Proverbs 11

A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

Cumpăna înşelătoare este urîtă Domnului, dar cîntăreala dreaptă Îi este plăcută.

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Cînd vine mîndria, vine şi ruşinea; dar înţelepciunea este cu cei smeriţi.

The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

Neprihănirea oamenilor cinstiţi îi cîrmuieşte fără teamă, dar vicleniile celor stricaţi le aduc pieirea.

Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

În ziua mîniei, bogăţia nu slujeşte la nimic; dar neprihănirea izbăveşte dela moarte.

The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

Nevinovăţia omului fără prihană îi netezeşte calea, dar cel rău cade prin însăş răutatea lui.

The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

Nevinovăţia oamenilor fără prihană îi scapă, dar cei răi sînt prinşi de răutatea lor.

When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

La moartea celui rău, îi piere nădejdea, şi aşteptarea oamenilor nelegiuiţi este nimicită.

The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

Cel neprihănit este scăpat din strîmtoare, şi cel rău îi ia locul.

An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

Cu gura lui omul nelegiuit pierde pe aproapele său, dar cei neprihăniţi sînt scăpaţi prin ştiinţă.

When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

Cînd le merge bine celor neprihăniţi, toată cetatea se bucură; şi cînd pier cei răi, toţi strigă de veselie.

By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

Cetatea se înalţă prin binecuvîntarea oamenilor fără prihană, dar este surpată prin gura celor răi. -

He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

Cine defaimă pe aproapele său este fără minte, dar omul cu pricepere primeşte şi tace. -

A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Cine umblă cu bîrfeli dă pe faţă lucruri ascunse, dar sufletul credincios ţine ce i s'a încredinţat. -

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Cînd nu este chibzuinţă, poporul cade; dar biruinţa vine prin marele număr de sfetnici. -

He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

Cui se pune chezaş pentru altul, îi merge rău, dar cine se teme să se pună chezaş este liniştit. -

A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

O femeie plăcută capătă cinste, şi cei asupritori capătă bogăţie. -

The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

Omul milostiv îşi face bine sufletului său, dar omul fără milă îşi turbură însăş carnea lui. -

The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

Cel rău dobîndeşte un cîştig înşelător, dar cel ce samănă neprihănirea are o adevărată plată. -

As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

Adevărata neprihănire duce la viaţă, dar cel ce urmăreşte răul găseşte moartea. -

They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

Cei cu inima stricată sînt o scîrbă înaintea Domnului, dar cei ce umblă fără prihană Îi sînt plăcuţi.

Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

Hotărît: cel rău nu va rămînea nepedepsit, dar sămînţa celor neprihăniţi va fi scăpată. -

As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

Femeia frumoasă şi fără minte este ca un inel de aur pus în rîtul unui porc. -

The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

Dorinţa celor neprihăniţi este numai bine; dar aşteptarea celor răi este numai mînie-.

There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

Unul, care dă cu mîna largă, ajunge mai bogat; şi altul, care economiseşte prea mult, nu face decît să sărăcească. -

The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

Sufletul binefăcător va fi săturat, şi cel ce udă pe alţii va fi udat şi el. -

He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

Cine opreşte grîul este blestemat de popor, dar pe capul celui ce -l vinde vine binecuvîntarea. -

He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

Cine urmăreşte binele, îşi cîştigă bunăvoinţă, dar cine urmăreşte răul este atins de el. -

He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

Cine se încrede în bogăţii va cădea, dar cei neprihăniţi vor înverzi ca frunzişul. -

He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

Cine îşi turbură casa va moşteni vînt, şi nebunul va fi robul omului înţelept! -

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Rodul celui neprihănit este un pom de viaţă, şi cel înţelept cîştigă suflete. -

Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

Iată, cel neprihănit este răsplătit pe pămînt; cu cît mai mult cel rău şi păcătos!
