Proverbs 20

Виното е присмивател и спиртното питие — крамолник и който се опива от него, не е благоразумен.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Заплахата на царя е като реване на лъв; който го раздразня, съгрешава против живота си.

The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

За човека е чест да страни от препирня, а всеки глупак ще се втурне в нея.

It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

Ленивият не оре заради зимата — ще потърси по време на жетва и няма да има нищо.

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

Намерението в сърцето на човека е като дълбока вода, но разумният човек ще го извади.

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Повечето хора разгласяват всеки своята доброта, но кой може да намери верен човек?

Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

Праведният, който ходи в чистотата си — децата му след него са блажени.

The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

Цар, който седи на съдийски престол, разпръсва всяко зло с очите си.

A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

Кой може да каже: Очистих сърцето си, чист съм от греха си?

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Различни грамове и различни мерки — и двете са мерзост за ГОСПОДА.

Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

Даже и детето се познава по това, което върши — дали делата му са чисти и прави.

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

Слушащото ухо и гледащото око — ГОСПОД е направил и двете.

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

Не обичай спането, за да не обеднееш; отвори очите си и ще се наситиш с хляб.

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

Лошо! Лошо! — казва купувачът, но когато си отиде, тогава се хвали.

It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

Има злато и изобилие от скъпоценни камъни, но устните на знанието са скъпоценно украшение.

There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

Вземи дрехата на този, който става поръчител на чужд човек, вземи му залог заради чужденците.

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

Хлябът на лъжата е сладък на човека, но после устата му ще се напълни с камъчета.

Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

Намеренията се утвърждават чрез съветване, затова с мъдър съвет води война.

Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

Който обикаля като клюкар, открива тайни, затова не се свързвай с такъв, който отваря широко устните си.

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Който кълне баща си или майка си, светилникът му ще угасне в най-мрачната тъмнина.

Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

Наследството, бързо придобито отначало, няма да бъде благословено накрая.

An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

Да не кажеш: Ще отплатя за злото! Почакай ГОСПОДА и Той ще те избави.

Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

Различни грамове са мерзост за ГОСПОДА и неверни везни не са добри.

Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

От ГОСПОДА са стъпките на мъжа — и как човек да разбере пътя си?

Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

Примка е за човека да казва прибързано: Посвещавам! — и след като е дал клетви, да размисля.

It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.

Мъдър цар отлъчва безбожните и докарва върху тях колелото.

A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

Духът на човека е ГОСПОДНО светило, изпитващо всички вътрешни части на тялото.

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Милост и истина пазят царя и той поддържа престола си с милост.

Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.

Украшението на младите мъже е силата им, а великолепието на старците е бялата коса.

The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

Удари, които нараняват, очистват злото; и удари — най-вътрешните части на тялото.

The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.
