Matthew 27

When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
صبح سویرے تمام راہنما امام اور قوم کے تمام بزرگ اِس فیصلے تک پہنچ گئے کہ عیسیٰ کو سزائے موت دی جائے۔
And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
وہ اُسے باندھ کر وہاں سے لے گئے اور رومی گورنر پیلاطس کے حوالے کر دیا۔
Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
جب یہوداہ نے جس نے اُسے دشمن کے حوالے کر دیا تھا دیکھا کہ اُس پر سزائے موت کا فتویٰ دے دیا گیا ہے تو اُس نے پچھتا کر چاندی کے 30 سِکے راہنما اماموں اور قوم کے بزرگوں کو واپس کر دیئے۔
Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
اُس نے کہا، ”مَیں نے گناہ کیا ہے، کیونکہ ایک بےقصور آدمی کو سزائے موت دی گئی ہے اور مَیں ہی نے اُسے آپ کے حوالے کیا ہے۔“ اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”ہمیں کیا! یہ تیرا مسئلہ ہے۔“
And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
یہوداہ چاندی کے سِکے بیت المُقدّس میں پھینک کر چلا گیا۔ پھر اُس نے جا کر پھانسی لے لی۔
And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
راہنما اماموں نے سِکوں کو جمع کر کے کہا، ”شریعت یہ پیسے بیت المُقدّس کے خزانے میں ڈالنے کی اجازت نہیں دیتی، کیونکہ یہ خوں ریزی کا معاوضہ ہے۔“
And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
آپس میں مشورہ کرنے کے بعد اُنہوں نے کمہار کا کھیت خریدنے کا فیصلہ کیا تاکہ پردیسیوں کو دفنانے کے لئے جگہ ہو۔
Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
اِس لئے یہ کھیت آج تک خون کا کھیت کہلاتا ہے۔
Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
یوں یرمیاہ نبی کی یہ پیش گوئی پوری ہوئی کہ ”اُنہوں نے چاندی کے 30 سِکے لئے یعنی وہ رقم جو اسرائیلیوں نے اُس کے لئے لگائی تھی۔
And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.
اِن سے اُنہوں نے کمہار کا کھیت خرید لیا، بالکل ایسا جس طرح رب نے مجھے حکم دیا تھا۔“
And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
اِتنے میں عیسیٰ کو رومی گورنر پیلاطس کے سامنے پیش کیا گیا۔ اُس نے اُس سے پوچھا، ”کیا تم یہودیوں کے بادشاہ ہو؟“ عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”جی، آپ خود کہتے ہیں۔“
And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
لیکن جب راہنما اماموں اور قوم کے بزرگوں نے اُس پر الزام لگائے تو عیسیٰ خاموش رہا۔
Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
چنانچہ پیلاطس نے دوبارہ اُس سے سوال کیا، ”کیا تم یہ تمام الزامات نہیں سن رہے جو تم پر لگائے جا رہے ہیں؟“
And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
لیکن عیسیٰ نے ایک الزام کا بھی جواب نہ دیا، اِس لئے گورنر نہایت حیران ہوا۔
Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
اُن دنوں یہ رواج تھا کہ گورنر ہر سال فسح کی عید پر ایک قیدی کو آزاد کر دیتا تھا۔ یہ قیدی ہجوم سے منتخب کیا جاتا تھا۔
And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
اُس وقت جیل میں ایک بدنام قیدی تھا۔ اُس کا نام برابا تھا۔
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
چنانچہ جب ہجوم جمع ہوا تو پیلاطس نے اُس سے پوچھا، ”تم کیا چاہتے ہو؟ مَیں برابا کو آزاد کروں یا عیسیٰ کو جو مسیح کہلاتا ہے؟“
For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
وہ تو جانتا تھا کہ اُنہوں نے عیسیٰ کو صرف حسد کی بنا پر اُس کے حوالے کیا ہے۔
When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
جب پیلاطس یوں عدالت کے تخت پر بیٹھا تھا تو اُس کی بیوی نے اُسے پیغام بھیجا، ”اِس بےقصور آدمی کو ہاتھ نہ لگائیں، کیونکہ مجھے پچھلی رات اِس کے باعث خواب میں شدید تکلیف ہوئی۔“
But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
لیکن راہنما اماموں اور قوم کے بزرگوں نے ہجوم کو اُکسایا کہ وہ برابا کو مانگیں اور عیسیٰ کی موت طلب کریں۔ گورنر نے دوبارہ پوچھا،
The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
”مَیں اِن دونوں میں سے کس کو تمہارے لئے آزاد کروں؟“ وہ چلّائے، ”برابا کو۔“
Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
پیلاطس نے پوچھا، ”پھر مَیں عیسیٰ کے ساتھ کیا کروں جو مسیح کہلاتا ہے؟“ وہ چیخے، ”اُسے مصلوب کریں۔“
And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
پیلاطس نے پوچھا، ”کیوں؟ اُس نے کیا جرم کیا ہے؟“ لیکن لوگ مزید شور مچا کر چیختے رہے، ”اُسے مصلوب کریں!“
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
پیلاطس نے دیکھا کہ وہ کسی نتیجے تک نہیں پہنچ رہا بلکہ ہنگامہ برپا ہو رہا ہے۔ اِس لئے اُس نے پانی لے کر ہجوم کے سامنے اپنے ہاتھ دھوئے۔ اُس نے کہا، ”اگر اِس آدمی کو قتل کیا جائے تو مَیں بےقصور ہوں، تم ہی اُس کے لئے جواب دہ ٹھہرو۔“
Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
تمام لوگوں نے جواب دیا، ”ہم اور ہماری اولاد اُس کے خون کے جواب دہ ہیں۔“
Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
پھر اُس نے برابا کو آزاد کر کے اُنہیں دے دیا۔ لیکن عیسیٰ کو اُس نے کوڑے لگانے کا حکم دیا، پھر اُسے مصلوب کرنے کے لئے فوجیوں کے حوالے کر دیا۔
Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
گورنر کے فوجی عیسیٰ کو محل بنام پریٹوریُم کے صحن میں لے گئے اور پوری پلٹن کو اُس کے ارد گرد اکٹھا کیا۔
And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
اُس کے کپڑے اُتار کر اُنہوں نے اُسے ارغوانی رنگ کا لباس پہنایا،
And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
پھر کانٹےدار ٹہنیوں کا ایک تاج بنا کر اُس کے سر پر رکھ دیا۔ اُس کے دہنے ہاتھ میں چھڑی پکڑا کر اُنہوں نے اُس کے سامنے گھٹنے ٹیک کر اُس کا مذاق اُڑایا، ”اے یہودیوں کے بادشاہ، آداب!“
And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
وہ اُس پر تھوکتے رہے، چھڑی لے کر بار بار اُس کے سر کو مارا۔
And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
پھر اُس کا مذاق اُڑانے سے تھک کر اُنہوں نے ارغوانی لباس اُتار کر اُسے دوبارہ اُس کے اپنے کپڑے پہنائے اور اُسے مصلوب کرنے کے لئے لے گئے۔
And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
شہر سے نکلتے وقت اُنہوں نے ایک آدمی کو دیکھا جو لبیا کے شہر کرین کا رہنے والا تھا۔ اُس کا نام شمعون تھا۔ اُسے اُنہوں نے صلیب اُٹھا کر لے جانے پر مجبور کیا۔
And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
یوں چلتے چلتے وہ ایک مقام تک پہنچ گئے جس کا نام گلگتا (یعنی کھوپڑی کا مقام) تھا۔
They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
وہاں اُنہوں نے اُسے مَے پیش کی جس میں کوئی کڑوی چیز ملائی گئی تھی۔ لیکن چکھ کر عیسیٰ نے اُسے پینے سے انکار کر دیا۔
And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
پھر فوجیوں نے اُسے مصلوب کیا اور اُس کے کپڑے آپس میں بانٹ لئے۔ یہ فیصلہ کرنے کے لئے کہ کس کو کیا کیا ملے اُنہوں نے قرعہ ڈالا۔
And sitting down they watched him there;
یوں وہ وہاں بیٹھ کر اُس کی پہرہ داری کرتے رہے۔
And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
صلیب پر عیسیٰ کے سر کے اوپر ایک تختی لگا دی گئی جس پر یہ الزام لکھا تھا، ”یہ یہودیوں کا بادشاہ عیسیٰ ہے۔“
Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
دو ڈاکوؤں کو بھی عیسیٰ کے ساتھ مصلوب کیا گیا، ایک کو اُس کے دہنے ہاتھ اور دوسرے کو اُس کے بائیں ہاتھ۔
And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
جو وہاں سے گزرے اُنہوں نے کفر بک کر اُس کی تذلیل کی اور سر ہلا ہلا کر اپنی حقارت کا اظہار کیا۔
And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
اُنہوں نے کہا، ”تُو نے تو کہا تھا کہ مَیں بیت المُقدّس کو ڈھا کر اُسے تین دن کے اندر اندر دوبارہ تعمیر کر دوں گا۔ اب اپنے آپ کو بچا! اگر تُو واقعی اللہ کا فرزند ہے تو صلیب پر سے اُتر آ۔“
Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
راہنما اماموں، شریعت کے علما اور قوم کے بزرگوں نے بھی عیسیٰ کا مذاق اُڑایا،
He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
”اِس نے اَوروں کو بچایا، لیکن اپنے آپ کو نہیں بچا سکتا۔ یہ اسرائیل کا بادشاہ ہے! ابھی یہ صلیب پر سے اُتر آئے تو ہم اِس پر ایمان لے آئیں گے۔
He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
اِس نے اللہ پر بھروسا رکھا ہے۔ اب اللہ اِسے بچائے اگر وہ اِسے چاہتا ہے، کیونکہ اِس نے کہا، ’مَیں اللہ کا فرزند ہوں‘۔“
The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
اور جن ڈاکوؤں کو اُس کے ساتھ مصلوب کیا گیا تھا اُنہوں نے بھی اُسے لعن طعن کی۔
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
دوپہر بارہ بجے پورا ملک اندھیرے میں ڈوب گیا۔ یہ تاریکی تین گھنٹوں تک رہی۔
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
پھر تین بجے عیسیٰ اونچی آواز سے پکار اُٹھا، ”ایلی، ایلی، لما شبقتنی“ جس کا مطلب ہے، ”اے میرے خدا، اے میرے خدا، تُو نے مجھے کیوں ترک کر دیا ہے؟“
Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
یہ سن کر پاس کھڑے کچھ لوگ کہنے لگے، ”وہ الیاس نبی کو بُلا رہا ہے۔“
And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
اُن میں سے ایک نے فوراً دوڑ کر ایک اسفنج کو مَے کے سرکے میں ڈبویا اور اُسے ڈنڈے پر لگا کر عیسیٰ کو چُسانے کی کوشش کی۔
The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
دوسروں نے کہا، ”آؤ، ہم دیکھیں، شاید الیاس آ کر اُسے بچائے۔“
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
لیکن عیسیٰ نے دوبارہ بڑے زور سے چلّا کر دم چھوڑ دیا۔
And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
اُسی وقت بیت المُقدّس کے مُقدّس ترین کمرے کے سامنے لٹکا ہوا پردہ اوپر سے لے کر نیچے تک دو حصوں میں پھٹ گیا۔ زلزلہ آیا، چٹانیں پھٹ گئیں
And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
اور قبریں کھل گئیں۔ کئی مرحوم مُقدّسین کے جسموں کو زندہ کر دیا گیا۔
And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
وہ عیسیٰ کے جی اُٹھنے کے بعد قبروں میں سے نکل کر مُقدّس شہر میں داخل ہوئے اور بہتوں کو نظر آئے۔
Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
جب پاس کھڑے رومی افسر اور عیسیٰ کی پہرہ داری کرنے والے فوجیوں نے زلزلہ اور یہ تمام واقعات دیکھے تو وہ نہایت دہشت زدہ ہو گئے۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”یہ واقعی اللہ کا فرزند تھا۔“
And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
بہت سی خواتین بھی وہاں تھیں جو کچھ فاصلے پر اِس کا مشاہدہ کر رہی تھیں۔ وہ گلیل میں عیسیٰ کے پیچھے چل کر یہاں تک اُس کی خدمت کرتی آئی تھیں۔
Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
اُن میں مریم مگدلینی، یعقوب اور یوسف کی ماں مریم اور زبدی کے بیٹوں یعقوب اور یوحنا کی ماں بھی تھیں۔
When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathæa, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
جب شام ہونے کو تھی تو ارمتیہ کا ایک دولت مند آدمی بنام یوسف آیا۔ وہ بھی عیسیٰ کا شاگرد تھا۔
He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
اُس نے پیلاطس کے پاس جا کر عیسیٰ کی لاش مانگی، اور پیلاطس نے حکم دیا کہ وہ اُسے دے دی جائے۔
And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
یوسف نے لاش کو لے کر اُسے کتان کے ایک صاف کفن میں لپیٹا
And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
اور اپنی ذاتی غیراستعمال شدہ قبر میں رکھ دیا جو چٹان میں تراشی گئی تھی۔ آخر میں اُس نے ایک بڑا پتھر لُڑھکا کر قبر کا منہ بند کر دیا اور چلا گیا۔
And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
اُس وقت مریم مگدلینی اور دوسری مریم قبر کے مقابل بیٹھی تھیں۔
Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
اگلے دن، جو سبت کا دن تھا، راہنما امام اور فریسی پیلاطس کے پاس آئے۔
Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
”جناب،“ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”ہمیں یاد آیا کہ جب وہ دھوکے باز ابھی زندہ تھا تو اُس نے کہا تھا، ’تین دن کے بعد مَیں جی اُٹھوں گا۔‘
Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
اِس لئے حکم دیں کہ قبر کو تیسرے دن تک محفوظ رکھا جائے۔ ایسا نہ ہو کہ اُس کے شاگرد آ کر اُس کی لاش کو چُرا لے جائیں اور لوگوں کو بتائیں کہ وہ مُردوں میں سے جی اُٹھا ہے۔ اگر ایسا ہوا تو یہ آخری دھوکا پہلے دھوکے سے بھی زیادہ بڑا ہو گا۔“
Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
پیلاطس نے جواب دیا، ”پہرے داروں کو لے کر قبر کو اِتنا محفوظ کر دو جتنا تم کر سکتے ہو۔“
So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
چنانچہ اُنہوں نے جا کر قبر کو محفوظ کر لیا۔ قبر کے منہ پر پڑے پتھر پر مُہر لگا کر اُنہوں نے اُس پر پہرے دار مقرر کر دیئے۔
