Job 15

Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,

Niin vastasi Eliphas Temanilainen ja sanoi:

Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

Pitääkö taitavan niin tuuleen puhuman, ja täyttämän vatsansa tuulella?

Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

Sinä nuhtelet kelvottomilla sanoilla ja puheilla, joista ei ole hyödytystä.

Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.

Sinä olet hyljännyt pelvon, ja puhut ylönkatseella Jumalan edessä.

For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

Sillä sinun pahuutes opettaa niin sinun suus; ja sinä olet valinnut viekasten kielen.

Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

Sinun suus pitää tuomitseman sinun, ja en minä: sinun huules pitää todistaman sinua vastaan:

Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?

Oletkos ensimäinen ihminen, joka syntynyt on? eli ennen (kaikkia) vuoria luotu?

Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

Oletko sinä kuullut Jumalan salaisen neuvon? ja onko taito halvempi sinua?

What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?

Mitä sinä tiedät, jota emme tiedä; mitäs ymmärrät, joka ei ole meidän tykönämme?

With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

Harmaapäät ja vanhat ovat meidän tykönämme, jotka ennen ovat eläneet kuin sinun isäs.

Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?

Pitäiskö Jumalan lohdutukset oleman halvat sinulle? Eli onko jotakin salaista tykönäs?

Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,

Mitä sinun sydämes aikoi? ja mitäs vilkutat silmiäs?

That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?

Kuinka sinä asetat mieles Jumalaa vastaan? että sinä senkaltaiset sanat suustas päästät.

What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Mikä on ihminen, että hän olis puhdas? ja että hän olis hurskas, joka vaimosta syntynyt on?

Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

Katso, hänen pyhäinsä seassa ei ole yhtään nuhteetointa; ja taivaat ei ole puhtaat hänen edessänsä.

How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

Kuinka paljon enemmin ihminen on kauhia ja ilkiä, joka juo vääryyttä niinkuin vettä?

I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;

Minä osoitan sinulle sen, kuule minua: minä luettelen sinulle, mitä minä nähnyt olen:

Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

Mitä taitavat sanoneet ovat, jota ei yksikään heidän isistänsä ole salannut.

Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

Joille ainoille maa annettu on, niin ettei yksikään outo saanut käydä heidän keskellänsä.

The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.

Jumalatoin vapisee kaiken elinaikansa, ja tyrannin vuosiluku on peitetty.

A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

Pelvon ääni on hänen korvissansa, että rauhassakin pitää hävittäjä tuleman hänen päällensä.

He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.

Ei hän usko palajavansa pimeydestä, ja varoo aina miekkaa.

He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

Kuin hän lähtee sinne ja tänne elatuksensa jälkeen, niin hän luulee aina pimeyden päivän käsissänsä olevan.

Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

Ahdistus ja hätä peljättävät häntä, ja yllyttävät hänen, niinkuin kuningas valmis sotaan.

For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.

Sillä hän on ojentanut kätensä Jumalaa vastaan, ja vahvistanut itsensä Kaikkivaltiasta vastaan.

He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:

Hän juoksee päätäpäin häntä vastaan, ja seisoo ynseästi häntä vastaan.

Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.

Hän on peittänyt kasvonsa lihavuudellansa, ja lihoittanut ja paisuttanut itsensä.

And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

Mutta hänen pitää asuman hävitetyssä kaupungissa ja asumattomissa huoneissa, jotka roukkioksi riutumallansa ovat.

He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.

Ei hänen pidä rikastuman, eikä hänen tavaransa pysymän, eikä hänen onnensa pidä leviämän maassa.

He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

Ei hänen pidä pääsemän pimeydestä: tulen liekki kuivaa hänen oksansa, ja hänen suunsa hengellä katoo.

Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.

Ei hän taida uskaltaa turhuuteen, että hän on petetty; sillä turhuus on hänen palkkansa.

It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.

Hän loppuu ennen aikaansa, ja hänen oksansa ei pidä vihoittaman.

He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

Hän poimitaan niinkuin kypsymätöin marja viinapuusta, ja niinkuin öljypuu varistaa kukoistuksensa.

For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

Sillä ulkokullattuin kokous pitää oleman yksinäinen, ja tulen pitää polttaman lahjain ottajan huoneen,

They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.

Hän siittää onnettomuuden, ja synnyttää vaivaisuuden; ja heidän vatsansa valmistaa petoksen.
