Mark 15

And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

صبح سویرے ہی راہنما امام بزرگوں، شریعت کے علما اور پوری یہودی عدالتِ عالیہ کے ساتھ مل کر فیصلے تک پہنچ گئے۔ وہ عیسیٰ کو باندھ کر وہاں سے لے گئے اور رومی گورنر پیلاطس کے حوالے کر دیا۔

And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.

پیلاطس نے اُس سے پوچھا، ”کیا تم یہودیوں کے بادشاہ ہو؟“ عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”جی، آپ خود کہتے ہیں۔“

And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.

راہنما اماموں نے اُس پر بہت الزام لگائے۔

And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.

چنانچہ پیلاطس نے دوبارہ اُس سے سوال کیا، ”کیا تم کوئی جواب نہیں دو گے؟ یہ تو تم پر بہت سے الزامات لگا رہے ہیں۔“

But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے اِس پر بھی کوئی جواب نہ دیا، اور پیلاطس بڑا حیران ہوا۔

Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.

اُن دنوں یہ رواج تھا کہ ہر سال فسح کی عید پر ایک قیدی کو رِہا کر دیا جاتا تھا۔ یہ قیدی عوام سے منتخب کیا جاتا تھا۔

And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

اُس وقت کچھ آدمی جیل میں تھے جو حکومت کے خلاف کسی انقلابی تحریک میں شریک ہوئے تھے اور جنہوں نے بغاوت کے موقع پر قتل و غارت کی تھی۔ اُن میں سے ایک کا نام برابا تھا۔

And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.

اب ہجوم نے پیلاطس کے پاس آ کر اُس سے گزارش کی کہ وہ معمول کے مطابق ایک قیدی کو آزاد کر دے۔

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

پیلاطس نے پوچھا، ”کیا تم چاہتے ہو کہ مَیں یہودیوں کے بادشاہ کو آزاد کر دوں؟“

For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

وہ جانتا تھا کہ راہنما اماموں نے عیسیٰ کو صرف حسد کی بنا پر اُس کے حوالے کیا ہے۔

But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

لیکن راہنما اماموں نے ہجوم کو اُکسایا کہ وہ عیسیٰ کے بجائے برابا کو مانگیں۔

And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

پیلاطس نے سوال کیا، ”پھر مَیں اِس کے ساتھ کیا کروں جس کا نام تم نے یہودیوں کا بادشاہ رکھا ہے؟“

And they cried out again, Crucify him.

وہ چیخے، ”اُسے مصلوب کریں۔“

Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

پیلاطس نے پوچھا، ”کیوں؟ اُس نے کیا جرم کیا ہے؟“ لیکن لوگ مزید شور مچا کر چیختے رہے، ”اُسے مصلوب کریں!“

And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

چنانچہ پیلاطس نے ہجوم کو مطمئن کرنے کی خاطر برابا کو آزاد کر دیا۔ اُس نے عیسیٰ کو کوڑے لگانے کو کہا، پھر اُسے مصلوب کرنے کے لئے فوجیوں کے حوالے کر دیا۔

And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Prætorium; and they call together the whole band.

فوجی عیسیٰ کو گورنر کے محل بنام پریٹوریُم کے صحن میں لے گئے اور پوری پلٹن کو اکٹھا کیا۔

And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,

اُنہوں نے اُسے ارغوانی رنگ کا لباس پہنایا اور کانٹےدار ٹہنیوں کا ایک تاج بنا کر اُس کے سر پر رکھ دیا۔

And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

پھر وہ اُسے سلام کرنے لگے، ”اے یہودیوں کے بادشاہ، آداب!“

And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

لاٹھی سے اُس کے سر پر مار مار کر وہ اُس پر تھوکتے رہے۔ گھٹنے ٹیک کر اُنہوں نے اُسے سجدہ کیا۔

And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

پھر اُس کا مذاق اُڑانے سے تھک کر اُنہوں نے ارغوانی لباس اُتار کر اُسے دوبارہ اُس کے اپنے کپڑے پہنائے۔ پھر وہ اُسے مصلوب کرنے کے لئے باہر لے گئے۔

And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

اُس وقت لبیا کے شہر کرین کا رہنے والا ایک آدمی بنام شمعون دیہات سے شہر کو آ رہا تھا۔ وہ سکندر اور روفس کا باپ تھا۔ جب وہ عیسیٰ اور فوجیوں کے پاس سے گزرنے لگا تو فوجیوں نے اُسے صلیب اُٹھانے پر مجبور کیا۔

And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

یوں چلتے چلتے وہ عیسیٰ کو ایک مقام پر لے گئے جس کا نام گلگتا (یعنی کھوپڑی کا مقام) تھا۔

And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

وہاں اُنہوں نے اُسے مَے پیش کی جس میں مُر ملایا گیا تھا، لیکن اُس نے پینے سے انکار کیا۔

And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

پھر فوجیوں نے اُسے مصلوب کیا اور اُس کے کپڑے آپس میں بانٹ لئے۔ یہ فیصلہ کرنے کے لئے کہ کس کو کیا کیا ملے گا اُنہوں نے قرعہ ڈالا۔

And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

نو بجے صبح کا وقت تھا جب اُنہوں نے اُسے مصلوب کیا۔

And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

ایک تختی صلیب پر لگا دی گئی جس پر یہ الزام لکھا تھا، ”یہودیوں کا بادشاہ۔“

And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.

دو ڈاکوؤں کو بھی عیسیٰ کے ساتھ مصلوب کیا گیا، ایک کو اُس کے دہنے ہاتھ اور دوسرے کو اُس کے بائیں ہاتھ۔

And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

[یوں مُقدّس کلام کا وہ حوالہ پورا ہوا جس میں لکھا ہے، ’اُسے مجرموں میں شمار کیا گیا۔‘]

And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,

جو وہاں سے گزرے اُنہوں نے کفر بک کر اُس کی تذلیل کی اور سر ہلا ہلا کر اپنی حقارت کا اظہار کیا۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”تُو نے تو کہا تھا کہ مَیں بیت المُقدّس کو ڈھا کر اُسے تین دن کے اندر اندر دوبارہ تعمیر کر دوں گا۔

Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

اب صلیب پر سے اُتر کر اپنے آپ کو بچا!“

Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

راہنما اماموں اور شریعت کے علما نے بھی عیسیٰ کا مذاق اُڑا کر کہا، ”اِس نے اَوروں کو بچایا، لیکن اپنے آپ کو نہیں بچا سکتا۔

Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

اسرائیل کا یہ بادشاہ مسیح اب صلیب پر سے اُتر آئے تاکہ ہم یہ دیکھ کر ایمان لائیں۔“ اور جن آدمیوں کو اُس کے ساتھ مصلوب کیا گیا تھا اُنہوں نے بھی اُسے لعن طعن کی۔

And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

دوپہر بارہ بجے پور۱ ملک اندھیرے میں ڈوب گیا۔ یہ تاریکی تین گھنٹوں تک رہی۔

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

پھر تین بجے عیسیٰ اونچی آواز سے پکار اُٹھا، ”ایلی، ایلی، لما شبقتنی؟“ جس کا مطلب ہے، ”اے میرے خدا، اے میرے خدا، تُو نے مجھے کیوں ترک کر دیا ہے؟“

And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

یہ سن کر پاس کھڑے کچھ لوگ کہنے لگے، ”وہ الیاس نبی کو بُلا رہا ہے۔“

And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

کسی نے دوڑ کر مَے کے سرکے میں ایک اسفنج ڈبویا اور اُسے ڈنڈے پر لگا کر عیسیٰ کو چُسانے کی کوشش کی۔ وہ بولا، ”آؤ ہم دیکھیں، شاید الیاس آ کر اُسے صلیب پر سے اُتار لے۔“

And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے بڑے زور سے چلّا کر دم چھوڑ دیا۔

And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

اُسی وقت بیت المُقدّس کے مُقدّس ترین کمرے کے سامنے لٹکا ہوا پردہ اوپر سے لے کر نیچے تک دو حصوں میں پھٹ گیا۔

And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

جب عیسیٰ کے مقابل کھڑے رومی افسر نے دیکھا کہ وہ کس طرح مرا تو اُس نے کہا، ”یہ آدمی واقعی اللہ کا فرزند تھا!“

There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

کچھ خواتین بھی وہاں تھیں جو کچھ فاصلے پر اِس کا مشاہدہ کر رہی تھیں۔ اُن میں مریم مگدلینی، چھوٹے یعقوب اور یوسیس کی ماں مریم اور سلومی بھی تھیں۔

(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

گلیل میں یہ عورتیں عیسیٰ کے پیچھے چل کر اُس کی خدمت کرتی رہی تھیں۔ کئی اَور خواتین بھی وہاں تھیں جو اُس کے ساتھ یروشلم آ گئی تھیں۔

And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

یہ سب کچھ جمعہ کو ہوا جو اگلے دن کے سبت کے لئے تیاری کا دن تھا۔ جب شام ہونے کو تھی

Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

تو ارمتیہ کا ایک آدمی بنام یوسف ہمت کر کے پیلاطس کے پاس گیا اور اُس سے عیسیٰ کی لاش مانگی۔ (یوسف یہودی عدالتِ عالیہ کا نامور ممبر تھا اور اللہ کی بادشاہی کے آنے کے انتظار میں تھا۔)

And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.

پیلاطس یہ سن کر حیران ہوا کہ عیسیٰ مر چکا ہے۔ اُس نے رومی افسر کو بُلا کر اُس سے پوچھا کہ کیا عیسیٰ واقعی مر چکا ہے؟

And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

جب افسر نے اِس کی تصدیق کی تو پیلاطس نے یوسف کو لاش دے دی۔

And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

یوسف نے کفن خرید لیا، پھر عیسیٰ کی لاش اُتار کر اُسے کتان کے کفن میں لپیٹا اور ایک قبر میں رکھ دیا جو چٹان میں تراشی گئی تھی۔ آخر میں اُس نے ایک بڑا پتھر لُڑھکا کر قبر کا منہ بند کر دیا۔

And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

مریم مگدلینی اور یوسیس کی ماں مریم نے دیکھ لیا کہ عیسیٰ کی لاش کہاں رکھی گئی ہے۔
