Job 29

ایوب نے اپنی بات جاری رکھ کر کہا،

Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

”کاش مَیں دوبارہ ماضی کے وہ دن گزار سکوں جب اللہ میری دیکھ بھال کرتا تھا،

Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;

جب اُس کی شمع میرے سر کے اوپر چمکتی رہی اور مَیں اُس کی روشنی کی مدد سے اندھیرے میں چلتا تھا۔

When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;

اُس وقت میری جوانی عروج پر تھی اور میرا خیمہ اللہ کے سائے میں رہتا تھا۔

As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

قادرِ مطلق میرے ساتھ تھا، اور مَیں اپنے بیٹوں سے گھرا رہتا تھا۔

When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;

کثرت کے باعث میرے قدم دہی سے دھوئے رہتے اور چٹان سے تیل کی ندیاں پھوٹ کر نکلتی تھیں۔

When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;

جب کبھی مَیں شہر کے دروازے سے نکل کر چوک میں اپنی کرسی پر بیٹھ جاتا

When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!

تو جوان آدمی مجھے دیکھ کر پیچھے ہٹ کر چھپ جاتے، بزرگ اُٹھ کر کھڑے رہتے،

The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.

رئیس بولنے سے باز آ کر منہ پر ہاتھ رکھتے،

The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

شرفا کی آواز دب جاتی اور اُن کی زبان تالو سے چپک جاتی تھی۔

The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

جس کان نے میری باتیں سنیں اُس نے مجھے مبارک کہا، جس آنکھ نے مجھے دیکھا اُس نے میرے حق میں گواہی دی۔

When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

کیونکہ جو مصیبت میں آ کر آواز دیتا اُسے مَیں بچاتا، بےسہارا یتیم کو چھٹکارا دیتا تھا۔

Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

تباہ ہونے والے مجھے برکت دیتے تھے۔ میرے باعث بیواؤں کے دلوں سے خوشی کے نعرے اُبھر آتے تھے۔

The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

مَیں راست بازی سے ملبّس اور راست بازی مجھ سے ملبّس رہتی تھی، انصاف میرا چوغہ اور پگڑی تھا۔

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

اندھوں کے لئے مَیں آنکھیں، لنگڑوں کے لئے پاؤں بنا رہتا تھا۔

I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.

مَیں غریبوں کا باپ تھا، اور جب کبھی اجنبی کو مقدمہ لڑنا پڑا تو مَیں غور سے اُس کے معاملے کا معائنہ کرتا تھا تاکہ اُس کا حق مارا نہ جائے۔

I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.

مَیں نے بےدین کا جبڑا توڑ کر اُس کے دانتوں میں سے شکار چھڑایا۔

And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

اُس وقت میرا خیال تھا، ’مَیں اپنے ہی گھر میں وفات پاؤں گا، سیمرغ کی طرح اپنی زندگی کے دنوں میں اضافہ کروں گا۔

Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.

میری جڑیں پانی تک پھیلی اور میری شاخیں اوس سے تر رہیں گی۔

My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.

میری عزت ہر وقت تازہ رہے گی، اور میرے ہاتھ کی کمان کو نئی تقویت ملتی رہے گی۔‘

My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

لوگ میری سن کر خاموشی سے میرے مشوروں کے انتظار میں رہتے تھے۔

Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.

میرے بات کرنے پر وہ جواب میں کچھ نہ کہتے بلکہ میرے الفاظ ہلکی سی بوندا باندی کی طرح اُن پر ٹپکتے رہتے۔

After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

جس طرح انسان شدت سے بارش کے انتظار میں رہتا ہے اُسی طرح وہ میرے انتظار میں رہتے تھے۔ وہ منہ پسار کر بہار کی بارش کی طرح میرے الفاظ کو جذب کر لیتے تھے۔

And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

جب مَیں اُن سے بات کرتے وقت مسکراتا تو اُنہیں یقین نہیں آتا تھا، میری اُن پر مہربانی اُن کے نزدیک نہایت قیمتی تھی۔

If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.

مَیں اُن کی راہ اُن کے لئے چن کر اُن کی قیادت کرتا، اُن کے درمیان یوں بستا تھا جس طرح بادشاہ اپنے دستوں کے درمیان۔ مَیں اُس کی مانند تھا جو ماتم کرنے والوں کو تسلی دیتا ہے۔

I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
