Terah,

Abram, det er Abraham.

Abram; the same is Abraham.

Abrahams sønner var Isak og Ismael.

The sons of Abraham; Isaac, and Ishmael.

Dette er deres ætter: Nebajot, Ismaels førstefødte, og Kedar og Adbe'el og Mibsam.

Now the sons of Keturah, Abraham's concubine: she bare Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. And the sons of Jokshan; Sheba, and Dedan.

og Midians sønner var Efa og Efer og Hanok og Abida og Elda'a. Alle disse var Keturas sønner.

And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Henoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these are the sons of Keturah.

Og Abraham fikk sønnen Isak. Isaks sønner var Esau og Israel.

And Abraham begat Isaac. The sons of Isaac; Esau and Israel.

Esaus sønner var Elifas, Re'uel og Je'us og Jaelam og Korah.

The sons of Esau; Eliphaz, Reuel, and Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.

Elifas' sønner var Teman og Omar, Sefi og Gatam, Kenas og Timna og Amalek.

The sons of Eliphaz; Teman, and Omar, Zephi, and Gatam, Kenaz, and Timna, and Amalek.

Re'uels sønner var Nahat, Serah, Samma og Missa.

The sons of Reuel; Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.

Og Se'irs sønner var Lotan og Sobal og Sibeon og Ana og Dison og Eser og Disan.

And the sons of Seir; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah, and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan.

Og Lotans sønner var Hori og Homam; og Lotans søster var Timna.

And the sons of Lotan; Hori, and Homam: and Timna was Lotan's sister.

Sobals sønner var Aljan og Manahat og Ebal, Sefi og Onam; og Sibeons sønner var Aja og Ana.

The sons of Shobal; Alian, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shephi, and Onam. And the sons of Zibeon; Aiah, and Anah.

Anas sønn var Dison; og Disons sønner var Hamran og Esban og Jitran og Keran.

The sons of Anah; Dishon. And the sons of Dishon; Amram, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.

Esers sønner var Bilhan og Sa'avan og Ja'akan; Disans sønner var Us og Aran.

The sons of Ezer; Bilhan, and Zavan, and Jakan. The sons of Dishan; Uz, and Aran.

Og dette var de konger som regjerte i Edom-landet før det regjerte nogen konge over Israels barn: Bela, Beors sønn; hans by hette Dinhaba.

Now these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the children of Israel; Bela the son of Beor: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

Da Bela døde, blev Jobab, Serahs sønn, fra Bosra, konge i hans sted.

And when Bela was dead, Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.

Da Jobab døde, blev Husam fra temanittenes land konge i hans sted.

And when Jobab was dead, Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead.

Da Husam døde, blev Hadad, Bedads sønn, konge i hans sted; det var han som slo midianittene på Moabs mark; hans by hette Ajut.

And when Husham was dead, Hadad the son of Bedad, which smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.

Da Hadad døde, blev Samla fra Masreka konge i hans sted.

And when Hadad was dead, Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.

Da Samla døde, blev Saul fra Rehobot ved elven konge i hans sted.

And when Samlah was dead, Shaul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.

Da Saul døde, blev Ba'al-Hanan, Akbors sønn, konge i hans sted.

And when Shaul was dead, Baal–hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.

Da Ba'al-Hanan døde, blev Hadad konge i hans sted; hans by hette Pa'i, og hans hustru hette Mehetabel, datter av Matred, Mesahabs datter.

And when Baal–hanan was dead, Hadad reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pai; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

Og Hadad døde. Og Edoms stammefyrster var: stammefyrsten Timna, stammefyrsten Alja, stammefyrsten Jetet,

Hadad died also. And the dukes of Edom were; duke Timnah, duke Aliah, duke Jetheth,

stammefyrsten Oholibama, stammefyrsten Ela, stammefyrsten Pinon,

Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,

stammefyrsten Kenas, stammefyrsten Teman, stammefyrsten Mibsar,

Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,

stammefyrsten Magdiel, stammefyrsten Iram; dette var Edoms stammefyrster.

Duke Magdiel, duke Iram. These are the dukes of Edom.
