Proverbs 10

The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

Proverbi di Salomone. Un figliuol savio rallegra suo padre, ma un figliuolo stolto è il cordoglio di sua madre.

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

I tesori d’empietà non giovano, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.

The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

L’Eterno non permette che il giusto soffra la fame, ma respinge insoddisfatta l’avidità degli empi.

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

Chi lavora con mano pigra impoverisce, ma la mano dei diligenti fa arricchire.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Chi raccoglie nella estate è un figliuolo prudente, ma chi dorme durante la raccolta è un figliuolo che fa vergogna.

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Benedizioni vengono sul capo dei giusti, ma la violenza cuopre la bocca degli empi.

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

La memoria del giusto e in benedizione, ma il nome degli empi marcisce.

The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

Il savio di cuore accetta i precetti, ma lo stolto di labbra va in precipizio.

He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

Chi cammina nella integrità cammina sicuro, ma chi va per vie tortuose sarà scoperto.

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

Chi ammicca con l’occhio cagiona dolore, e lo stolto di labbra va in precipizio.

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

La bocca del giusto è una fonte di vita, ma la bocca degli empi nasconde violenza.

Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

L’odio provoca liti, ma l’amore cuopre ogni fallo.

In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

Sulle labbra dell’uomo intelligente si trova la sapienza, ma il bastone è per il dosso di chi è privo di senno.

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

I savi tengono in serbo la scienza, ma la bocca dello stolto e una rovina imminente.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

I beni del ricco sono la sua città forte; la rovina de’ poveri è la loro povertà.

The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

Il lavoro del giusto serve alla vita, le entrate dell’empio servono al peccato.

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

Chi tien conto della correzione, segue il cammino della vita; ma chi non fa caso della riprensione si smarrisce.

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

Chi dissimula l’odio ha labbra bugiarde, e chi spande la calunnia è uno stolto.

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

Nella moltitudine delle parole non manca la colpa, ma chi frena le sue labbra è prudente.

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

La lingua del giusto è argento eletto; il cuore degli empi val poco.

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Le labbra del giusto pascono molti, ma gli stolti muoiono per mancanza di senno.

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Quel che fa ricchi è la benedizione dell’Eterno e il tormento che uno si dà non le aggiunge nulla.

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

Commettere un delitto, per lo stolto, è come uno spasso; tale è la sapienza per l’uomo accorto.

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

All’empio succede quello che teme, ma ai giusti è concesso quel che desiderano.

As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

Come procella che passa, l’empio non è più, ma il giusto ha un fondamento eterno.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

Come l’aceto ai denti e il fumo agli occhi, così è il pigro per chi lo manda.

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Il timor dell’Eterno accresce i giorni ma gli anni degli empi saranno accorciati.

The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

L’aspettazione dei giusti è letizia, ma la speranza degli empi perirà.

The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

La via dell’Eterno è una fortezza per l’uomo integro, ma una rovina per gli operatori d’iniquità.

The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

Il giusto non sarà mai smosso, ma gli empi non abiteranno la terra.

The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

La bocca del giusto sgorga sapienza, ma la lingua perversa sarà soppressa.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.

Le labbra del giusto conoscono ciò che è grato, ma la bocca degli empi e piena di perversità.
