Matthew 13

The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

اُسی دن عیسیٰ گھر سے نکل کر جھیل کے کنارے بیٹھ گیا۔

And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

اِتنا بڑا ہجوم اُس کے گرد جمع ہو گیا کہ آخرکار وہ ایک کشتی میں بیٹھ گیا جبکہ لوگ کنارے پر کھڑے رہے۔

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

پھر اُس نے اُنہیں بہت سی باتیں تمثیلوں میں سنائیں۔ ”ایک کسان بیج بونے کے لئے نکلا۔

And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

جب بیج اِدھر اُدھر بکھر گیا تو کچھ دانے راستے پر گرے اور پرندوں نے آ کر اُنہیں چگ لیا۔

Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

کچھ پتھریلی زمین پر گرے جہاں مٹی کی کمی تھی۔ وہ جلد اُگ آئے کیونکہ مٹی گہری نہیں تھی۔

And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

لیکن جب سورج نکلا تو پودے جُھلس گئے اور چونکہ وہ جڑ نہ پکڑ سکے اِس لئے سوکھ گئے۔

And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

کچھ خود رَو کانٹےدار پودوں کے درمیان بھی گرے۔ وہاں وہ اُگنے تو لگے، لیکن خود رَو پودوں نے ساتھ ساتھ بڑھ کر اُنہیں پھلنے پھولنے نہ دیا۔ چنانچہ وہ بھی ختم ہو گئے۔

But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

لیکن ایسے دانے بھی تھے جو زرخیز زمین میں گرے اور بڑھتے بڑھتے تیس گُنا، ساٹھ گُنا بلکہ سَو گُنا تک زیادہ پھل لائے۔

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

جو سن سکتا ہے وہ سن لے!“

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

شاگرد اُس کے پاس آ کر پوچھنے لگے، ”آپ لوگوں سے تمثیلوں میں بات کیوں کرتے ہیں؟“

He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

اُس نے جواب دیا، ”تم کو تو آسمان کی بادشاہی کے بھید سمجھنے کی لیاقت دی گئی ہے، لیکن اُنہیں یہ لیاقت نہیں دی گئی۔

For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

جس کے پاس کچھ ہے اُسے اَور دیا جائے گا اور اُس کے پاس کثرت کی چیزیں ہوں گی۔ لیکن جس کے پاس کچھ نہیں ہے اُس سے وہ بھی چھین لیا جائے گا جو اُس کے پاس ہے۔

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

اِس لئے مَیں تمثیلوں میں اُن سے بات کرتا ہوں۔ کیونکہ وہ دیکھتے ہوئے کچھ نہیں دیکھتے، وہ سنتے ہوئے کچھ نہیں سنتے اور کچھ نہیں سمجھتے۔

And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

اُن میں یسعیاہ نبی کی یہ پیش گوئی پوری ہو رہی ہے: ’تم اپنے کانوں سے سنو گے مگر کچھ نہیں سمجھو گے، تم اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھو گے مگر کچھ نہیں جانو گے۔

For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

کیونکہ اِس قوم کا دل بےحس ہو گیا ہے۔ وہ مشکل سے اپنے کانوں سے سنتے ہیں، اُنہوں نے اپنی آنکھوں کو بند کر رکھا ہے، ایسا نہ ہو کہ وہ اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھیں، اپنے کانوں سے سنیں، اپنے دل سے سمجھیں، میری طرف رجوع کریں اور مَیں اُنہیں شفا دوں۔‘

But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

لیکن تمہاری آنکھیں مبارک ہیں کیونکہ وہ دیکھ سکتی ہیں اور تمہارے کان مبارک ہیں کیونکہ وہ سن سکتے ہیں۔

For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ جو کچھ تم دیکھ رہے ہو بہت سے نبی اور راست باز اِسے دیکھ نہ پائے اگرچہ وہ اِس کے آرزومند تھے۔ اور جو کچھ تم سن رہے ہو اِسے وہ سننے نہ پائے، اگرچہ وہ اِس کے خواہش مند تھے۔

Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

اب سنو کہ بیج بونے والے کی تمثیل کا مطلب کیا ہے۔

When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

راستے پر گرے ہوئے دانے وہ لوگ ہیں جو بادشاہی کا کلام سنتے تو ہیں، لیکن اُسے سمجھتے نہیں۔ پھر ابلیس آ کر وہ کلام چھین لیتا ہے جو اُن کے دلوں میں بویا گیا ہے۔

But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

پتھریلی زمین پر گرے ہوئے دانے وہ لوگ ہیں جو کلام سنتے ہی اُسے خوشی سے قبول تو کر لیتے ہیں،

Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

لیکن وہ جڑ نہیں پکڑتے اور اِس لئے زیادہ دیر تک قائم نہیں رہتے۔ جوں ہی وہ کلام پر ایمان لانے کے باعث کسی مصیبت یا ایذا رسانی سے دوچار ہو جائیں تو وہ برگشتہ ہو جاتے ہیں۔

He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

خود رَو کانٹےدار پودوں کے درمیان گرے ہوئے دانے وہ لوگ ہیں جو کلام سنتے تو ہیں، لیکن پھر روزمرہ کی پریشانیاں اور دولت کا فریب کلام کو پھلنے پھولنے نہیں دیتا۔ نتیجے میں وہ پھل لانے تک نہیں پہنچتا۔

But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

اِس کے مقابلے میں زرخیز زمین میں گرے ہوئے دانے وہ لوگ ہیں جو کلام کو سن کر اُسے سمجھ لیتے اور بڑھتے بڑھتے تیس گُنا، ساٹھ گُنا بلکہ سَو گُنا تک پھل لاتے ہیں۔“

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں ایک اَور تمثیل سنائی۔ ”آسمان کی بادشاہی اُس کسان سے مطابقت رکھتی ہے جس نے اپنے کھیت میں اچھا بیج بو دیا۔

But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

لیکن جب لوگ سو رہے تھے تو اُس کے دشمن نے آ کر اناج کے پودوں کے درمیان خود رَو پودوں کا بیج بو دیا۔ پھر وہ چلا گیا۔

But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

جب اناج پھوٹ نکلا اور فصل پکنے لگی تو خود رَو پودے بھی نظر آئے۔

So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

نوکر مالک کے پاس آئے اور کہنے لگے، ’جناب، کیا آپ نے اپنے کھیت میں اچھا بیج نہیں بویا تھا؟ تو پھر یہ خود رَو پودے کہاں سے آ گئے ہیں؟‘

He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

اُس نے جواب دیا، ’کسی دشمن نے یہ کر دیا ہے۔‘ نوکروں نے پوچھا، ’کیا ہم جا کر اُنہیں اُکھاڑیں؟‘

But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

’نہیں،‘ اُس نے کہا۔ ’ایسا نہ ہو کہ خود رَو پودوں کے ساتھ ساتھ تم اناج کے پودے بھی اُکھاڑ ڈالو۔

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

اُنہیں فصل کی کٹائی تک مل کر بڑھنے دو۔ اُس وقت مَیں فصل کی کٹائی کرنے والوں سے کہوں گا کہ پہلے خود رَو پودوں کو چن لو اور اُنہیں جلانے کے لئے گٹھوں میں باندھ لو۔ پھر ہی اناج کو جمع کر کے گودام میں لاؤ‘۔“

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں ایک اَور تمثیل سنائی۔ ”آسمان کی بادشاہی رائی کے دانے کی مانند ہے جو کسی نے لے کر اپنے کھیت میں بو دیا۔

Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

گو یہ بیجوں میں سب سے چھوٹا دانہ ہے، لیکن بڑھتے بڑھتے یہ سبزیوں میں سب سے بڑا ہو جاتا ہے۔ بلکہ یہ درخت سا بن جاتا ہے اور پرندے آ کر اُس کی شاخوں میں گھونسلے بنا لیتے ہیں۔“

Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

اُس نے اُنہیں ایک اَور تمثیل بھی سنائی۔ ”آسمان کی بادشاہی خمیر کی مانند ہے جو کسی عورت نے لے کر تقریباً 27 کلو گرام آٹے میں ملا دیا۔ گو وہ اُس میں چھپ گیا توبھی ہوتے ہوتے پورے گُندھے ہوئے آٹے کو خمیر بنا دیا۔“

All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

عیسیٰ نے یہ تمام باتیں ہجوم کے سامنے تمثیلوں کی صورت میں کیں۔ تمثیل کے بغیر اُس نے اُن سے بات ہی نہیں کی۔

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

یوں نبی کی یہ پیش گوئی پوری ہوئی کہ ”مَیں تمثیلوں میں بات کروں گا، مَیں دنیا کی تخلیق سے لے کر آج تک چھپی ہوئی باتیں بیان کروں گا۔“

Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

پھر عیسیٰ ہجوم کو رُخصت کر کے گھر کے اندر چلا گیا۔ اُس کے شاگرد اُس کے پاس آ کر کہنے لگے، ”کھیت میں خود رَو پودوں کی تمثیل کا مطلب ہمیں سمجھائیں۔“

He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

اُس نے جواب دیا، ”اچھا بیج بونے والا ابنِ آدم ہے۔

The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

کھیت دنیا ہے جبکہ اچھے بیج سے مراد بادشاہی کے فرزند ہیں۔ خود رَو پودے ابلیس کے فرزند ہیں

The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

اور اُنہیں بونے والا دشمن ابلیس ہے۔ فصل کی کٹائی کا مطلب دنیا کا اختتام ہے جبکہ فصل کی کٹائی کرنے والے فرشتے ہیں۔

As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

جس طرح تمثیل میں خود رَو پودے اُکھاڑے جاتے اور آگ میں جلائے جاتے ہیں اُسی طرح دنیا کے اختتام پر بھی کیا جائے گا۔

The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

ابنِ آدم اپنے فرشتوں کو بھیج دے گا، اور وہ اُس کی بادشاہی سے برگشتگی کا ہر سبب اور شریعت کی خلاف ورزی کرنے والے ہر شخص کو نکالتے جائیں گے۔

And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

وہ اُنہیں بھڑکتی بھٹی میں پھینک دیں گے جہاں لوگ روتے اور دانت پیستے رہیں گے۔

Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

پھر راست باز اپنے باپ کی بادشاہی میں سورج کی طرح چمکیں گے۔ جو سن سکتا ہے وہ سن لے!

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

آسمان کی بادشاہی کھیت میں چھپے خزانے کی مانند ہے۔ جب کسی آدمی کو اُس کے بارے میں معلوم ہوا تو اُس نے اُسے دوبارہ چھپا دیا۔ پھر وہ خوشی کے مارے چلا گیا، اپنی تمام ملکیت فروخت کر دی اور اُس کھیت کو خرید لیا۔

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

نیز، آسمان کی بادشاہی ایسے سوداگر کی مانند ہے جو اچھے موتیوں کی تلاش میں تھا۔

Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

جب اُسے ایک نہایت قیمتی موتی کے بارے میں معلوم ہوا تو وہ چلا گیا، اپنی تمام ملکیت فروخت کر دی اور اُس موتی کو خرید لیا۔

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

آسمان کی بادشاہی جال کی مانند بھی ہے۔ اُسے جھیل میں ڈالا گیا تو ہر قسم کی مچھلیاں پکڑی گئیں۔

Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

جب وہ بھر گیا تو مچھیروں نے اُسے کنارے پر کھینچ لیا۔ پھر اُنہوں نے بیٹھ کر قابلِ استعمال مچھلیاں چن کر ٹوکریوں میں ڈال دیں اور ناقابلِ استعمال مچھلیاں پھینک دیں۔

So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

دنیا کے اختتام پر ایسا ہی ہو گا۔ فرشتے آئیں گے اور بُرے لوگوں کو راست بازوں سے الگ کر کے

And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

اُنہیں بھڑکتی بھٹی میں پھینک دیں گے جہاں لوگ روتے اور دانت پیستے رہیں گے۔“

Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

عیسیٰ نے پوچھا، ”کیا تم کو اِن تمام باتوں کی سمجھ آ گئی ہے؟“ ”جی،“ شاگردوں نے جواب دیا۔

Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”اِس لئے شریعت کا ہر عالِم جو آسمان کی بادشاہی میں شاگرد بن گیا ہے ایسے مالکِ مکان کی مانند ہے جو اپنے خزانے سے نئے اور پرانے جواہر نکالتا ہے۔“

And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

یہ تمثیلیں سنانے کے بعد عیسیٰ وہاں سے چلا گیا۔

And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

اپنے وطنی شہر ناصرت پہنچ کر وہ عبادت خانے میں لوگوں کو تعلیم دینے لگا۔ اُس کی باتیں سن کر وہ حیرت زدہ ہوئے۔ اُنہوں نے پوچھا، ”اُسے یہ حکمت اور معجزے کرنے کی یہ قدرت کہاں سے حاصل ہوئی ہے؟

Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

کیا یہ بڑھئی کا بیٹا نہیں ہے؟ کیا اُس کی ماں کا نام مریم نہیں ہے، اور کیا اُس کے بھائی یعقوب، یوسف، شمعون اور یہوداہ نہیں ہیں؟

And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

کیا اُس کی بہنیں ہمارے ساتھ نہیں رہتیں؟ تو پھر اُسے یہ سب کچھ کہاں سے مل گیا؟“

And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

یوں وہ اُس سے ٹھوکر کھا کر اُسے قبول کرنے سے قاصر رہے۔ عیسیٰ نے اُن سے کہا، ”نبی کی عزت ہر جگہ کی جاتی ہے سوائے اُس کے وطنی شہر اور اُس کے اپنے خاندان کے۔“

And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

اور اُن کے ایمان کی کمی کے باعث اُس نے وہاں زیادہ معجزے نہ کئے۔
