Proverbs 10

The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

Mudar sin veseli oca, a lud je sin žalost majci svojoj.

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Ne koristi krivo stečeno blago, dok pravednost izbavlja od smrti.

The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

Ne dopušta Jahve da gladuje duša pravednika, ali odbija pohlepu opakih.

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

Lijena ruka osiromašuje čovjeka, a marljiva ga obogaćuje.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Tko sabira ljeti, razuman je sin, a tko hrče o žetvi, navlači sramotu.

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Blagoslovi su nad glavom pravedniku, a usta opakih kriju nasilje.

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Pravednikov je spomen blagoslovljen, a opakom se ime proklinje.

The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

Tko je mudra srca, prima zapovijedi, dok brbljava luda propada.

He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

Tko nedužno živi, hodi bez straha, a tko ide krivim putovima, poznat će se.

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

Tko žmirka okom, zadaje tugu, a tko ludo zbori, propada.

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Pravednikova su usta izvor života, a opakomu usta kriju nasilje.

Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Mržnja izaziva svađu, a ljubav pokriva sve pogreške.

In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

Na usnama razumnoga nalazi se mudrost, a batina je za leđa nerazumna čovjeka.

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

Mudri kriju znanje, a luđakova su usta blizu propasti.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

Blago je bogatomu tvrdi grad, a ubogima je propast njihovo siromaštvo.

The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

Pravednik prirađuje za život, a opaki prirađuje za grijeh.

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

Tko se naputka drži, na putu je života, a zabluđuje tko se na ukor ne osvrće.

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

Lažljive usne kriju mržnju, a tko klevetu širi, bezuman je!

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

Obilje riječi ne biva bez grijeha, a tko zauzdava svoj jezik, razuman je.

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

Pravednikov je jezik odabrano srebro, a razum opakoga malo vrijedi.

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Pravednikove su usne hrana mnogima, a luđaci umiru s ludosti svoje.

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Gospodnji blagoslov obogaćuje i ne prati ga nikakva muka.

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

Bezumniku je radost učiniti sramotno djelo, a razumnu čovjeku biti mudar.

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

Čega se opaki boji, ono će ga stići, a pravednička se želja ispunjava.

As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

Kad oluja prohuja, opakoga nestane, a pravednik ima temelj vječni.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

Kakav je ocat zubima i dim očima, takav je ljenivac onima koji ga šalju.

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Strah Gospodnji umnaža dane, a opakima se prekraćuju godine.

The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

Pravedničko je ufanje puno radosti, a opakima je nada uprazno.

The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

Gospodnji je put okrilje bezazlenu, a propast onima koji čine zlo.

The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

Pravednik se neće nikad pokolebati, a opakih će nestati s lica zemlje.

The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

Pravednikova usta rađaju mudrošću, a opak jezik čupa se s korijenom.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.

Pravednikove usne znaju što je milo, dok usta opakih poznaju zloću.
