Ephesians 5

Budite dakle nasljedovatelji Božji kao djeca ljubljena

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

i hodite u ljubavi kao što je i Krist ljubio vas i sebe predao za nas kao prinos i žrtvu Bogu na ugodan miris.

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

A bludnost i svaka nečistoća ili pohlepa neka se i ne spominje među vama, kako dolikuje svetima!

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Ni prostota, ni ludorija, ni dvosmislica, što se ne priliči, nego radije zahvaljivanje!

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Jer dobro znajte ovo: nijedan bludnik, ili bestidnik, ili pohlepnik - taj idolopoklonik - nema baštine u kraljevstvu Kristovu i Božjemu.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Nitko neka vas ispraznim riječima ne zavarava: zbog toga dolazi gnjev Božji na sinove neposlušne.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Nemajte dakle ništa s njima!

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

Da, nekoć bijaste tama, a sada ste svjetlost u Gospodinu: kao djeca svjetlosti hodite -

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

plod je svjetlosti svaka dobrota, pravednost i istina -

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

i odlučite se za ono što je milo Gospodinu.

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

A nemajte udjela u jalovim djelima tame, nego ih dapače raskrinkavajte,

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

jer što potajno čine, sramota je i govoriti.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

A sve što se raskrinka, pod svjetlošću postaje sjajno; što je pak sjajno, svjetlost je.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Zato veli: "Probudi se, ti što spavaš, ustani od mrtvih i zasvijetljet će ti Krist."

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Razmotrite dakle pomno kako živite! Ne kao ludi, nego kao mudri!

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Iskupljujte vrijeme jer dani su zli!

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Zato ne budite nerazumni, nego shvatite što je volja Gospodnja!

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

I ne opijajte se vinom u kojem je razuzdanost, nego - punite se Duhom!

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Razgovarajte među sobom psalmima, hvalospjevima i duhovnim pjesmama! Pjevajte i slavite Gospodina u svom srcu!

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Svagda i za sve zahvaljujte Bogu i Ocu u imenu Gospodina našega Isusa Krista!

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Podložni budite jedni drugima u strahu Kristovu!

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Žene svojim muževima kao Gospodinu!

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Jer muž je glava žene kao i Krist Glava Crkve - On, Spasitelj Tijela.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Pa kao što se Crkva podlaže Kristu, tako i žene muževima u svemu!

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Muževi, ljubite svoje žene kao što je Krist ljubio Crkvu te sebe predao za nju

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

da je posveti, očistivši je kupelji vode uz riječ

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

te sebi predvede Crkvu slavnu, bez ljage i nabora ili čega takva, nego da bude sveta i bez mane.

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Tako treba da i muževi ljube svoje žene kao svoja tijela. Tko ljubi svoju ženu, sebe ljubi.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Ta nitko nikada ne mrzi svoga tijela, nego ga hrani i njeguje kao i Krist Crkvu.

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

Doista, mi smo udovi njegova Tijela!

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

Stoga će čovjek ostaviti oca i majku da prione uza svoju ženu; dvoje njih bit će jedno tijelo.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Otajstvo je to veliko! Ja smjeram na Krista i na Crkvu.

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Dakle, neka svaki od vas ljubi svoju ženu kao samog sebe, a žena neka poštuje svog muža.

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
