Job 29

Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

अपनी बात को जारी रखते हुये अय्यूब ने कहा:

Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;

“काश! मेरा जीवन वैसा ही होता जैसा गुजरे महीनों में था। जब परमेश्वर मेरी रखवाली करता था, और मेरा ध्यान रखता था।

When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;

मैं ऐसे उस समय की इच्छा करता हूँ जब परमेश्वर का प्रकाश मेरे शीश पर चमक रहा था। मुझ को प्रकाश दिखाने को उस समय जब मैं अन्धेरे से हो कर चला करता था।

As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

ऐसे उन दिनों की मैं इच्छा करता हूँ, जब मेरा जीवन सफल था और परमेश्वर मेरा निकट मित्र था। वे ऐसे दिन थे जब परमेश्वर ने मेरे घर को आशीष दी थी।

When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;

ऐसे समय की मैं इच्छा करता हूँ, जब सर्वशक्तिशाली परमेश्वर अभी तक मेरे साथ में था और मेरे पास मेरे बच्चे थे।

When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;

ऐसा तब था जब मेरा जीवन बहुत अच्छा था, ऐसा लगा करता था कि दूध—दही की नदियाँ बहा करती थी, और मेरे हेतू चट्टाने जैतून के तेल की नदियाँ उँडेल रही हैं।

When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!

“ये वे दिन थे जब मैं नगर—द्वार और खुले स्थानों में जाता था, और नगर नेताओं के साथ बैठता था।

The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.

वहाँ सभी लोग मेरा मान किया करते थे। युवा पुरुष जब मुझे देखते थे तो मेरी राह से हट जाया करते थे। और वृद्ध पुरुष मेरे प्रति सम्मान दर्शाने के लिये उठ खड़े होते थे।

The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

जब लोगों के मुखिया मुझे देख लेते थे, तो बोलना बन्द किया करते थे।

The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

यहाँ तक की अत्यन्त महत्वपूर्ण नेता भी अपना स्वर नीचा कर लेते थे, जब मैं उनके निकट जाया करता था। हाँ! ऐसा लगा करता था कि उनकी जिहवायें उनके तालू से चिपकी हों।

When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

जिस किसी ने भी मुझको बोलते सुना, मेरे विषय में अच्छी बात कही, जिस किसी ने भी मुझको देखा था, मेरी प्रशंसा की थी।

Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

क्यों? क्योंकि जब किसी दीन ने सहायता के लिये पुकारा, मैंने सहायता की। उस बच्चे को मैंने सहारा दिया जिसके माँ बाप नहीं और जिसका कोई भी नहीं ध्यान रखने को।

The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

मुझको मरते हुये व्यक्ति की आशीष मिली, मैंने उन विधवाओं को जो जरुरत में थी, मैंने सहारा दिया और उनको खुश किया।

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

मेरा वस्त्र खरा जीवन था, निष्पक्षता मेरे चोगे और मेरी पगड़ी सी थी।

I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.

मैं अंधो के लिये आँखे बन गया और मैं उनके पैर बना जिनके पैर नहीं थे।

I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.

दीन लोगों के लिये मैं पिता के तुल्य था, मैं पक्ष लिया करता था ऐसे अनजानों का जो विपत्ति में पड़े थे।

And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

मैं दुष्ट लोगों की शक्ति नष्ट करता था। निर्दोष लोगों को मैं दुष्टों से छुड़ाता था।

Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.

“मैं सोचा करता था कि सदा जीऊँगा ओर बहुत दिनों बाद फिर अपने ही घर में प्राण त्यागूँगा।

My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.

मैं एक ऐसा स्वस्थ वृक्ष बनूँगा जिसकी जड़े सदा जल में रहती हों और जिसकी शाखायें सदा ओस से भीगी रहती हों।

My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

मेरी शान सदा ही नई बनी रहेगी, मैं सदा वैसा ही बलवान रहूँगा जैसे, मेरे हाथ में एक नया धनुष।

Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.

“पहले, लोग मेरी बात सुना करते थे, और वे जब मेरी सम्मत्ति की प्रतीक्षा किया करते थे, तो चुप रहा करते थे।

After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

मेरे बोल चुकने के बाद, उन लोगों के पास जो मेरी बात सुनते थे, कुछ भी बोलने को नहीं होता था। मेरे शब्द धीरे—धीरे उनके कानों में वर्षा की तरह पड़ा करते थे।

And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

लोग जैसे वर्षा की बाट जोहते हैं वैसे ही वे मेरे बोलने की बाट जोहा करते थे। मेरे शब्दों को वे पी जाया करते थे, जैसे मेरे शब्द बसन्त में वर्षा हों।

If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.

जब मैं दया करने को उन पर मुस्कराता था, तो उन्हें इसका यकीन नहीं होता था। फिर मेरा प्रसन्न मुख दु:खी जन को सुख देता था।

I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.

मैंने उत्तरदायित्व लिया और लोगों के लिये निर्णय किये, मैं नेता बन गया। मैंने उनकी सेना के दलों के बीच राजा जैसा जीवन जिया। मैं ऐसा व्यक्ति था जो उन लोगों को चैन देता था जो बहुत ही दु:खी है।
