Ephesians 5

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Sede pois imitadores de Deus, como filhos amados;

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

e andai em amor, como Cristo também nos amou, e se entregou a si mesmo por nós, como oferta e sacrifício a Deus, em cheiro suave.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Mas a prostituição, e toda sorte de impureza ou cobiça, nem sequer se nomeie entre vós, como convém a santos,

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

nem baixaria, nem palavras vãs, nem gracejos indecentes, coisas essas que não convêm; mas antes ações de graças.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Porque bem sabeis isto: que nenhum mulherengo, ou impuro, ou avarento, o qual é idólatra, tem qualquer herança no reino de Cristo e de Deus.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Ninguém vos engane com palavras vãs; porque por estas coisas vem a ira de Deus sobre os filhos da desobediência.

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

Portanto não sejais participantes com eles;

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

pois por algum tempo éreis trevas, mas agora sois luz no Senhor; andai como filhos da luz

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

(pois o fruto do Espírito consiste em toda a bondade, e justiça, e verdade),

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

provando o que é aceitável ao Senhor;

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

e não vos associeis às obras infrutuosas das trevas, antes, porém, condenai-as;

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

porque as coisas feitas por eles em oculto, até o dizê-las é vergonhoso.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Mas todas estas coisas que são condenadas se manifestam pela luz, pois tudo o que torna manifesto é luz.

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Pelo que diz: Desperta, tu que dormes, e levanta-te dentre os mortos, e Cristo te dará luz.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Portanto, vede que andeis prudentemente, não como néscios, mas como sábios,

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

remindo o tempo, pois os dias são maus.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Por isso, não sejais insensatos, mas entendidos de qual seja a vontade do Senhor.

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

E não vos embriagueis com vinho, no qual há dissolução, mas enchei-vos do Espírito,

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

falando entre vós em salmos, e hinos, e cânticos espirituais, cantando e melodiando ao Senhor no vosso coração,

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

sempre dando graças por tudo a Deus, o Pai, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

sujeitando-vos uns aos outros no temor de Deus.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Vós, mulheres, submetei-vos a vossos próprios maridos, como ao Senhor;

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

porque o marido é a cabeça da mulher, como também Cristo é a cabeça da igreja: e ele é o Salvador do corpo.

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Portanto, assim como a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim também as mulheres o sejam em tudo a seus próprios maridos.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Vós, maridos, amai a vossas mulheres, como também Cristo amou a igreja, e a si mesmo se entregou por ela,

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

a fim de a santificar, e a purificar com a lavagem da água, pela palavra,

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

para apresentá-la a si mesmo igreja gloriosa, sem mácula, nem ruga, nem qualquer coisa semelhante, mas santa e irrepreensível.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Assim devem os maridos amar a suas próprias mulheres, como a seus próprios corpos. Quem ama a sua mulher, ama-se a si mesmo.

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

Pois até agora ninguém odiou a sua própria carne; antes a nutre e preza, como também o Senhor à igreja;

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

porque somos membros do seu corpo, da sua carne, e dos seus ossos.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Por isso deixará o homem a seu pai e sua mãe, e se unirá à sua mulher, e serão os dois uma só carne.

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Grande é este mistério, mas eu falo em referência a Cristo e à igreja.

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Todavia, que cada um de vós, particularmente, ame a sua própria mulher como a si mesmo, e a mulher reverencie a seu marido.
