Proverbs 12

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

جسے علم و عرفان پیارا ہے اُسے تربیت بھی پیاری ہے، جسے نصیحت سے نفرت ہے وہ بےعقل ہے۔

A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

رب اچھے آدمی سے خوش ہوتا ہے جبکہ وہ سازش کرنے والے کو قصوروار ٹھہراتا ہے۔

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

انسان بےدینی کی بنیاد پر قائم نہیں رہ سکتا جبکہ راست باز کی جڑیں اُکھاڑی نہیں جا سکتیں۔

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

سُگھڑ بیوی اپنے شوہر کا تاج ہے، لیکن جو شوہر کی رُسوائی کا باعث ہے وہ اُس کی ہڈیوں میں سڑاہٹ کی مانند ہے۔

The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

راست باز کے خیالات منصفانہ ہیں جبکہ بےدینوں کے منصوبے فریب دہ ہیں۔

The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

بےدینوں کے الفاظ لوگوں کو قتل کرنے کی تاک میں رہتے ہیں جبکہ سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والوں کی باتیں لوگوں کو چھڑا لیتی ہیں۔

The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

بےدینوں کو خاک میں یوں ملایا جاتا ہے کہ اُن کا نام و نشان تک نہیں رہتا، لیکن راست باز کا گھر قائم رہتا ہے۔

A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

کسی کی جتنی عقل و سمجھ ہے اُتنا ہی لوگ اُس کی تعریف کرتے ہیں، لیکن جس کے ذہن میں فتور ہے اُسے حقیر جانا جاتا ہے۔

He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

نچلے طبقے کا جو آدمی اپنی ذمہ داریاں ادا کرتا ہے وہ اُس آدمی سے کہیں بہتر ہے جو نخرہ بگھارتا ہے گو اُس کے پاس روٹی بھی نہیں ہے۔

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

راست باز اپنے مویشی کا بھی خیال کرتا ہے جبکہ بےدین کا دل ظالم ہی ظالم ہے۔

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

جو اپنی زمین کی کھیتی باڑی کرے اُس کے پاس کثرت کا کھانا ہو گا، لیکن جو فضول چیزوں کے پیچھے پڑ جائے وہ ناسمجھ ہے۔

The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

بےدین دوسروں کو جال میں پھنسانے سے اپنا دل بہلاتا ہے، لیکن راست باز کی جڑ پھل دار ہوتی ہے۔

The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

شریر اپنی غلط باتوں کے جال میں اُلجھ جاتا جبکہ راست باز مصیبت سے بچ جاتا ہے۔

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

انسان اپنے منہ کے پھل سے خوب سیر ہو جاتا ہے، اور جو کام اُس کے ہاتھوں نے کیا اُس کا اجر اُسے ضرور ملے گا۔

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

احمق کی نظر میں اُس کی اپنی راہ ٹھیک ہے، لیکن دانش مند دوسروں کے مشورے پر دھیان دیتا ہے۔

A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

احمق ایک دم اپنی ناراضی کا اظہار کرتا ہے، لیکن دانا اپنی بدنامی چھپائے رکھتا ہے۔

He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

دیانت دار گواہ کھلے طور پر سچائی بیان کرتا ہے جبکہ جھوٹا گواہ دھوکا ہی دھوکا پیش کرتا ہے۔

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

گپیں ہانکنے والے کی باتیں تلوار کی طرح زخمی کر دیتی ہیں جبکہ دانش مند کی زبان شفا دیتی ہے۔

The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

سچے ہونٹ ہمیشہ تک قائم رہتے ہیں جبکہ جھوٹی زبان ایک ہی لمحے کے بعد ختم ہو جاتی ہے۔

Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

بُرے منصوبے باندھنے والے کا دل دھوکے سے بھرا رہتا جبکہ سلامتی کے مشورے دینے والے کا دل خوشی سے چھلکتا ہے۔

There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

کوئی بھی آفت راست باز پر نہیں آئے گی جبکہ دُکھ تکلیف بےدینوں کا دامن کبھی نہیں چھوڑے گی۔

Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

رب فریب دہ ہونٹوں سے گھن کھاتا ہے، لیکن جو وفاداری سے زندگی گزارتے ہیں اُن سے وہ خوش ہوتا ہے۔

A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

سمجھ دار اپنا علم چھپائے رکھتا جبکہ احمق اپنے دل کی حماقت بلند آواز سے سب کو پیش کرتا ہے۔

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

جس کے ہاتھ محنتی ہیں وہ حکومت کرے گا، لیکن جس کے ہاتھ ڈھیلے ہیں اُسے بیگار میں کام کرنا پڑے گا۔

Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

جس کے دل میں پریشانی ہے وہ دبا رہتا ہے، لیکن کوئی بھی اچھی بات اُسے خوشی دلاتی ہے۔

The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

راست باز اپنی چراگاہ معلوم کر لیتا ہے، لیکن بےدینوں کی راہ اُنہیں آوارہ پھرنے دیتی ہے۔

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

ڈھیلا آدمی اپنا شکار نہیں پکڑ سکتا جبکہ محنتی شخص کثرت کا مال حاصل کر لیتا ہے۔

In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

راستی کی راہ میں زندگی ہے، لیکن غلط راہ موت تک پہنچاتی ہے۔
