John 6

اِس کے بعد عیسیٰ نے گلیل کی جھیل کو پار کیا۔ (جھیل کا دوسرا نام تبریاس تھا۔)

After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

ایک بڑا ہجوم اُس کے پیچھے لگ گیا تھا، کیونکہ اُس نے الٰہی نشان دکھا کر مریضوں کو شفا دی تھی اور لوگوں نے اِس کا مشاہدہ کیا تھا۔

And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

پھر عیسیٰ پہاڑ پر چڑھ کر اپنے شاگردوں کے ساتھ بیٹھ گیا۔

And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

(یہودی عیدِ فسح قریب آ گئی تھی۔)

And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

وہاں بیٹھے عیسیٰ نے اپنی نظر اُٹھائی تو دیکھا کہ ایک بڑا ہجوم پہنچ رہا ہے۔ اُس نے فلپّس سے پوچھا، ”ہم کہاں سے کھانا خریدیں تاکہ اُنہیں کھلائیں؟“

When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

(یہ اُس نے فلپّس کو آزمانے کے لئے کہا۔ خود تو وہ جانتا تھا کہ کیا کرے گا۔)

And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

فلپّس نے جواب دیا، ”اگر ہر ایک کو صرف تھوڑا سا ملے توبھی چاندی کے 200 سِکے کافی نہیں ہوں گے۔“

Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

پھر شمعون پطرس کا بھائی اندریاس بول اُٹھا،

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

”یہاں ایک لڑکا ہے جس کے پاس جَو کی پانچ روٹیاں اور دو مچھلیاں ہیں۔ مگر اِتنے لوگوں میں یہ کیا ہیں!“

There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”لوگوں کو بٹھا دو۔“ اُس جگہ بہت گھاس تھی۔ چنانچہ سب بیٹھ گئے۔ (صرف مردوں کی تعداد 5,000 تھی۔)

And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

عیسیٰ نے روٹیاں لے کر شکرگزاری کی دعا کی اور اُنہیں بیٹھے ہوئے لوگوں میں تقسیم کروایا۔ یہی کچھ اُس نے مچھلیوں کے ساتھ بھی کیا۔ اور سب نے جی بھر کر روٹی کھائی۔

And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

جب سب سیر ہو گئے تو عیسیٰ نے شاگردوں کو بتایا، ”اب بچے ہوئے ٹکڑے جمع کرو تاکہ کچھ ضائع نہ ہو جائے۔“

When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

جب اُنہوں نے بچا ہوا کھانا اکٹھا کیا تو جَو کی پانچ روٹیوں کے ٹکڑوں سے بارہ ٹوکرے بھر گئے۔

Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

جب لوگوں نے عیسیٰ کو یہ الٰہی نشان دکھاتے دیکھا تو اُنہوں نے کہا، ”یقیناً یہ وہی نبی ہے جسے دنیا میں آنا تھا۔“

Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

عیسیٰ کو معلوم ہوا کہ وہ آ کر اُسے زبردستی بادشاہ بنانا چاہتے ہیں، اِس لئے وہ دوبارہ اُن سے الگ ہو کر اکیلا ہی کسی پہاڑ پر چڑھ گیا۔

When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

شام کو شاگرد جھیل کے پاس گئے

And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

اور کشتی پر سوار ہو کر جھیل کے پار شہر کفرنحوم کے لئے روانہ ہوئے۔ اندھیرا ہو چکا تھا اور عیسیٰ اب تک اُن کے پاس واپس نہیں آیا تھا۔

And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

تیز ہَوا کے باعث جھیل میں لہریں اُٹھنے لگیں۔

And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

کشتی کو کھیتے کھیتے شاگرد چار یا پانچ کلو میٹر کا سفر طے کر چکے تھے کہ اچانک عیسیٰ نظر آیا۔ وہ پانی پر چلتا ہوا کشتی کی طرف بڑھ رہا تھا۔ شاگرد دہشت زدہ ہو گئے۔

So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

لیکن اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”مَیں ہی ہوں۔ خوف نہ کرو۔“

But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

وہ اُسے کشتی میں بٹھانے پر آمادہ ہوئے۔ اور کشتی اُسی لمحے اُس جگہ پہنچ گئی جہاں وہ جانا چاہتے تھے۔

Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

ہجوم تو جھیل کے پار رہ گیا تھا۔ اگلے دن لوگوں کو پتا چلا کہ شاگرد ایک ہی کشتی لے کر چلے گئے ہیں اور کہ اُس وقت عیسیٰ کشتی میں نہیں تھا۔

The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

پھر کچھ کشتیاں تبریاس سے اُس مقام کے قریب پہنچیں جہاں خداوند عیسیٰ نے روٹی کے لئے شکرگزاری کی دعا کر کے اُسے لوگوں کو کھلایا تھا۔

(Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

جب لوگوں نے دیکھا کہ نہ عیسیٰ اور نہ اُس کے شاگرد وہاں ہیں تو وہ کشتیوں پر سوار ہو کر عیسیٰ کو ڈھونڈتے ڈھونڈتے کفرنحوم پہنچے۔

When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

جب اُنہوں نے اُسے جھیل کے پار پایا تو پوچھا، ”اُستاد، آپ کس طرح یہاں پہنچ گئے؟“

And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں، تم مجھے اِس لئے نہیں ڈھونڈ رہے کہ الٰہی نشان دیکھے ہیں بلکہ اِس لئے کہ تم نے جی بھر کر روٹی کھائی ہے۔

Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

ایسی خوراک کے لئے جد و جہد نہ کرو جو گل سڑجاتی ہے، بلکہ ایسی کے لئے جو ابدی زندگی تک قائم رہتی ہے اور جو ابنِ آدم تم کو دے گا، کیونکہ خدا باپ نے اُس پر اپنی تصدیق کی مُہر لگائی ہے۔“

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

اِس پر اُنہوں نے پوچھا، ”ہمیں کیا کرنا چاہئے تاکہ اللہ کا مطلوبہ کام کریں؟“

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”اللہ کا کام یہ ہے کہ تم اُس پر ایمان لاؤ جسے اُس نے بھیجا ہے۔“

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

اُنہوں نے کہا، ”تو پھر آپ کیا الٰہی نشان دکھائیں گے جسے دیکھ کر ہم آپ پر ایمان لائیں؟ آپ کیا کام سرانجام دیں گے؟

They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

ہمارے باپ دادا نے تو ریگستان میں مَن کھایا۔ چنانچہ کلامِ مُقدّس میں لکھا ہے کہ موسیٰ نے اُنہیں آسمان سے روٹی کھلائی۔“

Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ خود موسیٰ نے تم کو آسمان سے روٹی نہیں کھلائی بلکہ میرے باپ نے۔ وہی تم کو آسمان سے حقیقی روٹی دیتا ہے۔

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

کیونکہ اللہ کی روٹی وہ شخص ہے جو آسمان پر سے اُتر کر دنیا کو زندگی بخشتا ہے۔“

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

اُنہوں نے کہا، ”خداوند، ہمیں یہ روٹی ہر وقت دیا کریں۔“

Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

جواب میں عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”مَیں ہی زندگی کی روٹی ہوں۔ جو میرے پاس آئے اُسے پھر کبھی بھوک نہیں لگے گی۔ اور جو مجھ پر ایمان لائے اُسے پھر کبھی پیاس نہیں لگے گی۔

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

لیکن جس طرح مَیں تم کو بتا چکا ہوں، تم نے مجھے دیکھا اور پھر بھی ایمان نہیں لائے۔

But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

جتنے بھی باپ نے مجھے دیئے ہیں وہ میرے پاس آئیں گے اور جو بھی میرے پاس آئے گا اُسے مَیں ہرگز نکال نہ دوں گا۔

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

کیونکہ مَیں اپنی مرضی پوری کرنے کے لئے آسمان سے نہیں اُترا بلکہ اُس کی جس نے مجھے بھیجا ہے۔

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

اور جس نے مجھے بھیجا اُس کی مرضی یہ ہے کہ جتنے بھی اُس نے مجھے دیئے ہیں اُن میں سے مَیں ایک کو بھی کھو نہ دوں بلکہ سب کو قیامت کے دن مُردوں میں سے پھر زندہ کروں۔

And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

کیونکہ میرے باپ کی مرضی یہی ہے کہ جو بھی فرزند کو دیکھ کر اُس پر ایمان لائے اُسے ابدی زندگی حاصل ہو۔ ایسے شخص کو مَیں قیامت کے دن مُردوں میں سے پھر زندہ کروں گا۔“

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

یہ سن کر یہودی اِس لئے بڑبڑانے لگے کہ اُس نے کہا تھا، ”مَیں ہی وہ روٹی ہوں جو آسمان پر سے اُتر آئی ہے۔“

The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

اُنہوں نے اعتراض کیا، ”کیا یہ عیسیٰ بن یوسف نہیں، جس کے باپ اور ماں سے ہم واقف ہیں؟ وہ کیونکر کہہ سکتا ہے کہ ’مَیں آسمان سے اُترا ہوں‘؟“

And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

عیسیٰ نے جواب میں کہا، ”آپس میں مت بڑبڑاؤ۔

Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

صرف وہ شخص میرے پاس آ سکتا ہے جسے باپ جس نے مجھے بھیجا ہے میرے پاس کھینچ لایا ہے۔ ایسے شخص کو مَیں قیامت کے دن مُردوں میں سے پھر زندہ کروں گا۔

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

نبیوں کے صحیفوں میں لکھا ہے، ’سب اللہ سے تعلیم پائیں گے۔‘ جو بھی اللہ کی سن کر اُس سے سیکھتا ہے وہ میرے پاس آ جاتا ہے۔

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

اِس کا مطلب یہ نہیں کہ کسی نے کبھی باپ کو دیکھا۔ صرف ایک ہی نے باپ کو دیکھا ہے، وہی جو اللہ کی طرف سے ہے۔

Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ جو ایمان رکھتا ہے اُسے ابدی زندگی حاصل ہے۔

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

زندگی کی روٹی مَیں ہوں۔

I am that bread of life.

تمہارے باپ دادا ریگستان میں مَن کھاتے رہے، توبھی وہ مر گئے۔

Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

لیکن یہاں آسمان سے اُترنے والی ایسی روٹی ہے جسے کھا کر انسان نہیں مرتا۔

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

مَیں ہی زندگی کی وہ روٹی ہوں جو آسمان سے اُتر آئی ہے۔ جو اِس روٹی سے کھائے وہ ابد تک زندہ رہے گا۔ اور یہ روٹی میرا گوشت ہے جو مَیں دنیا کو زندگی مہیا کرنے کی خاطر پیش کروں گا۔“

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

یہودی بڑی سرگرمی سے ایک دوسرے سے بحث کرنے لگے، ”یہ آدمی ہمیں کس طرح اپنا گوشت کھلا سکتا ہے؟“

The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

عیسیٰ نے اُن سے کہا، ”مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ صرف ابنِ آدم کا گوشت کھانے اور اُس کا خون پینے ہی سے تم میں زندگی ہو گی۔

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

جو میرا گوشت کھائے اور میرا خون پیئے ابدی زندگی اُس کی ہے اور مَیں اُسے قیامت کے دن مُردوں میں سے پھر زندہ کروں گا۔

Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

کیونکہ میرا گوشت حقیقی خوراک اور میرا خون حقیقی پینے کی چیز ہے۔

For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

جو میرا گوشت کھاتا اور میرا خون پیتا ہے وہ مجھ میں قائم رہتا ہے اور مَیں اُس میں۔

He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

مَیں اُس زندہ باپ کی وجہ سے زندہ ہوں جس نے مجھے بھیجا۔ اِسی طرح جو مجھے کھاتا ہے وہ میری ہی وجہ سے زندہ رہے گا۔

As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

یہی وہ روٹی ہے جو آسمان سے اُتری ہے۔ تمہارے باپ دادا مَن کھانے کے باوجود مر گئے، لیکن جو یہ روٹی کھائے گا وہ ابد تک زندہ رہے گا۔“

This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

عیسیٰ نے یہ باتیں اُس وقت کیں جب وہ کفرنحوم میں یہودی عبادت خانے میں تعلیم دے رہا تھا۔

These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

یہ سن کر اُس کے بہت سے شاگردوں نے کہا، ”یہ باتیں ناگوار ہیں۔ کون اِنہیں سن سکتا ہے!“

Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

عیسیٰ کو معلوم تھا کہ میرے شاگرد میرے بارے میں بڑبڑا رہے ہیں، اِس لئے اُس نے کہا، ”کیا تم کو اِن باتوں سے ٹھیس لگی ہے؟

When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

تو پھر تم کیا سوچو گے جب ابنِ آدم کو اوپر جاتے دیکھو گے جہاں وہ پہلے تھا؟

What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

اللہ کا روح ہی زندہ کرتا ہے جبکہ جسمانی طاقت کا کوئی فائدہ نہیں ہوتا۔ جو باتیں مَیں نے تم کو بتائی ہیں وہ روح اور زندگی ہیں۔

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

لیکن تم میں سے کچھ ہیں جو ایمان نہیں رکھتے۔“ (عیسیٰ تو شروع سے ہی جانتا تھا کہ کون کون ایمان نہیں رکھتے اور کون مجھے دشمن کے حوالے کرے گا۔)

But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

پھر اُس نے کہا، ”اِس لئے مَیں نے تم کو بتایا کہ صرف وہ شخص میرے پاس آ سکتا ہے جسے باپ کی طرف سے یہ توفیق ملے۔“

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

اُس وقت سے اُس کے بہت سے شاگرد اُلٹے پاؤں پھر گئے اور آئندہ کو اُس کے ساتھ نہ چلے۔

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

تب عیسیٰ نے بارہ شاگردوں سے پوچھا، ”کیا تم بھی چلے جانا چاہتے ہو؟“

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

شمعون پطرس نے جواب دیا، ”خداوند، ہم کس کے پاس جائیں؟ ابدی زندگی کی باتیں تو آپ ہی کے پاس ہیں۔

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

اور ہم نے ایمان لا کر جان لیا ہے کہ آپ اللہ کے قدوس ہیں۔“

And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

جواب میں عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”کیا مَیں نے تم بارہ کو نہیں چنا؟ توبھی تم میں سے ایک شخص شیطان ہے۔“

Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

(وہ شمعون اسکریوتی کے بیٹے یہوداہ کی طرف اشارہ کر رہا تھا جو بارہ شاگردوں میں سے ایک تھا اور جس نے بعد میں اُسے دشمن کے حوالے کر دیا۔)

He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
