Proverbs 21

 Konungars hjärtan äro i HERRENS hand såsom vattenbäckar:  han leder dem varthelst han vill.Ps. 33,15.

The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

 Var man tycker sin väg vara den rätta,  men HERREN är den som prövar hjärtan.Ords. 16,2.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

 Att öva rättfärdighet och rätt,  det är mer värt för HERREN än offer.1 Sam. 15,22. Jes. 1,11 f. Hos. 6,6.

To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

 Stolta ögon och högmodigt hjärta --  de ogudaktigas lykta är dem till synd.Ps. 101,5. Ords. 10,16. 13,9.

An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

 Den idoges omtanke leder allenast till vinning,  men all fikenhet allenast till förlust.Ords. 10,4. 13,4. 14,23. 28,20.

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

 De skatter som förvärvas genom falsk tunga,  de äro en försvinnande dunst och hasta till döden.Ords. 10,2. Jak. 5,1 f.

The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.

 De ogudaktigas övervåld bortrycker dem själva,  eftersom de icke vilja göra vad rätt är.

The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

 En oärlig mans väg är idel vrånghet,  men en rättskaffens man handla redligt

The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

 Bättre är att bo i en vrå på taket  än att hava hela huset gemensamt med en trätgirig kvinna.Ords. 25,24.

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

 Den ogudaktiges själ har lust till det onda;  hans nästa finner ingen barmhärtighet hos honom.

The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

 Straffar man bespottaren, så bliver den fåkunnige vis:  och undervisar man den vise, så inhämtar han kunskap.Ords. 19,25.

When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

 Den Rättfärdige giver akt på den ogudaktiges hus,  han störtar de ogudaktiga i olycka.Pred. 5,7.

The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

 Den som tillsluter sitt öra för den armes rop,  han skall själv ropa utan att få svar.

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

 En hemlig gåva stillar vrede  och en skänk i lönndom våldsammaste förbittring.Ords. 17,8, 23. 18,16.

A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.

 Det är den rättfärdiges glädje att rätt skipa,  men det är ogärningsmännens skräck.

It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

 Den människa som far vilse ifrån förståndets väg,  hon hamnar i skuggornas krets.

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

 Den som älskar glada dagar varder fattig;  den som älskar vin och olja bliver icke rik.Ords. 23,20 f. Luk. 15,13 f.

He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

 Den ogudaktige varder given såsom lösepenning för den rättfärdige,  och den trolöse sättes i de redligas ställe.Est. 7,9 f. Ords. 11,8.

The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

 Bättre är att bo i ett öde land  än med en trätgirig och besvärlig kvinna.Ords. 25,24. Syr. 25,16.

It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

 Dyrbara skatter och salvor har den vise i sin boning,  men en dåraktig människa förslösar sitt gods.

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

 Den som far efter rättfärdighet och godhet,  han finner liv, rättfärdighet och ära.

He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

 En vis man kan storma en stad full av hjältar  och bryta ned det fäste som var dess förtröstan.Ords. 24,5. Pred. 7,20. 9,16, 18.

A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

 Den som besvarar sin mun och sin tunga  han bevarar sitt liv för nöd.Ords. 13,3.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

 Bespottare må den kallas, som är fräck och övermodig,  den som far fram med fräck förmätenhet.

Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

 Den lates begärelse för honom till döden,  i det att hans händer icke vilja arbeta.Ords. 20,4.

The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.

 Den snikne är alltid full av snikenhet;  men den rättfärdige giver och spar icke.

He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

 De ogudaktigas offer är en styggelse;  mycket mer, när det frambäres i skändligt uppsåt.Ords. 15,8. Jes. 1,13 f. Syr. 34,21 f.

The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

 Ett lögnaktigt vittne skall förgås;  men en man som hör på får allt framgent tala.5 Mos. 19,18 f. Ords. 19,5, f.

A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.

 En ogudaktig man uppträder fräckt;  men den redlige vandrar sina vägar ståndaktigt.

A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

 Ingen vishet, intet förstånd,  intet råd förmår något mot HERREN.Job 5,12 f. Ords 11,21. Jes. 8,10.

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

 Hästar rustas ut för stridens dag,  men från HERREN är det som segern kommer.Ps. 33,16 f. 147,10 f.

The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
