Proverbs 20

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

La vino estas blasfemanto, ebriiga trinkaĵo estas sovaĝa; Kaj kiu delogiĝas per ili, tiu ne estas prudenta.

The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

Minaco de reĝo estas kiel kriego de leono; Kiu lin kolerigas, tiu pekas kontraŭ sia animo.

It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

Estas honoro por homo ĉesigi malpacon; Sed ĉiu malsaĝulo estas malpacema.

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

En la malvarma tempo mallaborulo ne plugas; Li petos en aŭtuno, kaj li nenion ricevos.

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Intenco en la koro de homo estas profunda akvo; Sed homo saĝa ĝin elĉerpos.

Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

Multaj homoj proklamas pri sia boneco; Sed kiu trovos homon fidelan?

The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

Virtulo iras en sia senpekeco; Feliĉaj estas liaj infanoj post li.

A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

Reĝo, kiu sidas sur trono de juĝo, Disventumas per siaj okuloj ĉion malbonan.

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Kiu povas diri: Mi purigis mian koron, Mi estas libera de mia peko?

Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

Neegalaj peziloj, neegalaj mezuroj, Ambaŭ estas abomenaĵo por la Eternulo.

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

Eĉ knabon oni povas ekkoni laŭ liaj faroj, Ĉu estas pura kaj justa lia konduto.

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

Orelon aŭdantan kaj okulon vidantan: Ilin ambaŭ kreis la Eternulo.

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

Ne amu dormon, por ke vi ne malriĉiĝu; Malfermu viajn okulojn, kaj vi satiĝos de pano.

It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

Malbona, malbona, diras la aĉetanto; Sed kiam li foriris, tiam li fanfaronas.

There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

Oni povas havi oron kaj multe da perloj; Sed buŝo prudenta estas multevalora ilo.

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

Prenu la veston de tiu, kiu garantiis por aliulo; Kaj pro la fremduloj prenu de li garantiaĵon.

Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

Malhonesta pano estas bongusta por homo; Sed lia buŝo poste estos plena de ŝtonetoj.

Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

Intencoj fortikiĝas per konsilo; Kaj militon oni faru prudente.

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Kiu malkaŝas sekreton, tiu estas kiel kalumnianto; Ne komunikiĝu kun tiu, kiu havas larĝan buŝon.

Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

Heredo, al kiu oni komence tro rapidas, Ne estas benata en sia fino.

Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

Ne diru: Mi repagos malbonon; Fidu la Eternulon, kaj Li vin helpos.

Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

Neegalaj peziloj estas abomenaĵo por la Eternulo, Kaj malvera pesilo estas ne bona.

Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

La irado de homo dependas de la Eternulo; Kiel homo povus kompreni sian vojon?

It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.

Ĝi estas reto por homo, se li rapidas nomi ion sankta Kaj esploras nur post faro de promeso.

A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

Saĝa reĝo dispelas malvirtulojn, Kaj venigas radon sur ilin.

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

La animo de homo estas lumilo de la Eternulo; Ĝi esploras ĉiujn internaĵojn de la korpo.

Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.

Favorkoreco kaj veremeco hardas reĝon; Kaj per favorkoreco li subtenas sian tronon.

The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

Gloro por junuloj estas ilia forto, Kaj ornamo por maljunuloj estas grizeco.

The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

Vundoj de batoj devas penetri en malbonulon, Kaj frapoj devas iri profunde en lian korpon.
