John 6

Depois disto partiu Jesus para o outro lado do mar da Galileia, também chamado de Tiberíades.

After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

Seguia-o uma grande multidão, porque viram os sinais que fizera sobre os enfermos.

And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

Subiu, pois, Jesus ao monte e assentou-se ali com seus discípulos.

And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

Ora, a páscoa, a festa dos judeus, estava próxima.

And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

Então Jesus, levantando os olhos, e vendo que uma grande multidão vinha ter com ele, disse a Felipe: Onde compraremos pães, para estes comerem?

When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

Mas dizia isto para o experimentar; pois ele bem sabia o que estava para fazer fazer.

And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

Respondeu-lhe Felipe: Duzentos denários de pão não lhes bastam, para que cada um receba um pouco.

Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

Um de seus discípulos, chamado André, irmão de Simão Pedro, informou a Jesus:

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

Está aqui um rapaz que tem cinco pães de cevada e dois peixinhos; mas que é isto tanta gente?

There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

Disse Jesus: Fazei o povo assentar-se. Ora, naquele lugar havia muita relva. Assentaram-se ali, pois, os homens em número de quase cinco mil.

And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

Então, Jesus tomou os pães e, havendo dado graças, distribuiu-os aos discípulos, e os discípulos aos que estavam assentados; também igualmente os peixes, quanto queriam.

And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

E quando estavam fartos, disse aos seus discípulos: Recolhei os pedaços que sobraram, para que nada se perca.

When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

Então eles os recolheram, e encheram doze cestos de pedaços dos cinco pães de cevada, que sobraram aos que haviam comido.

Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

Vendo, pois, aqueles homens o sinal que Jesus fizera, diziam: este é verdadeiramente o profeta que devia vir ao mundo.

Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

Percebendo Jesus que estavam prestes a vir e levá-lo à força para o fazerem rei, retirou-se, sozinho, para o monte.

When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Ao cair da tarde, desceram os seus discípulos ao mar;

And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

e, entrando num barco, atravessavam o mar em direção a Cafarnaum. Já havia escurecido, e Jesus ainda não tinha vindo ter com eles;

And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

E o mar se empolava, agitado por forte vento que soprava.

And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

Tendo, pois, remado uns vinte e cinco ou trinta estádios, viram a Jesus andando sobre o mar, aproximando-se do barco; e ficaram possuídos de temor.

So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

Mas ele lhes disse: Sou eu. Não temais!

But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

Então eles de bom grado o receberam no barco; e logo o barco chegou à terra para onde iam.

Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

No dia seguinte, a multidão que ficara no outro lado do mar, viu que não havia ali outro barco, senão aquele em que embarcaram seus discípulos, e que Jesus não embarcara com eles, tendo estes partido sós

The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

Entretanto, outros barquinhos haviam chegado a Tiberíades para perto do lugar onde comeram o pão, havendo o Senhor dado graças.

(Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

Quando, pois, viram que Jesus não estava ali nem os seus discípulos, entraram eles também nos barcos, e foram a Cafarnaum, em busca de Jesus.

When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

E, achando-o no outro lado do mar, perguntaram-lhe: Mestre, quando chegaste aqui?

And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo que me buscais, não porque vistes sinais, mas porque comestes do pão e vos fartastes.

Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

Trabalhai, não pela comida que perece, mas pela comida que permanece para a vida eterna, a qual o Filho do homem vos dará; pois sobre ele, Deus, o Pai, imprimiu seu selo.

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Perguntaram-lhe, pois: Que faremos para realizar as obras de Deus?

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

Jesus lhes respondeu: A obra de Deus é esta: Que creiais naquele que ele enviou.

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Perguntaram-lhe, então: Que sinal, pois, fazes tu, para que o vejamos e creiamos em ti? Que operas tu?

They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

Nossos pais comeram o maná no deserto, como está escrito: Deu-lhes a comer pão do céu.

Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: Não foi Moisés que vos deu o pão do céu; mas meu Pai vos dá o verdadeiro pão do céu.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

Porque o pão de Deus é aquele que desce do céu e dá vida ao mundo.

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Disseram-lhe, pois: Senhor, dá-nos sempre desse pão.

Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

Declarou-lhes Jesus: Eu sou o pão da vida; aquele que vem a mim, de modo algum terá fome, e quem crê em mim jamais terá sede.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Porém eu já vos disse que, embora me tenhais visto, não credes em mim.

But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

Todo o que o Pai me dá virá a mim; e o que vem a mim de maneira nenhuma o lançarei fora.

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Porque eu desci do céu, não para fazer a minha vontade, mas a vontade daquele que me enviou.

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

E a vontade do Pai, que me enviou, é esta: Que eu não perca nenhum de todos aqueles que me deu, mas que eu o ressuscite no último dia.

And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

Porquanto esta é a vontade de meu Pai: Que todo aquele que vê o Filho e nele crê, tenha a vida eterna; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Murmuravam, pois, dele os judeus, porque dissera: Eu sou o pão que desceu do céu.

The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

E diziam: Não é este Jesus, o filho de José, cujo pai e mãe nós conhecemos? Como, pois, diz agora: Desci do céu?

And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Não murmureis entre vós.

Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

Ninguém pode vir a mim, se o Pai que me enviou não o trouxer; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Está escrito nos profetas: E serão todos ensinados por Deus. Portanto, todo aquele que da parte do Pai tem ouvido e aprendido, esse vem a mim..

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Não que alguém tenha visto o Pai, senão aquele que é vindo de Deus; ele tem visto o Pai.

Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: Aquele que crê em mim tem a vida eterna.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Eu sou o pão da vida.

I am that bread of life.

Vossos pais comeram o maná no deserto e morreram.

Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

Este é o pão que desce do céu, para que o que dele comer não morra.

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

Eu sou o pão vivo que desceu do céu; se alguém comer deste pão, viverá para sempre; e o pão que eu darei é a minha carne, a qual darei pela vida do mundo.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Disputavam, pois, os judeus entre si, dizendo: Como pode este dar-nos a comer a sua própria carne?

The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

Disse-lhes Jesus: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: Se não comerdes a carne do Filho do homem, e não beberdes o seu sangue, não tendes vida em vós mesmos.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Quem come a minha carne e bebe o meu sangue tem a vida eterna; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.

Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

Porque a minha carne verdadeiramente é comida, e o meu sangue verdadeiramente é bebida.

For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

Quem come a minha carne e bebe o meu sangue permanece em mim e eu nele.

He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

Assim como o Pai, que vive, me enviou, e eu vivo pelo Pai, assim, quem de mim se alimenta, também viverá por mim.

As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

Este é o pão que desceu do céu; não é como o caso de vossos pais, que comeram o maná e morreram; quem comer este pão viverá para sempre.

This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

Estas coisas falou Jesus quando ensinava na sinagoga em Cafarnaum.

These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

Muitos, pois, dos seus discípulos, ouvindo isto, disseram: Duro é este discurso; quem o pode ouvir?

Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

Mas, sabendo Jesus em si mesmo que murmuravam disto os seus discípulos, disse-lhes: Isto vos escandaliza?

When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

Que será, pois, se virdes subir o Filho do homem para onde primeiro estava?

What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

O espírito é o que vivifica, a carne para nada aproveita; as palavras que eu vos tenho dito são espírito e são vida.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Mas há alguns de vós que não creem. Pois Jesus sabia, desde o princípio, quais eram os que não criam, e quem o havia de trair.

But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

E continuou: Por isso vos disse que ninguém pode vir a mim, se, pelo Pai, não lhe for concedido.

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

Por causa disso muitos dos seus discípulos voltaram para trás e não andaram mais com ele.

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Então, perguntou Jesus aos doze: Quereis vós também retirar-vos?

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

Respondeu-lhe Simão Pedro: Senhor, para quem iremos? Tu tens as palavras da vida eterna.

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

E nós temos crido e bem sabemos que tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo.

And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Não vos escolhi a vós os doze? Contudo um de vós é diabo.

Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

Referia-se a Judas, filho de Simão Iscariotes; porque era ele o que o havia de trair, sendo um dos doze.

He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
