Mark 14

After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.

فسح اور بےخمیری روٹی کی عید قریب آ گئی تھی۔ صرف دو دن رہ گئے تھے۔ راہنما امام اور شریعت کے علما عیسیٰ کو کسی چالاکی سے گرفتار کر کے قتل کرنے کی تلاش میں تھے۔

But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.

اُنہوں نے کہا، ”لیکن یہ عید کے دوران نہیں ہونا چاہئے، ایسا نہ ہو کہ عوام میں ہل چل مچ جائے۔“

And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

اِتنے میں عیسیٰ بیت عنیاہ آ کر ایک آدمی کے گھر میں داخل ہوا جو کسی وقت کوڑھ کا مریض تھا۔ اُس کا نام شمعون تھا۔ عیسیٰ کھانا کھانے کے لئے بیٹھ گیا تو ایک عورت آئی۔ اُس کے پاس خالص جٹاماسی کے نہایت قیمتی عطر کا عطردان تھا۔ اُس کا سر توڑ کر اُس نے عطر عیسیٰ کے سر پر اُنڈیل دیا۔

And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

حاضرین میں سے کچھ ناراض ہوئے۔ ”اِتنا قیمتی عطر ضائع کرنے کی کیا ضرورت تھی؟

For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

اِس کی قیمت کم از کم چاندی کے 300 سِکے تھی۔ اگر اِسے بیچا جاتا تو اِس کے پیسے غریبوں کو دیئے جا سکتے تھے۔“ ایسی باتیں کرتے ہوئے اُنہوں نے اُسے جھڑکا۔

And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”اِسے چھوڑ دو، تم اِسے کیوں تنگ کر رہے ہو؟ اِس نے تو میرے لئے ایک نیک کام کیا ہے۔

For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

غریب تو ہمیشہ تمہارے پاس رہیں گے، اور تم جب بھی چاہو اُن کی مدد کر سکو گے۔ لیکن مَیں ہمیشہ تمہارے ساتھ نہیں رہوں گا۔

She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

جو کچھ وہ کر سکتی تھی اُس نے کیا ہے۔ مجھ پر عطر اُنڈیلنے سے وہ مقررہ وقت سے پہلے میرے بدن کو دفنانے کے لئے تیار کر چکی ہے۔

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ تمام دنیا میں جہاں بھی اللہ کی خوش خبری کا اعلان کیا جائے گا وہاں لوگ اِس خاتون کو یاد کر کے وہ کچھ سنائیں گے جو اِس نے کیا ہے۔“

And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.

پھر یہوداہ اسکریوتی جو بارہ شاگردوں میں سے ایک تھا راہنما اماموں کے پاس گیا تاکہ عیسیٰ کو اُن کے حوالے کرنے کی بات کرے۔

And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

اُس کے آنے کا مقصد سن کر وہ خوش ہوئے اور اُسے پیسے دینے کا وعدہ کیا۔ چنانچہ وہ عیسیٰ کو اُن کے حوالے کرنے کا موقع ڈھونڈنے لگا۔

And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

بےخمیری روٹی کی عید آئی جب لوگ فسح کے لیلے کو قربان کرتے تھے۔ عیسیٰ کے شاگردوں نے اُس سے پوچھا، ”ہم کہاں آپ کے لئے فسح کا کھانا تیار کریں؟“

And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

چنانچہ عیسیٰ نے اُن میں سے دو کو یہ ہدایت دے کر یروشلم بھیج دیا کہ ”جب تم شہر میں داخل ہو گے تو تمہاری ملاقات ایک آدمی سے ہو گی جو پانی کا گھڑا اُٹھائے چل رہا ہو گا۔ اُس کے پیچھے ہو لینا۔

And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

جس گھر میں وہ داخل ہو اُس کے مالک سے کہنا، ’اُستاد آپ سے پوچھتے ہیں کہ وہ کمرا کہاں ہے جہاں مَیں اپنے شاگردوں کے ساتھ فسح کا کھانا کھاؤں؟‘

And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

وہ تمہیں دوسری منزل پر ایک بڑا اور سجا ہوا کمرا دکھائے گا۔ وہ تیار ہو گا۔ ہمارے لئے فسح کا کھانا وہیں تیار کرنا۔“

And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

دونوں چلے گئے تو شہر میں داخل ہو کر سب کچھ ویسا ہی پایا جیسا عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں بتایا تھا۔ پھر اُنہوں نے فسح کا کھانا تیار کیا۔

And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.

شام کے وقت عیسیٰ بارہ شاگردوں سمیت وہاں پہنچ گیا۔

And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

جب وہ میز پر بیٹھے کھانا کھا رہے تھے تو اُس نے کہا، ”مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں، تم میں سے ایک جو میرے ساتھ کھانا کھا رہا ہے مجھے دشمن کے حوالے کر دے گا۔“

And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?

شاگرد یہ سن کر غمگین ہوئے۔ باری باری اُنہوں نے اُس سے پوچھا، ”مَیں تو نہیں ہوں؟“

And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”تم بارہ میں سے ایک ہے۔ وہ میرے ساتھ اپنی روٹی سالن کے برتن میں ڈال رہا ہے۔

The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

ابنِ آدم تو کوچ کر جائے گا جس طرح کلامِ مُقدّس میں لکھا ہے، لیکن اُس شخص پر افسوس جس کے وسیلے سے اُسے دشمن کے حوالے کر دیا جائے گا۔ اُس کے لئے بہتر یہ ہوتا کہ وہ کبھی پیدا ہی نہ ہوتا۔“

And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

کھانے کے دوران عیسیٰ نے روٹی لے کر شکرگزاری کی دعا کی اور اُسے ٹکڑے کر کے شاگردوں کو دے دیا۔ اُس نے کہا، ”یہ لو، یہ میرا بدن ہے۔“

And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

پھر اُس نے مَے کا پیالہ لے کر شکرگزاری کی دعا کی اور اُسے اُنہیں دے دیا۔ سب نے اُس میں سے پی لیا۔

And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”یہ میرا خون ہے، نئے عہد کا وہ خون جو بہتوں کے لئے بہایا جاتا ہے۔

Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ اب سے مَیں انگور کا رس نہیں پیؤں گا، کیونکہ اگلی دفعہ اِسے نئے سرے سے اللہ کی بادشاہی میں ہی پیؤں گا۔“

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

پھر وہ ایک زبور گا کر نکلے اور زیتون کے پہاڑ کے پاس پہنچے۔

And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں بتایا، ”تم سب برگشتہ ہو جاؤ گے، کیونکہ کلامِ مُقدّس میں اللہ فرماتا ہے، ’مَیں چرواہے کو مار ڈالوں گا اور بھیڑیں تتر بتر ہو جائیں گی۔‘

But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

لیکن اپنے جی اُٹھنے کے بعد مَیں تمہارے آگے آگے گلیل پہنچوں گا۔“

But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.

پطرس نے اعتراض کیا، ”دوسرے بےشک سب برگشتہ ہو جائیں، لیکن مَیں کبھی نہیں ہوں گا۔“

And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں تجھے سچ بتاتا ہوں، اِسی رات مرغ کے دوسری دفعہ بانگ دینے سے پہلے پہلے تُو تین بار مجھے جاننے سے انکار کر چکا ہو گا۔“

But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

پطرس نے اصرار کیا، ”ہرگز نہیں! مَیں آپ کو جاننے سے کبھی انکار نہیں کروں گا، چاہے مجھے آپ کے ساتھ مرنا بھی پڑے۔“ دوسروں نے بھی یہی کچھ کہا۔

And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.

وہ ایک باغ میں پہنچے جس کا نام گتسمنی تھا۔ عیسیٰ نے اپنے شاگردوں سے کہا، ”یہاں بیٹھ کر میرا انتظار کرو۔ مَیں دعا کرنے کے لئے آگے جاتا ہوں۔“

And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;

اُس نے پطرس، یعقوب اور یوحنا کو ساتھ لیا۔ وہاں وہ گھبرا کر بےقرار ہونے لگا۔

And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”مَیں دُکھ سے اِتنا دبا ہوا ہوں کہ مرنے کو ہوں۔ یہاں ٹھہر کر جاگتے رہو۔“

And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

کچھ آگے جا کر وہ زمین پر گر گیا اور دعا کرنے لگا کہ اگر ممکن ہو تو مجھے آنے والی گھڑیوں کی تکلیف سے گزرنا نہ پڑے۔

And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

اُس نے کہا، ”اے ابّا، اے باپ! تیرے لئے سب کچھ ممکن ہے۔ دُکھ کا یہ پیالہ مجھ سے ہٹا لے۔ لیکن میری نہیں بلکہ تیری مرضی پوری ہو۔“

And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

وہ اپنے شاگردوں کے پاس واپس آیا تو دیکھا کہ وہ سو رہے ہیں۔ اُس نے پطرس سے کہا، ”شمعون، کیا تُو سو رہا ہے؟ کیا تُو ایک گھنٹا بھی نہیں جاگ سکا؟

Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

جاگتے اور دعا کرتے رہو تاکہ تم آزمائش میں نہ پڑو۔ کیونکہ روح تو تیار ہے، لیکن جسم کمزور۔“

And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.

ایک بار پھر اُس نے جا کر وہی دعا کی جو پہلے کی تھی۔

And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.

جب واپس آیا تو دوبارہ دیکھا کہ وہ سو رہے ہیں، کیونکہ نیند کی بدولت اُن کی آنکھیں بوجھل تھیں۔ وہ نہیں جانتے تھے کہ کیا جواب دیں۔

And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

جب عیسیٰ تیسری بار واپس آیا تو اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”تم ابھی تک سو اور آرام کر رہے ہو؟ بس کافی ہے۔ وقت آ گیا ہے۔ دیکھو، ابنِ آدم کو گناہ گاروں کے حوالے کیا جا رہا ہے۔

Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

اُٹھو۔ آؤ، چلیں۔ دیکھو، مجھے دشمن کے حوالے کرنے والا قریب آ چکا ہے۔“

And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

وہ ابھی یہ بات کر ہی رہا تھا کہ یہوداہ پہنچ گیا، جو بارہ شاگردوں میں سے ایک تھا۔ اُس کے ساتھ تلواروں اور لاٹھیوں سے لیس آدمیوں کا ہجوم تھا۔ اُنہیں راہنما اماموں، شریعت کے علما اور بزرگوں نے بھیجا تھا۔

And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

اِس غدار یہوداہ نے اُنہیں ایک امتیازی نشان دیا تھا کہ جس کو مَیں بوسہ دوں وہی عیسیٰ ہے۔ اُسے گرفتار کر کے لے جائیں۔

And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

جوں ہی وہ پہنچے یہوداہ عیسیٰ کے پاس گیا اور ”اُستاد!“ کہہ کر اُسے بوسہ دیا۔

And they laid their hands on him, and took him.

اِس پر اُنہوں نے اُسے پکڑ کر گرفتار کر لیا۔

And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

لیکن عیسیٰ کے پاس کھڑے ایک شخص نے اپنی تلوار میان سے نکالی اور امامِ اعظم کے غلام کو مار کر اُس کا کان اُڑا دیا۔

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?

عیسیٰ نے اُن سے پوچھا، ”کیا مَیں ڈاکو ہوں کہ تم تلواریں اور لاٹھیاں لئے مجھے گرفتار کرنے نکلے ہو؟

I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

مَیں تو روزانہ بیت المُقدّس میں تمہارے پاس تھا اور تعلیم دیتا رہا، مگر تم نے مجھے گرفتار نہیں کیا۔ لیکن یہ اِس لئے ہو رہا ہے تاکہ کلامِ مُقدّس کی باتیں پوری ہو جائیں۔“

And they all forsook him, and fled.

پھر سب کے سب اُسے چھوڑ کر بھاگ گئے۔

And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:

لیکن ایک نوجوان عیسیٰ کے پیچھے پیچھے چلتا رہا جو صرف چادر اوڑھے ہوئے تھا۔ لوگوں نے اُسے پکڑنے کی کوشش کی،

And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

لیکن وہ چادر چھوڑ کر ننگی حالت میں بھاگ گیا۔

And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

وہ عیسیٰ کو امامِ اعظم کے پاس لے گئے جہاں تمام راہنما امام، بزرگ اور شریعت کے علما بھی جمع تھے۔

And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

اِتنے میں پطرس کچھ فاصلے پر عیسیٰ کے پیچھے پیچھے امامِ اعظم کے صحن تک پہنچ گیا۔ وہاں وہ ملازموں کے ساتھ بیٹھ کر آگ تاپنے لگا۔

And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

مکان کے اندر راہنما امام اور یہودی عدالتِ عالیہ کے تمام افراد عیسیٰ کے خلاف گواہیاں ڈھونڈ رہے تھے تاکہ اُسے سزائے موت دلوا سکیں۔ لیکن کوئی گواہی نہ ملی۔

For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

کافی لوگوں نے اُس کے خلاف جھوٹی گواہی تو دی، لیکن اُن کے بیان ایک دوسرے کے متضاد تھے۔

And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

آخرکار بعض نے کھڑے ہو کر یہ جھوٹی گواہی دی،

We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

”ہم نے اِسے یہ کہتے سنا ہے کہ مَیں انسان کے ہاتھوں کے بنے اِس بیت المُقدّس کو ڈھا کر تین دن کے اندر اندر نیا مقدِس تعمیر کر دوں گا، ایک ایسا مقدِس جو انسان کے ہاتھ نہیں بنائیں گے۔“

But neither so did their witness agree together.

لیکن اُن کی گواہیاں بھی ایک دوسری سے متضاد تھیں۔

And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

پھر امامِ اعظم نے حاضرین کے سامنے کھڑے ہو کر عیسیٰ سے پوچھا، ”کیا تُو کوئی جواب نہیں دے گا؟ یہ کیا گواہیاں ہیں جو یہ لوگ تیرے خلاف دے رہے ہیں؟“

But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

لیکن عیسیٰ خاموش رہا۔ اُس نے کوئی جواب نہ دیا۔ امامِ اعظم نے اُس سے ایک اَور سوال کیا، ”کیا تُو الحمید کا فرزند مسیح ہے؟“

And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”جی، مَیں ہوں۔ اور آئندہ تم ابنِ آدم کو قادرِ مطلق کے دہنے ہاتھ بیٹھے اور آسمان کے بادلوں پر آتے ہوئے دیکھو گے۔“

Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

امامِ اعظم نے رنجش کا اظہار کر کے اپنے کپڑے پھاڑ لئے اور کہا، ”ہمیں مزید گواہوں کی کیا ضرورت رہی!

Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

آپ نے خود سن لیا ہے کہ اِس نے کفر بکا ہے۔ آپ کا کیا فیصلہ ہے؟“ سب نے اُسے سزائے موت کے لائق قرار دیا۔

And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

پھر کچھ اُس پر تھوکنے لگے۔ اُنہوں نے اُس کی آنکھوں پر پٹی باندھی اور اُسے مُکے مار مار کر کہنے لگے، ”نبوّت کر!“ ملازموں نے بھی اُسے تھپڑ مارے۔

And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:

اِس دوران پطرس نیچے صحن میں تھا۔ امامِ اعظم کی ایک نوکرانی وہاں سے گزری

And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

اور دیکھا کہ پطرس وہاں آگ تاپ رہا ہے۔ اُس نے غور سے اُس پر نظر کی اور کہا، ”تم بھی ناصرت کے اُس آدمی عیسیٰ کے ساتھ تھے۔“

But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

لیکن اُس نے انکار کیا، ”مَیں نہیں جانتا یا سمجھتا کہ تُو کیا بات کر رہی ہے۔“ یہ کہہ کر وہ گیٹ کے قریب چلا گیا۔ [اُسی لمحے مرغ نے بانگ دی۔]

And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.

جب نوکرانی نے اُسے وہاں دیکھا تو اُس نے دوبارہ پاس کھڑے لوگوں سے کہا، ”یہ بندہ اُن میں سے ہے۔“

And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.

دوبارہ پطرس نے انکار کیا۔ تھوڑی دیر کے بعد پطرس کے ساتھ کھڑے لوگوں نے بھی اُس سے کہا، ”تم ضرور اُن میں سے ہو کیونکہ تم گلیل کے رہنے والے ہو۔“

But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.

اِس پر پطرس نے قَسم کھا کر کہا، ”مجھ پر لعنت اگر مَیں جھوٹ بول رہا ہوں۔ مَیں اُس آدمی کو نہیں جانتا جس کا ذکر تم کر رہے ہو۔“

And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

فوراً مرغ کی بانگ دوسری مرتبہ سنائی دی۔ پھر پطرس کو وہ بات یاد آئی جو عیسیٰ نے اُس سے کہی تھی، ”مرغ کے دوسری دفعہ بانگ دینے سے پہلے پہلے تُو تین بار مجھے جاننے سے انکار کر چکا ہو گا۔“ اِس پر وہ رو پڑا۔
