Proverbs 21

The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

بادشاہ کا دل رب کے ہاتھ میں نہر کی مانند ہے۔ وہ جدھر چاہے اُس کا رُخ پھیر دیتا ہے۔

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

ہر آدمی کی راہ اُس کی اپنی نظر میں ٹھیک لگتی ہے، لیکن رب ہی دلوں کی جانچ پڑتال کرتا ہے۔

To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

راست بازی اور انصاف کرنا رب کو ذبح کی قربانیوں سے کہیں زیادہ پسند ہے۔

An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

مغرور آنکھیں اور متکبر دل جو بےدینوں کا چراغ ہیں گناہ ہیں۔

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

محنتی شخص کے منصوبے نفع کا باعث ہیں، لیکن جلدبازی غربت تک پہنچا دیتی ہے۔

The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.

فریب دہ زبان سے جمع کیا ہوا خزانہ بکھر جانے والا دھواں اور مہلک پھندا ہے۔

The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

بےدینوں کا ظلم ہی اُنہیں گھسیٹ کر لے جاتا ہے، کیونکہ وہ انصاف کرنے سے انکار کرتے ہیں۔

The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

قصوروار کی راہ پیچ دار ہے جبکہ پاک شخص سیدھی راہ پر چلتا ہے۔

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

جھگڑالو بیوی کے ساتھ ایک ہی گھر میں رہنے کی نسبت چھت کے کسی کونے میں گزارہ کرنا بہتر ہے۔

The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

بےدین غلط کام کرنے کے لالچ میں رہتا ہے اور اپنے کسی بھی پڑوسی پر ترس نہیں کھاتا۔

When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

طعنہ زن پر جرمانہ لگا تو سادہ لوح سبق سیکھے گا، دانش مند کو تعلیم دے تو اُس کے علم میں اضافہ ہو گا۔

The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

اللہ جو راست ہے بےدین کے گھر کو دھیان میں رکھتا ہے، وہی بےدین کو خاک میں ملا دیتا ہے۔

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

جو کان میں اُنگلی ڈال کر غریب کی مدد کے لئے چیخیں نہیں سنتا وہ بھی ایک دن چیخیں مارے گا، اور اُس کی بھی نہیں سنی جائے گی۔

A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.

پوشیدگی میں صلہ دینے سے دوسرے کا غصہ ٹھنڈا ہو جاتا، کسی کی جیب گرم کرنے سے اُس کا سخت طیش دُور ہو جاتا ہے۔

It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

جب انصاف کیا جائے تو راست باز خوش ہو جاتا، لیکن بدکار دہشت کھانے لگتا ہے۔

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

جو سمجھ کی راہ سے بھٹک جائے وہ ایک دن مُردوں کی جماعت میں آرام کرے گا۔

He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

جو عیش و عشرت کی زندگی پسند کرے وہ غریب ہو جائے گا، جسے مَے اور تیل پیارا ہو وہ امیر نہیں ہو جائے گا۔

The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

جب راست باز کا فدیہ دینا ہے تو بےدین کو دیا جائے گا، اور دیانت دار کی جگہ بےوفا کو دیا جائے گا۔

It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

جھگڑالو اور تنگ کرنے والی بیوی کے ساتھ بسنے کی نسبت ریگستان میں گزارہ کرنا بہتر ہے۔

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

دانش مند کے گھر میں عمدہ خزانہ اور تیل ہوتا ہے، لیکن احمق اپنا سارا مال ہڑپ کر لیتا ہے۔

He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

جو انصاف اور شفقت کا تعاقب کرتا رہے وہ زندگی، راستی اور عزت پائے گا۔

A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

دانش مند آدمی طاقت ور فوجیوں کے شہر پر حملہ کر کے وہ قلعہ بندی ڈھا دیتا ہے جس پر اُن کا پورا اعتماد تھا۔

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

جو اپنے منہ اور زبان کی پہرہ داری کرے وہ اپنی جان کو مصیبت سے بچائے رکھتا ہے۔

Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

مغرور اور گھمنڈی کا نام ’طعنہ زن‘ ہے، ہر کام وہ بےحد تکبر کے ساتھ کرتا ہے۔

The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.

کاہل کا لالچ اُسے موت کے گھاٹ اُتار دیتا ہے، کیونکہ اُس کے ہاتھ کام کرنے سے انکار کرتے ہیں۔

He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

لالچی پورا دن لالچ کرتا رہتا ہے، لیکن راست باز فیاض دلی سے دیتا ہے۔

The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

بےدینوں کی قربانی قابلِ گھن ہے، خاص کر جب اُسے بُرے مقصد سے پیش کیا جائے۔

A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.

جھوٹا گواہ تباہ ہو جائے گا، لیکن جو دوسرے کی دھیان سے سنے اُس کی بات ہمیشہ تک قائم رہے گی۔

A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

بےدین آدمی گستاخ انداز سے پیش آتا ہے، لیکن سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والا سوچ سمجھ کر اپنی راہ پر چلتا ہے۔

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

کسی کی بھی حکمت، سمجھ یا منصوبہ رب کا سامنا نہیں کر سکتا۔

The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

گھوڑے کو جنگ کے دن کے لئے تیار تو کیا جاتا ہے، لیکن فتح رب کے ہاتھ میں ہے۔
