Proverbs 11

A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

خداوند از ترازوی نادرست نفرت دارد. امّا از وزنهٔ درست خشنود می‌گردد.

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

مردم متکبّر خیلی زود شرمنده خواهند شد، امّا مردم حکیم فروتن هستند.

The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

صداقت مردم درستکار آنها را هدایت می‌کند، ولی شخص خیانتکار به وسیلهٔ ناراستی خود هلاک می‌شود.

Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

ثروت در هنگام مرگ هیچ فایده‌ای برای تو ندارد، ولی درستکاری موجب رستگاری تو خواهد شد.

The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

درستکاری، زندگی شخص درستکار را آسانتر می‌سازد، امّا شخص شریر از شرارت خود هلاک می‌شود.

The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

درستکاری، مردم امین را نجات می‌دهد، ولی خیانتکار در طمع خود گرفتار می‌شود.

When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

وقتی‌که شخص شریر می‌میرد، امیدها و آرزوهایش هم با او می‌میرند. اعتماد به ثروت نتیجه‌ای نخواهد داشت.

The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

مردم درستکار از مشکلات آزاد می‌شوند و مردم شریر به جای آنها گرفتار می‌گردند.

An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

سخنان مردم بی‌خدا موجب هلاکت تو می‌گردد، ولی دانش مردم عاقل می‌تواند تو را نجات دهد.

When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

وقتی مردم درستکار موفّق می‌شوند، تمام مردم شهر شادمان می‌گردند و وقتی‌که شریران می‌میرند، مردم از خوشحالی فریاد می‌زنند.

By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

دعای خیر مردم درستکار، سبب رونق شهر می‌شود، ولی سخنان شریران موجب نابودی شهر می‌گردد.

He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

کوچک کردن دیگران، کار احمقانه‌ای است. کسی‌که داناست، ساکت می‌ماند.

A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

سخن‌چین نمی‌تواند رازی را پیش خود نگه دارد، ولی می‌توانی به کسی‌که امین است، اعتماد کنی.

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

ملّت بدون رهبر سقوط می‌کند، ولی زیادی مشاوران موجب امنیّت است.

He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

ضمانت وام شخص غریب پشیمانی می‌آورد. بهتر است خودت را در چنین کارهایی گرفتار نکنی.

A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

زن شریف محترم شمرده می‌شود، امّا زن بی‌عفّت باعث شرمساری است. مردمان تنبل هرگز پول نخواهند داشت، امّا مردمان پرتلاش ثروتمند خواهند شد.

The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

اگر مهربان باشی خود را عزیز می‌‌کنی و اگر ستمگر باشی به خودت صدمه می‌زنی.

The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

مردم شریر چیز با ارزشی به دست نمی‌آورند ولی اگر درستکار باشی حتماً پاداش آن را خواهی گرفت.

As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

کسی‌که تصمیم بگیرد درستکار باشد، رستگار خواهد شد، ولی کسی‌که از شرارت پیروی کند، نابود خواهد گردید.

They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

خداوند از اشخاص کجرو نفرت دارد، امّا نیکوکاران را دوست می‌دارد.

Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

مطمئن باش که مردم شریر مجازات می‌شوند، ولی درستکاران نجات خواهند یافت.

As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

زیبایی زن نادان، مثل حلقهٔ طلا در پوزهٔ خوک است.

The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

آرزوی مردم نیک همیشه خیر است، امّا نتیجهٔ آرزوی شریران خشم و غضب خداست.

There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

برخی از مردم، پول خود را سخاوتمندانه خرج می‌کنند ولی دارایی آنها بیشتر می‌شود. برخی خیلی خسیس هستند و هر روز فقیرتر می‌شوند.

The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

سخاوتمند باش تا کامیاب شوی. کسی‌که دیگران را سیراب می‌کند، خودش هم سیراب می‌شود.

He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

مردم کسی ‌را که غلّه خود را انبار می‌کند تا گرانتر بفروشد، لعنت می‌کنند. امّا برای کسی‌که آن را می‌فروشد، دعای خیر می‌کنند.

He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

اگر نیّت تو خیر است، مردم به تو احترام می‌گذارند. ولی اگر دنبال شر می‌گردی، خودت به آن دچار می‌شوی.

He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

کسانی‌که بر ثروت خود توکّل دارند، مانند برگهای پاییزی سقوط می‌کنند، امّا مردمان درستکار، مانند برگهای بهاری سبز و خرّم خواهند بود.

He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

کسی‌که اهل خانهٔ خود را ناراحت کند، عاقبت به جایی نمی‌رسد. مردم نادان همیشه غلام مردم حکیم خواهند بود.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

نیکویی حیات می‌بخشد، امّا شرارت آن را دور می‌کند.

Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

مردم نیک در این دنیا به نتیجهٔ کارهای خود خواهند رسید، پس اطمینان داشته باشید که مردم شریر و گناهکار مجازات خواهند شد.
