Job 15

इस पर तेमान नगर के निवासी एलीपज ने अय्यूब को उत्तर देते हुए कहा:

Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,

“अय्यूब, य़दि तू सचमुच बुद्धिमान होता तो रोते शब्दों से तू उत्तर न देता। क्या तू सोचता है कि कोई विवेकी पुरुष पूर्व की लू की तरह उत्तर देता है?

Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

क्या तू सोचता है कि कोई बुद्धिमान पुरुष व्यर्थ के शब्दों से और उन भाषणों से तर्क करेगा जिनका कोई लाभ नहीं?

Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

अय्यूब, यदि तू मनमानी करता है तो कोई भी व्यक्ति परमेश्वर की न तो आदर करेगा, न ही उससे प्रार्थना करेगा।

Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.

तू जिन बातों को कहता है वह तेरा पाप साफ साफ दिखाती हैं। अय्यूब, तू चतुराई भरे शब्दों का प्रयोग करके अपने पाप को छिपाने का प्रयत्न कर रहा है।

For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

तू उचित नहीं यह प्रमाणित करने की मुझे आवश्यकता नहीं है। क्योंकि तू स्वयं अपने मुख से जो बातें कहता है, वह दिखाती हैं कि तू बुरा है और तेरे ओंठ स्वयं तेरे विरुद्ध बोलते हैं।

Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

“अय्यूब, क्या तू सोचता है कि जन्म लेने वाला पहला व्यक्ति तू ही है? और पहाड़ों की रचना से भी पहले तेरा जन्म हुआ।

Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?

क्या तूने परमेश्वर की रहस्यपूर्ण योजनाऐं सुनी थी क्या तू सोचा करता है कि एक मात्र तू ही बुद्धिमान है?

Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

अय्यूब, तू हम से अधिक कुछ नहीं जानता है। वे सभी बातें हम समझते हैं, जिनकी तुझको समझ है।

What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?

वे लोग जिनके बाल सफेद हैं और वृद्ध पुरुष हैं वे हमसे सहमत रहते हैं। हाँ, तेरे पिता से भी वृद्ध लोग हमारे पक्ष में हैं।

With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

परमेश्वर तुझको सुख देने का प्रयत्न करता है, किन्तु यह तेरे लिये पर्याप्त नहीं है। परमेश्वर का सुसन्देश बड़ी नम्रता के साथ हमने तुझे सुनाया।

Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?

अय्यूब, क्यों तेरा हृदय तुझे खींच ले जाता है? तू क्रोध में क्यों हम पर आँखें तरेरता है?

Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,

जब तू इन क्रोध भरे वचनों को कहता है, तो तू परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध होता है।

That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?

“सचमुच कोई मनुष्य पवित्र नहीं हो सकता। मनुष्य स्त्री से पैदा हुआ है, और धरती पर रहता है, अत: वह उचित नहीं हो सकता।

What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

यहाँ तक कि परमेश्वर अपने दूतों तक का विश्वास नहीं करता है। यहाँ तक कि स्वर्ग जहाँ स्वर्गदूत रहते हैं पवित्र नहीं है।

Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

मनुष्य तो और अधिक पापी है। वह मनुष्य मलिन और घिनौना है वह बुराई को जल की तरह गटकता है।

How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

“अय्यूब, मेरी बात तू सुन और मैं उसकी व्याख्या तुझसे करूँगा। मैं तुझे बताऊँगा, जो मैं जानता हूँ।

I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;

मैं तुझको वे बातें बताऊँगा, जिन्हें विवेकी पुरुषों ने मुझ को बताया है और विवेकी पुरुषों को उनके पूर्वजों ने बताई थी। उन विवेकी पुरुषों ने कुछ भी मुझसे नहीं छिपाया।

Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

केवल उनके पूर्वजों को ही देश दिया गया था। उनके देश में कोई परदेशी नहीं था।

Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

दुष्ट जन जीवन भर पीड़ा झेलेगा और क्रूर जन उन सभी वर्षों में जो उसके लिये निश्चित किये गये है, दु:ख उठाता रहेगा।

The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.

उसके कानों में भयंकर ध्वनियाँ होगी। जब वह सोचेगा कि वह सुरक्षित है तभी उसके शत्रु उस पर हमला करेंगे।

A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

दुष्ट जन बहुत अधिक निराश रहता है और उसके लिये कोई आशा नहीं है, कि वह अंधकार से बच निकल पाये। कहीं एक ऐसी तलवार है जो उसको मार डालने की प्रतिज्ञा कर रही है।

He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.

वह इधर—उधर भटकता हुआ फिरता है किन्तु उसकी देह गिद्धों का भोजन बनेगी। उसको यह पता है कि उसकी मृत्य़ु बहुत निकट है।

He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

चिंता और यातनाऐं उसे डरपोक बनाती है और ये बातें उस पर ऐसे वार करती है, जैसे कोई राजा उसके नष्ट कर डालने को तत्पर हो।

Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

क्यो? क्योंकि दुष्ट जन परमेश्वर की आज्ञा मानने से इन्कार करता है, वह परमेश्वर को घूसा दिखाता है। और सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर को पराजित करने का प्रयास करता है।

For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.

वह दुष्ट जन बहुत हठी है। वह परमेश्वर पर एक मोटी मजबूत ढाल से वार करना चाहता है।

He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:

दुष्ट जन के मुख पर चर्बी चढ़ी रहती है। उसकी कमर माँस भर जाने से मोटी हो जाती है।

Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.

किन्तु वह उजड़े हुये नगरों में रहेगा। वह ऐसे घरों में रहेगा जहाँ कोई नहीं रहता है। जो घर कमजोर हैं और जो शीघ्र ही खण्डहर बन जायेंगे।

And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

दुष्ट जन अधिक समय तक धनी नहीं रहेगा उसकी सम्पत्तियाँ नहीं बढ़ती रहेंगी।

He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.

दुष्ट जन अन्धेरे से नहीं बच पायेगा। वह उस वृक्ष सा होगा जिसकी शाखाऐं आग से झुलस गई हैं। परमेश्वर की फूँक दुष्टों को उड़ा देगी।

He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

दुष्ट जन व्यर्थ वस्तुओं के भरोसे रह कर अपने को मूर्ख न बनाये क्योंकि उसे कुछ नहीं प्राप्त होगा।

Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.

दुष्ट जन अपनी आयु के पूरा होने से पहले ही बूढ़ा हो जायेगा और सूख जायेगा। वह एक सूखी हुई डाली सा हो जायेगा जो फिर कभी भी हरी नहीं होगी।

It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.

दुष्ट जन उस अंगूर की बेल सा होता है जिस के फल पकने से पहले ही झड़ जाते हैं। ऐसा व्यक्ति जैतून के पेड़ सा होता है, जिसके फूल झड़ जाते हैं।

He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

क्यों? क्योंकि परमेश्वर विहीन लोग खाली हाथ रहेंगे। ऐसे लोग जिनको पैसों से प्यार है, घूस लेते हैं। उनके घर आग से नष्ट हो जायेंगे।

For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

वे पीड़ा का कुचक्र रचते हैं और बुरे काम करते हैं। वे लोगों को छलने के ढंगों की योजना बनाते हैं।”

They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
