Proverbs 11

11:1
A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
رب غلط ترازو سے گھن کھاتا ہے، وہ صحیح ترازو ہی سے خوش ہوتا ہے۔
11:2
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
جہاں تکبر ہے وہاں بدنامی بھی قریب ہی رہتی ہے، لیکن جو حلیم ہے اُس کے دامن میں حکمت رہتی ہے۔
11:3
The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والوں کی دیانت داری اُن کی راہنمائی کرتی جبکہ بےوفاؤں کی نمک حرامی اُنہیں تباہ کرتی ہے۔
11:4
Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
غضب کے دن دولت کا کوئی فائدہ نہیں جبکہ راست بازی لوگوں کی جان کو چھڑاتی ہے۔
11:5
The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
بےالزام کی راست بازی اُس کا راستہ ہموار بنا دیتی ہے جبکہ بےدین کی بُری حرکتیں اُسے گرا دیتی ہیں۔
11:6
The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والوں کی راست بازی اُنہیں چھڑا دیتی جبکہ بےوفاؤں کا لالچ اُنہیں پھنسا دیتا ہے۔
11:7
When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
دم توڑتے وقت بےدین کی ساری اُمید جاتی رہتی ہے، جس دولت کی توقع اُس نے کی وہ جاتی رہتی ہے۔
11:8
The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
راست باز کی جان مصیبت سے چھوٹ جاتی ہے، اور اُس کی جگہ بےدین پھنس جاتا ہے۔
11:9
An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
کافر اپنے منہ سے اپنے پڑوسی کو تباہ کرتا ہے، لیکن راست بازوں کا علم اُنہیں چھڑاتا ہے۔
11:10
When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
جب راست باز کامیاب ہوں تو پورا شہر جشن مناتا ہے، جب بےدین ہلاک ہوں تو خوشی کے نعرے بلند ہو جاتے ہیں۔
11:11
By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والوں کی برکت سے شہر ترقی کرتا ہے، لیکن بےدین کے منہ سے وہ مسمار ہو جاتا ہے۔
11:12
He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
ناسمجھ آدمی اپنے پڑوسی کو حقیر جانتا ہے جبکہ سمجھ دار آدمی خاموش رہتا ہے۔
11:13
A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
تہمت لگانے والا دوسروں کے راز فاش کرتا ہے، لیکن قابلِ اعتماد شخص وہ بھید پوشیدہ رکھتا ہے جو اُس کے سپرد کیا گیا ہو۔
11:14
Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
جہاں قیادت کی کمی ہے وہاں قوم کا تنزل یقینی ہے، جہاں مشیروں کی کثرت ہے وہاں قوم فتح یاب رہے گی۔
11:15
He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
جو اجنبی کا ضامن ہو جائے اُسے یقیناً نقصان پہنچے گا، جو ضامن بننے سے انکار کرے وہ محفوظ رہے گا۔
11:16
A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.
نیک عورت عزت سے اور ظالم آدمی دولت سے لپٹے رہتے ہیں۔
11:17
The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
شفیق کا اچھا سلوک اُسی کے لئے فائدہ مند ہے جبکہ ظالم کا بُرا سلوک اُسی کے لئے نقصان دہ ہے۔
11:18
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
جو کچھ بےدین کماتا ہے وہ فریب دہ ہے، لیکن جو راستی کا بیج بوئے اُس کا اجر یقینی ہے۔
11:19
As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.
راست بازی کا پھل زندگی ہے جبکہ بُرائی کے پیچھے بھاگنے والے کا انجام موت ہے۔
11:20
They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
رب کج دلوں سے گھن کھاتا ہے، وہ بےالزام راہ پر چلنے والوں ہی سے خوش ہوتا ہے۔
11:21
Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
یقین کرو، بدکار سزا سے نہیں بچے گا جبکہ راست بازوں کے فرزند چھوٹ جائیں گے۔
11:22
As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
جس طرح سؤر کی تھوتھنی میں سونے کا چھلا کھٹکتا ہے اُسی طرح خوب صورت عورت کی بےتمیزی کھٹکتی ہے۔
11:23
The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
اللہ راست بازوں کی آرزو اچھی چیزوں سے پوری کرتا ہے، لیکن اُس کا غضب بےدینوں کی اُمید پر نازل ہوتا ہے۔
11:24
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
ایک آدمی کی دولت میں اضافہ ہوتا ہے، گو وہ فیاض دلی سے تقسیم کرتا ہے۔ دوسرے کی غربت میں اضافہ ہوتا ہے، گو وہ حد سے زیادہ کنجوس ہے۔
11:25
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
فیاض دل خوش حال رہے گا، جو دوسروں کو تر و تازہ کرے وہ خود تازہ دم رہے گا۔
11:26
He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
لوگ گندم کے ذخیرہ اندوز پر لعنت بھیجتے ہیں، لیکن جو گندم کو بازار میں آنے دیتا ہے اُس کے سر پر برکت آتی ہے۔
11:27
He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
جو بھلائی کی تلاش میں رہے وہ اللہ کی منظوری چاہتا ہے، لیکن جو بُرائی کی تلاش میں رہے وہ خود بُرائی کے پھندے میں پھنس جائے گا۔
11:28
He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
جو اپنی دولت پر بھروسا رکھے وہ گر جائے گا، لیکن راست باز ہرے بھرے پتوں کی طرح پھلیں پھولیں گے۔
11:29
He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
جو اپنے گھر میں گڑبڑ پیدا کرے وہ میراث میں ہَوا ہی پائے گا۔ احمق دانش مند کا نوکر بنے گا۔
11:30
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
راست باز کا پھل زندگی کا درخت ہے، اور دانش مند آدمی جانیں جیتتا ہے۔
11:31
Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
راست باز کو زمین پر ہی اجر ملتا ہے۔ تو پھر بےدین اور گناہ گار سزا کیوں نہ پائیں؟
