Proverbs 12

जो शिक्षा और अनुशासन से प्रेम करता है, वह तो ज्ञान से प्रेम यूँ ही करता है। किन्तु जो सुधार से घृणा करता है, वह तो निरा मूर्ख है।

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

सज्जन मनुष्य यहोवा की कृपा पाता है, किन्तु छल छंदी को यहोवा दण्ड देता है।

A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

दुष्टता, किसी जन को स्थिर नहीं कर सकती किन्तु धर्मी जन कभी उखाड़ नहींपाता है।

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

एक उत्तम पत्नी के साथ पति खुश और गर्वीला होता है। किन्तु वह पत्नी जो अपने पति को लजाती है वह उसको शरीर की बीमारी जैसे होती है।

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

धर्मी की योजनाएँ न्याय संगत होती हैं जबकि दुष्ट की सलाह कपटपूर्ण रहती है।

The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

दुष्ट के शब्द घात में झपटने को रहते हैं। किन्तु सज्जन की वाणी उनको बचाती है।

The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

जो खोटे होते हैं उखाड़ फेंके जाते हैं, किन्तु खरे जन का घराना टिका रहता है।

The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

व्यक्ति अपनी भली समझ के अनुसार प्रशंसा पाता है, किन्तु ऐसे जन जिनके मन कुपथ गामी हों घृणा के पात्र होते हैं।

A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

सामान्य जन बनकर परिश्रम करना उत्तम है इसके बजाए कि भूखे रहकर महत्वपूर्ण जन सा स्वांग भरना।

He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

धर्मी अपने पशु तक की जरूरतों का ध्यान रखता है, किन्तु दुष्ट के सर्वाधिक दया भरे काम भी कठोर क्रूर रहते हैं।

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

जो अपने खेत में काम करता है उसके पास खाने की बहुतायत होंगी; किन्तु पीछे भागता रहता जो ना समझ के उसके पास विवेक का अभाव रहता है।

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

दुष्ट जन पापियों की लूट को चाहते हैं, किन्तु धर्मी जन की जड़ हरी रहती है।

The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

पापी मनुष्य को पाप उसका अपना ही शब्द—जाल में फँसा लेता है। किन्तु खरा व्यक्ति विपत्ति से बच निकलता।

The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

अपनी वाणी के सुफल से व्यक्ति श्रेष्ठ वस्तुओं से भर जाता है। निश्चय यह उतना ही जितना अपने हाथों का काम करके उसको सफलता देता है।

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

मूर्ख को अपना मार्ग ठीक जान पड़ता है, किन्तु बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति सन्मति सुनता है।

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

मूर्ख जन अपनी झुंझलाहट झटपट दिखाता है, किन्तु बुद्धिमान अपमान की उपेक्षा करता है।

A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

सत्यपूर्ण साक्षी खरी गवाही देता है, किन्तु झूठा साक्षी झूठी बातें बनाता है।

He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

अविचारित वाणी तलवार सी छेदती, किन्तु विवेकी की वाणी घावों को भरती है।

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

सत्यपूर्ण वाणी सदा सदा टिकी रहती है, किन्तु झूठी जीभ बस क्षण भर को टिकती है।

The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

उनके मनों में छल—कपट भरा रहता है, जो कुचक्र भरी योजना रचा करते हैं। किन्तु जो शान्ति को बढ़ावा देते हैं, आनन्द पाते हैं।

Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

धर्मी जन पर कभी विपत्ति नहीं गिरेगी, किन्तु दुष्टों को तो विपत्तियाँ घेरेंगी।

There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

ऐसे होठों से यहोवा घृणा करता है जो झूठ बोलते हैं, किन्तु उन लोगों से जो सत्य से पूर्ण हैं, वह प्रसन्न रहता है।

Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

ज्ञानी अधिक बोलता नहीं है, चुप रहता है किन्तु मूर्ख अधिक बोल बोलकर अपने अज्ञान को दर्शाता है।

A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

परिश्रमी हाथ तो शासन करेंगे, किन्तु आलस्य का परिणाम बेगार होगा।

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

चिंतापूर्ण मन व्यक्ति को दबोच लेता है; किन्तु भले वचन उसे हर्ष से भर देते हैं।

Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

धर्मी मनुष्य मित्रता में सतर्क रहता है, किन्तु दुष्टों की चाल उन्हीं को भटकाती है।

The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

आलसी मनुष्य निज शिकार ढूँढ नहीं पाता किन्तु परिश्रमी जो कुछ उसके पास है, उसे आदर देता है।

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

नेकी के मार्ग में जीवन रहता है, और उस राह के किनारे अमरता बसती है।

In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
