Job 34

Furthermore Elihu answered and said,

پھر اِلیہو نے بات جاری رکھ کر کہا،

Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

”اے دانش مندو، میرے الفاظ سنیں! اے عالِمو، مجھ پر کان دھریں!

For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.

کیونکہ کان یوں الفاظ کی جانچ پڑتال کرتا ہے جس طرح زبان خوراک کو چکھ لیتی ہے۔

Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

آئیں، ہم اپنے لئے وہ کچھ چن لیں جو درست ہے، آپس میں جان لیں کہ کیا کچھ اچھا ہے۔

For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.

ایوب نے کہا ہے، ’گو مَیں بےگناہ ہوں توبھی اللہ نے مجھے میرے حقوق سے محروم کر رکھا ہے۔

Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.

جو فیصلہ میرے بارے میں کیا گیا ہے اُسے مَیں جھوٹ قرار دیتا ہوں۔ گو مَیں بےقصور ہوں توبھی تیر نے مجھے یوں زخمی کر دیا کہ اُس کا علاج ممکن ہی نہیں۔‘

What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?

اب مجھے بتائیں، کیا کوئی ایوب جیسا بُرا ہے؟ وہ تو کفر کی باتیں پانی کی طرح پیتے،

Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.

بدکاروں کی صحبت میں چلتے اور بےدینوں کے ساتھ اپنا وقت گزارتے ہیں۔

For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

کیونکہ وہ دعویٰ کرتے ہیں کہ اللہ سے لطف اندوز ہونا انسان کے لئے بےفائدہ ہے۔

Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

چنانچہ اے سمجھ دار مردو، میری بات سنیں! یہ کیسے ہو سکتا ہے کہ اللہ شریر کام کرے؟ یہ تو ممکن ہی نہیں کہ قادرِ مطلق ناانصافی کرے۔

For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

یقیناً وہ انسان کو اُس کے اعمال کا مناسب اجر دے کر اُس پر وہ کچھ لاتا ہے جس کا تقاضا اُس کا چال چلن کرتا ہے۔

Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

یقیناً اللہ بےدین حرکتیں نہیں کرتا، قادرِ مطلق انصاف کا خون نہیں کرتا۔

Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?

کس نے زمین کو اللہ کے حوالے کیا؟ کس نے اُسے پوری دنیا پر اختیار دیا؟ کوئی نہیں!

If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

اگر وہ کبھی ارادہ کرے کہ اپنی روح اور اپنا دم انسان سے واپس لے

All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

تو تمام لوگ دم چھوڑ کر دوبارہ خاک ہو جائیں گے۔

If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

اے ایوب، اگر آپ کو سمجھ ہے تو سنیں، میری باتوں پر دھیان دیں۔

Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?

جو انصاف سے نفرت کرے کیا وہ حکومت کر سکتا ہے؟ کیا آپ اُسے مجرم ٹھہرانا چاہتے ہیں جو راست باز اور قادرِ مطلق ہے،

Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?

جو بادشاہ سے کہہ سکتا ہے، ’اے بدمعاش!‘ اور شرفا سے، ’اے بےدینو!‘؟

How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

وہ تو نہ رئیسوں کی جانب داری کرتا، نہ عُہدے داروں کو پست حالوں پر ترجیح دیتا ہے، کیونکہ سب ہی کو اُس کے ہاتھوں نے بنایا ہے۔

In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.

وہ پل بھر میں، آدھی رات ہی مر جاتے ہیں۔ شرفا کو ہلایا جاتا ہے تو وہ کوچ کر جاتے ہیں، طاقت وروں کو بغیر کسی تگ و دَو کے ہٹایا جاتا ہے۔

For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.

کیونکہ اللہ کی آنکھیں انسان کی راہوں پر لگی رہتی ہیں، آدم زاد کا ہر قدم اُسے نظر آتا ہے۔

There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

کہیں اِتنی تاریکی یا گھنا اندھیرا نہیں ہوتا کہ بدکار اُس میں چھپ سکے۔

For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.

اور اللہ کسی بھی انسان کو اُس وقت سے آگاہ نہیں کرتا جب اُسے الٰہی تختِ عدالت کے سامنے آنا ہے۔

He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

اُسے تحقیقات کی ضرورت ہی نہیں بلکہ وہ زورآوروں کو پاش پاش کر کے دوسروں کو اُن کی جگہ کھڑا کر دیتا ہے۔

Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

وہ تو اُن کی حرکتوں سے واقف ہے اور اُنہیں رات کے وقت یوں تہہ و بالا کر سکتا ہے کہ چُور چُور ہو جائیں۔

He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

اُن کی بےدینی کے جواب میں وہ اُنہیں سب کی نظروں کے سامنے پٹخ دیتا ہے۔

Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:

اُس کی پیروی سے ہٹنے اور اُس کی راہوں کا لحاظ نہ کرنے کا یہی نتیجہ ہے۔

So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.

کیونکہ اُن کی حرکتوں کے باعث پست حالوں کی چیخیں اللہ کے سامنے اور مصیبت زدوں کی التجائیں اُس کے کان تک پہنچیں۔

When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

لیکن اگر وہ خاموش بھی رہے تو کون اُسے مجرم قرار دے سکتا ہے؟ اگر وہ اپنے چہرے کو چھپائے رکھے تو کون اُسے دیکھ سکتا ہے؟ وہ تو قوم پر بلکہ ہر فرد پر حکومت کرتا ہے

That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.

تاکہ شریر حکومت نہ کریں اور قوم پھنس نہ جائے۔

Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:

بہتر ہے کہ آپ اللہ سے کہیں، ’مجھے غلط راہ پر لایا گیا ہے، آئندہ مَیں دوبارہ بُرا کام نہیں کروں گا۔

That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

جو کچھ مجھے نظر نہیں آتا وہ مجھے سکھا، اگر مجھ سے ناانصافی ہوئی ہے تو آئندہ ایسا نہیں کروں گا۔‘

Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.

کیا اللہ کو آپ کو وہ اجر دینا چاہئے جو آپ کی نظر میں مناسب ہے، گو آپ نے اُسے رد کر دیا ہے؟ لازم ہے کہ آپ خود ہی فیصلہ کریں، نہ کہ مَیں۔ لیکن ذرا وہ کچھ پیش کریں جو کچھ آپ صحیح سمجھتے ہیں۔

Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.

سمجھ دار لوگ بلکہ ہر دانش مند جو میری بات سنے فرمائے گا،

Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

’ایوب علم کے ساتھ بات نہیں کر رہا، اُس کے الفاظ فہم سے خالی ہیں۔

My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.

کاش ایوب کی پوری جانچ پڑتال کی جائے، کیونکہ وہ شریروں کے سے جواب پیش کرتا،

For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.

وہ اپنے گناہ میں اضافہ کر کے ہمارے رُوبرُو اپنے جرم پر شک ڈالتا اور اللہ پر متعدد الزامات لگاتا ہے‘۔“
