Proverbs 29

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Чоловік остережуваний, та твердошиїй, буде зламаний нагло, і ліку не буде йому.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Коли множаться праведні, радіє народ, як панує ж безбожний то стогне народ.

Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

Людина, що мудрість кохає, потішує батька свого, а хто попасає блудниць, той губить маєток.

The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

Цар утримує край правосуддям, а людина хабарна руйнує його.

A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

Людина, що другові своєму підлещує, на стопах його пастку ставить.

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

У провині людини лихої знаходиться пастка, а справедливий радіє та тішиться.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

Праведний знає про право вбогих, безбожний же не розуміє пізнання про це.

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

Люди глузливі підбурюють місто, а мудрі утишують гнів.

If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

Мудра людина, що правується із нерозумним, то чи гнівається, чи сміється, спокою не знає.

The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

Кровожерці ненавидять праведного, справедливі ж шукають спасти його душу.

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

Глупак увесь свій гнів увиявляє, а мудрий назад його стримує.

If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

Володар, що слухає слова брехливого, безбожні всі слуги його!

The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

Убогий й гнобитель стрічаються, їм обом Господь очі освітлює.

The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

Як цар правдою судить убогих, стоятиме трон його завжди.

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Різка й поука премудрість дають, а дитина, залишена тільки собі, засоромлює матір свою.

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

Як множаться несправедливі провина розмножується, але праведні бачитимуть їхній упадок.

Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

Карай сина свого й він тебе заспокоїть, і приємнощі дасть для твоєї душі.

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Без пророчих видінь люд розбещений, коли ж стереже він Закона блаженний.

A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

Раб словами не буде покараний, хоч він розуміє, але не послухає.

Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Чи бачив людину, квапливу в словах своїх? Більша надія глупцеві, ніж їй!

He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

Хто розпещує змалку свого раба, то кінець його буде невдячний.

An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Гнівлива людина викликує сварку, а лютий вчиняє багато провин.

A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Гординя людини її понижає, а чести набуває покірливий духом.

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

Хто ділиться з злодієм, той ненавидить душу свою, він чує прокляття, та не виявляє.

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Страх перед людиною пастку дає, хто ж надію складає на Господа, буде безпечний.

Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

Багато шукають для себе обличчя володаря, та від Господа суд для людини.

An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

Насильник огида для праведних, а простодорогий огида безбожному.
