Ephesians 5

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

چونکہ آپ اللہ کے پیارے بچے ہیں اِس لئے اُس کے نمونے پر چلیں۔

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

محبت کی روح میں زندگی یوں گزاریں جیسے مسیح نے گزاری۔ کیونکہ اُس نے ہم سے محبت رکھ کر اپنے آپ کو ہمارے لئے اللہ کے حضور قربان کر دیا اور یوں ایسی قربانی بن گیا جس کی خوشبو اللہ کو پسند آئی۔

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

آپ کے درمیان زناکاری، ہر طرح کی ناپاکی یا لالچ کا ذکر تک نہ ہو، کیونکہ یہ اللہ کے مُقدّسین کے لئے مناسب نہیں ہے۔

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

اِسی طرح شرم ناک، احمقانہ یا گندی باتیں بھی ٹھیک نہیں۔ اِن کی جگہ شکرگزاری ہونی چاہئے۔

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

کیونکہ یقین جانیں کہ زناکار، ناپاک یا لالچی مسیح اور اللہ کی بادشاہی میں میراث نہیں پائیں گے (لالچ تو ایک قسم کی بُت پرستی ہے)۔

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

کوئی آپ کو بےمعنی الفاظ سے دھوکا نہ دے۔ ایسی ہی باتوں کی وجہ سے اللہ کا غضب اُن پر جو نافرمان ہیں نازل ہوتا ہے۔

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

چنانچہ اُن میں شریک نہ ہو جائیں جو یہ کرتے ہیں۔

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

کیونکہ پہلے آپ تاریکی تھے، لیکن اب آپ خداوند میں روشنی ہیں۔ روشنی کے فرزند کی طرح زندگی گزاریں،

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

کیونکہ روشنی کا پھل ہر طرح کی بھلائی، راست بازی اور سچائی ہے۔

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

اور معلوم کرتے رہیں کہ خداوند کو کیا کچھ پسند ہے۔

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

تاریکی کے بےپھل کاموں میں حصہ نہ لیں بلکہ اُنہیں روشنی میں لائیں۔

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

کیونکہ جو کچھ یہ لوگ پوشیدگی میں کرتے ہیں اُس کا ذکر کرنا بھی شرم کی بات ہے۔

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

لیکن سب کچھ بےنقاب ہو جاتا ہے جب اُسے روشنی میں لایا جاتا ہے۔

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

کیونکہ جو روشنی میں لایا جاتا ہے وہ روشن ہو جاتا ہے۔ اِس لئے کہا جاتا ہے، ”اے سونے والے، جاگ اُٹھ! مُردوں میں سے جی اُٹھ، تو مسیح تجھ پر چمکے گا۔“

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

چنانچہ بڑی احتیاط سے اِس پر دھیان دیں کہ آپ زندگی کس طرح گزارتے ہیں — بےسمجھ یا سمجھ دار لوگوں کی طرح۔

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

ہر موقع سے پورا فائدہ اُٹھائیں، کیونکہ دن بُرے ہیں۔

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

اِس لئے احمق نہ بنیں بلکہ خداوند کی مرضی کو سمجھیں۔

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

شراب میں متوالے نہ ہو جائیں، کیونکہ اِس کا انجام عیاشی ہے۔ اِس کے بجائے روح القدس سے معمور ہوتے جائیں۔

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

زبوروں، حمد و ثنا اور روحانی گیتوں سے ایک دوسرے کی حوصلہ افزائی کریں۔ اپنے دلوں میں خداوند کے لئے گیت گائیں اور نغمہ سرائی کریں۔

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

ہاں، ہر وقت ہمارے خداوند عیسیٰ مسیح کے نام میں ہر چیز کے لئے شکر کریں۔

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

مسیح کے خوف میں ایک دوسرے کے تابع رہیں۔

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

بیویو، جس طرح آپ خداوند کے تابع ہیں اُسی طرح اپنے شوہر کے تابع بھی رہیں۔

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

کیونکہ شوہر ویسے ہی اپنی بیوی کا سر ہے جیسے مسیح اپنی جماعت کا۔ ہاں، جماعت مسیح کا بدن ہے جسے اُس نے نجات دی ہے۔

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

اب جس طرح جماعت مسیح کے تابع ہے اُسی طرح بیویاں بھی اپنے شوہروں کے تابع رہیں۔

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

شوہرو، اپنی بیویوں سے محبت رکھیں، بالکل اُسی طرح جس طرح مسیح نے اپنی جماعت سے محبت رکھ کر اپنے آپ کو اُس کے لئے قربان کیا

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

تاکہ اُسے اللہ کے لئے مخصوص و مُقدّس کرے۔ اُس نے اُسے کلامِ پاک سے دھو کر پاک صاف کر دیا

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

تاکہ اپنے آپ کو ایک ایسی جماعت پیش کرے جو جلالی، مُقدّس اور بےالزام ہو، جس میں نہ کوئی داغ ہو، نہ کوئی جھری، نہ کسی اَور قسم کا نقص۔

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

شوہروں کا فرض ہے کہ وہ اپنی بیویوں سے ایسی ہی محبت رکھیں۔ ہاں، وہ اُن سے ویسی محبت رکھیں جیسی اپنے جسم سے رکھتے ہیں۔ کیونکہ جو اپنی بیوی سے محبت رکھتا ہے وہ اپنے آپ سے ہی محبت رکھتا ہے۔

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

آخر کوئی بھی اپنے جسم سے نفرت نہیں کرتا بلکہ اُسے خوراک مہیا کرتا اور پالتا ہے۔ مسیح بھی اپنی جماعت کے لئے یہی کچھ کرتا ہے۔

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

کیونکہ ہم اُس کے بدن کے اعضا ہیں۔

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

کلامِ مُقدّس میں بھی لکھا ہے، ”اِس لئے مرد اپنے ماں باپ کو چھوڑ کر اپنی بیوی کے ساتھ پیوست ہو جاتا ہے۔ وہ دونوں ایک ہو جاتے ہیں۔“

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

یہ راز بہت گہرا ہے۔ مَیں تو اِس کا اطلاق مسیح اور اُس کی جماعت پر کرتا ہوں۔

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

لیکن اِس کا اطلاق آپ پر بھی ہے۔ ہر شوہر اپنی بیوی سے اِس طرح محبت رکھے جس طرح وہ اپنے آپ سے رکھتا ہے۔ اور ہر بیوی اپنے شوہر کی عزت کرے۔
