John 10

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ جو دروازے سے بھیڑوں کے باڑے میں داخل نہیں ہوتا بلکہ پھلانگ کر اندر گھس آتا ہے وہ چور اور ڈاکو ہے۔

But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

لیکن جو دروازے سے داخل ہوتا ہے وہ بھیڑوں کا چرواہا ہے۔

To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

چوکیدار اُس کے لئے دروازہ کھول دیتا ہے اور بھیڑیں اُس کی آواز سنتی ہیں۔ وہ اپنی ہر ایک بھیڑ کا نام لے کر اُنہیں بُلاتا اور باہر لے جاتا ہے۔

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

اپنے پورے گلے کو باہر نکالنے کے بعد وہ اُن کے آگے آگے چلنے لگتا ہے اور بھیڑیں اُس کے پیچھے پیچھے چل پڑتی ہیں، کیونکہ وہ اُس کی آواز پہچانتی ہیں۔

And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

لیکن وہ کسی اجنبی کے پیچھے نہیں چلیں گی بلکہ اُس سے بھاگ جائیں گی، کیونکہ وہ اُس کی آواز نہیں پہچانتیں۔“

This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.

عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں یہ تمثیل پیش کی، لیکن وہ نہ سمجھے کہ وہ اُنہیں کیا بتانا چاہتا ہے۔

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

اِس لئے عیسیٰ دوبارہ اِس پر بات کرنے لگا، ”مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ بھیڑوں کے لئے دروازہ مَیں ہوں۔

All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

جتنے بھی مجھ سے پہلے آئے وہ چور اور ڈاکو ہیں۔ لیکن بھیڑوں نے اُن کی نہ سنی۔

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

مَیں ہی دروازہ ہوں۔ جو بھی میرے ذریعے اندر آئے اُسے نجات ملے گی۔ وہ آتا جاتا اور ہری چراگاہیں پاتا رہے گا۔

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

چور تو صرف چوری کرنے، ذبح کرنے اور تباہ کرنے آتا ہے۔ لیکن مَیں اِس لئے آیا ہوں کہ وہ زندگی پائیں، بلکہ کثرت کی زندگی پائیں۔

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

اچھا چرواہا مَیں ہوں۔ اچھا چرواہا اپنی بھیڑوں کے لئے اپنی جان دیتا ہے۔

But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

مزدور چرواہے کا کردار ادا نہیں کرتا، کیونکہ بھیڑیں اُس کی اپنی نہیں ہوتیں۔ اِس لئے جوں ہی کوئی بھیڑیا آتا ہے تو مزدور اُسے دیکھتے ہی بھیڑوں کو چھوڑ کر بھاگ جاتا ہے۔ نتیجے میں بھیڑیا کچھ بھیڑیں پکڑ لیتا اور باقیوں کو منتشر کر دیتا ہے۔

The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

وجہ یہ ہے کہ وہ مزدور ہی ہے اور بھیڑوں کی فکر نہیں کرتا۔

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

اچھا چرواہا مَیں ہوں۔ مَیں اپنی بھیڑوں کو جانتا ہوں اور وہ مجھے جانتی ہیں،

As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

بالکل اُسی طرح جس طرح باپ مجھے جانتا ہے اور مَیں باپ کو جانتا ہوں۔ اور مَیں بھیڑوں کے لئے اپنی جان دیتا ہوں۔

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

میری اَور بھی بھیڑیں ہیں جو اِس باڑے میں نہیں ہیں۔ لازم ہے کہ اُنہیں بھی لے آؤں۔ وہ بھی میری آواز سنیں گی۔ پھر ایک ہی گلہ اور ایک ہی گلہ بان ہو گا۔

Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

میرا باپ مجھے اِس لئے پیار کرتا ہے کہ مَیں اپنی جان دیتا ہوں تاکہ اُسے پھر لے لوں۔

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

کوئی میری جان مجھ سے چھین نہیں سکتا بلکہ مَیں اُسے اپنی مرضی سے دے دیتا ہوں۔ مجھے اُسے دینے کا اختیار ہے اور اُسے واپس لینے کا بھی۔ یہ حکم مجھے اپنے باپ کی طرف سے ملا ہے۔“

There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.

اِن باتوں پر یہودیوں میں دوبارہ پھوٹ پڑ گئی۔

And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?

بہتوں نے کہا، ”یہ بدروح کی گرفت میں ہے، یہ دیوانہ ہے۔ اِس کی کیوں سنیں!“

Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

لیکن اَوروں نے کہا، ”یہ ایسی باتیں نہیں ہیں جو بدروح گرفتہ شخص کر سکے۔ کیا بدروحیں اندھوں کی آنکھیں بحال کر سکتی ہیں؟“

And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

سردیوں کا موسم تھا اور عیسیٰ بیت المُقدّس کی مخصوصیت کی عید بنام حنوکا کے دوران یروشلم میں تھا۔

And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.

وہ بیت المُقدّس کے اُس برآمدے میں پھر رہا تھا جس کا نام سلیمان کا برآمدہ تھا۔

Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

یہودی اُسے گھیر کر کہنے لگے، ”آپ ہمیں کب تک اُلجھن میں رکھیں گے؟ اگر آپ مسیح ہیں تو ہمیں صاف صاف بتا دیں۔“

Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں تم کو بتا چکا ہوں، لیکن تم کو یقین نہیں آیا۔ جو کام مَیں اپنے باپ کے نام سے کرتا ہوں وہ میرے گواہ ہیں۔

But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

لیکن تم ایمان نہیں رکھتے کیونکہ تم میری بھیڑیں نہیں ہو۔

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

میری بھیڑیں میری آواز سنتی ہیں۔ مَیں اُنہیں جانتا ہوں اور وہ میرے پیچھے چلتی ہیں۔

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

مَیں اُنہیں ابدی زندگی دیتا ہوں، اِس لئے وہ کبھی ہلاک نہیں ہوں گی۔ کوئی اُنہیں میرے ہاتھ سے چھین نہ لے گا،

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

کیونکہ میرے باپ نے اُنہیں میرے سپرد کیا ہے اور وہی سب سے بڑا ہے۔ کوئی اُنہیں باپ کے ہاتھ سے چھین نہیں سکتا۔

I and my Father are one.

مَیں اور باپ ایک ہیں۔“

Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

یہ سن کر یہودی دوبارہ پتھر اُٹھانے لگے تاکہ عیسیٰ کو سنگسار کریں۔

Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”مَیں نے تمہیں باپ کی طرف سے کئی الٰہی نشان دکھائے ہیں۔ تم مجھے اِن میں سے کس نشان کی وجہ سے سنگسار کر رہے ہو؟“

The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

یہودیوں نے جواب دیا، ”ہم تم کو کسی اچھے کام کی وجہ سے سنگسار نہیں کر رہے بلکہ کفر بکنے کی وجہ سے۔ تم جو صرف انسان ہو اللہ ہونے کا دعویٰ کرتے ہو۔“

Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”کیا یہ تمہاری شریعت میں نہیں لکھا ہے کہ اللہ نے فرمایا، ’تم خدا ہو‘؟

If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

اُنہیں ’خدا‘ کہا گیا جن تک اللہ کا یہ پیغام پہنچایا گیا۔ اور ہم جانتے ہیں کہ کلامِ مُقدّس کو منسوخ نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔

Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

تو پھر تم کفر بکنے کی بات کیوں کرتے ہو جب مَیں کہتا ہوں کہ مَیں اللہ کا فرزند ہوں؟ آخر باپ نے خود مجھے مخصوص کر کے دنیا میں بھیجا ہے۔

If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.

اگر مَیں اپنے باپ کے کام نہ کروں تو میری بات نہ مانو۔

But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

لیکن اگر اُس کے کام کروں تو بےشک میری بات نہ مانو، لیکن کم از کم اُن کاموں کی گواہی تو مانو۔ پھر تم جان لو گے اور سمجھ جاؤ گے کہ باپ مجھ میں ہے اور مَیں باپ میں ہوں۔“

Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

ایک بار پھر اُنہوں نے اُسے گرفتار کرنے کی کوشش کی، لیکن وہ اُن کے ہاتھ سے نکل گیا۔

And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.

پھر عیسیٰ دوبارہ دریائے یردن کے پار اُس جگہ چلا گیا جہاں یحییٰ شروع میں بپتسمہ دیا کرتا تھا۔ وہاں وہ کچھ دیر ٹھہرا۔

And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.

بہت سے لوگ اُس کے پاس آتے رہے۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”یحییٰ نے کبھی کوئی الٰہی نشان نہ دکھایا، لیکن جو کچھ اُس نے اِس کے بارے میں بیان کیا، وہ بالکل صحیح نکلا۔“

And many believed on him there.

اور وہاں بہت سے لوگ عیسیٰ پر ایمان لائے۔
