Proverbs 12

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

Chi ama la correzione ama la scienza, ma chi odia la riprensione è uno stupido.

A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

L’uomo buono ottiene il favore dell’Eterno, ma l’Eterno condanna l’uomo pien di malizia.

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

L’uomo non diventa stabile con l’empietà, ma la radice dei giusti non sarà mai smossa.

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

La donna virtuosa è la corona del marito, ma quella che fa vergogna gli è un tarlo nell’ossa.

The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

I pensieri dei giusti sono equità, ma i disegni degli empi son frode.

The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

Le parole degli empi insidiano la vita, ma la bocca degli uomini retti procura liberazione.

The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

Gli empi, una volta rovesciati, non sono più, ma la casa dei giusti rimane in piedi.

A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

L’uomo è lodato in proporzione del suo senno, ma chi ha il cuore pervertito sarà sprezzato.

He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

E’ meglio essere in umile stato ed avere un servo, che fare il borioso e mancar di pane.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Il giusto ha cura della vita del suo bestiame, ma le viscere degli empi sono crudeli.

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

Chi coltiva la sua terra avrà pane da saziarsi, ma chi va dietro ai fannulloni e privo di senno.

The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

L’empio agogna la preda de’ malvagi, ma la radice dei giusti porta il suo frutto.

The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

Nel peccato delle labbra sta un’insidia funesta, ma il giusto uscirà dalla distretta.

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

Per il frutto della sua bocca l’uomo è saziato di beni, e ad ognuno è reso secondo l’opera delle sue mani.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

La via dello stolto è diritta agli occhi suoi, ma chi ascolta i consigli è savio.

A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

Lo stolto lascia scorger subito il suo cruccio, ma chi dissimula un affronto è uomo accorto.

He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

Chi dice la verità proclama ciò ch’è giusto, ma il falso testimonio parla con inganno.

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

C’è chi, parlando inconsultamente trafigge come spada, ma la lingua de’ savi reca guarigione.

The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Il labbro veridico è stabile in perpetuo, ma la lingua bugiarda non dura che un istante.

Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

L’inganno è nel cuore di chi macchina il male, ma per chi nutre propositi di pace v’è gioia.

There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

Nessun male incoglie al giusto, ma gli empi son pieni di guai.

Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

Le labbra bugiarde sono un abominio per l’Eterno, ma quelli che agiscono con sincerità gli sono graditi.

A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

L’uomo accorto nasconde quello che sa, ma il cuor degli stolti proclama la loro follia.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

La mano dei diligenti dominerà, ma la pigra sarà tributaria.

Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Il cordoglio ch’è nel cuore dell’uomo l’abbatte, ma la parola buona lo rallegra.

The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

Il giusto indica la strada al suo compagno, ma la via degli empi li fa smarrire.

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

Il pigro non arrostisce la sua caccia, ma la solerzia è per l’uomo un tesoro prezioso.

In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Nel sentiero della giustizia sta la vita, e nella via ch’essa traccia non v’è morte.
