Job 9

फिर अय्यूब ने उत्तर दिया:

Then Job answered and said,

“हाँ, मैं जानता हूँ कि तू सत्य कहता है किन्तु मनुष्य परमेश्वर के सामने निर्दोष कैसे हो सकता है?

I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

मनुष्य परमेश्वर से तर्क नहीं कर सकता। परमेश्वर मनुष्य से हजारों प्रश्न पूछ सकता है और कोई उनमें से एक का भी उत्तर नहीं दे सकता है।

If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.

परमेश्वर का विवेक गहन है, उसकी शक्ति महान है। ऐसा कोई व्यक्ति नहीं जो परमेश्वर से झगड़े और हानि न उठाये।

He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?

जब परमेश्वर क्रोधित होता है, वह पर्वतों को हटा देता है और वे जान तक नहीं पाते।

Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.

परमेश्वर पृथ्वी को कँपाने के लिये भूकम्प भेजता है। परमेश्वर पृथ्वी की नींव को हिला देता है।

Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.

परमेश्वर सूर्य को आज्ञा दे सकता है और उसे उगने से रोक सकता हैं। वह तारों को बन्द कर सकता है ताकि वे न चमकें।

Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.

केवल परमेश्वर ने आकाशों की रचना की। वह सागर की लहरों पर विचरण कर सकता है।

Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.

“परमेश्वर ने सप्तर्षी, मृगशिरा और कचपचिया तारों को बनाया है। उसने उन ग्रहों को बनाया जो दक्षिण का आकाश पार करते हैं।

Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.

परमेश्वर ऐसे अद्भुत कर्म करता है जिन्हें मनुष्य नहीं समझ सकता। परमेश्वर के महान आश्चर्यकर्मों का कोई अन्त नहीं है।

Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.

परमेश्वर जब मेरे पास से निकलता है, मैं उसे देख नहीं पाता हूँ। परमेश्वर जब मेरी बगल से निकल जाता है। मैं उसकी महानता को समझ नहीं पाता।

Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.

यदि परमेश्वर छीनने लगता है तो कोई भी उसे रोक नहीं सकता। कोई भी उससे कह नहीं सकता, ‘तू क्या कर रहा है।’

Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?

परमेश्वर अपने क्रोध को नहीं रोकेगा। यहाँ तक कि राहाब दानव (सागर का दैत्य) के सहायक भी परमेश्वर से डरते हैं।

If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.

अत: परमेश्वर से मैं तर्क नहीं कर सकता। मैं नहीं जानता कि उससे क्या कहा जाये।

How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?

मैं यद्यपि निर्दोष हूँ किन्तु मैं परमेश्वर को एक उत्तर नहीं दे सकता। मैं बस अपने न्यायकर्ता (परमेश्वर)से दया की याचना कर सकता हूँ।

Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.

यदि मैं उसे पुकारुँ और वह उत्तर दे, तब भी मुझे विश्वास नहीं होगा कि वह सचमुच मेरी सुनता है।

If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.

परमेश्वर मुझे कुचलने के लिये तूफान भेजेगा और वह मुझे अकारण ही और अधिक घावों को देगा।

For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.

परमेश्वर मुझे फिर साँस नहीं लेने देगा। वह मुझे और अधिक यातना देगा।

He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.

मैं परमेश्वर को पराजित नहीं कर सकता। परमेश्वर शक्तिशाली है। मैं परमेश्वर को न्यायालय में नहीं ले जा सकता और उसे अपने प्रति मैं निष्पक्ष नहीं बना सकता। परमेश्वर को न्यायालय में आने के लिये कौन विवश कर सकता है

If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?

मैं निर्दोंष हूँ किन्तु मेरा भयभीत मुख मुझे अपराधी कहेगा। अत: यद्यपि मैं निरपराधी हूँ किन्तु मेरा मुख मुझे अपराधी घोषित करता है।

If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.

मैं पाप रहित हूँ किन्तु मुझे अपनी ही परवाह नहीं है। मैं स्वयं अपने ही जीवन से घृणा करता हूँ।

Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.

मैं स्वयं से कहता हूँ हर किसी के साथ एक सा ही घटित होता है। निरपराध लोग भी वैसे ही मरते हैं जैसे अपराधी मरते हैं। परमेश्वर उन सबके जीवन का अन्त करता है।

This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.

जब कोई भयंकर बात घटती है और कोई निर्दोष व्यक्ति मारा जाता है तो क्या परमेश्वर उसके दु:ख पर हँसता है?

If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.

जब धरती दुष्ट जन को दी जाती है तो क्या मुखिया को परमेश्वर अंधा कर देता है? यदि यह परमेश्वर ने नहीं किया तो फिर किसने किया है?

The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?

“किसी तेज धावक से तेज मेरे दिन भाग रहे हैं। मेरे दिन उड़ कर बीत रहे हैं और उनमें कोई प्रसन्नता नहीं है।

Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.

वेग से मेरे दिन बीत रहे हैं जैसे श्री—पत्र की नाव बही चली जाती है, मेरे दिन टूट पड़ते है ऐसे जैसे उकाब अपने शिकार पर टूट पड़ता हो!

They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.

“यदि मैं कहूँ कि मैं अपना दुखड़ा रोऊँगा, अपना दु:ख भूल जाऊँगा और उदासी छोड़कर हँसने लगूँगा।

If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:

इससे वास्तव में कोई भी परिवर्तन नहीं होता है। पीड़ा मुझे अभी भी भयभीत करती है।

I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.

मुझे तो पहले से ही अपराधी ठहराया जा चुका है, सो मैं क्यों जतन करता रहूँ मैं तो कहता हूँ, “भूल जाओ इसे।”

If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?

चाहे मैं अपने आपको हिम से धो लूँ और यहाँ तक की अपने हाथ साबुन से साफ कर लूँ!

If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;

फिर भी परमेश्वर मुझे घिनौने गर्त में धकेल देगा जहाँ मेरे वस्र तक मुझसे घृणा करेंगे।

Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.

परमेश्वर, मुझ जैसा मनुष्य नहीं है। इसलिए उसको मैं उत्तर नहीं दे सकता। हम दोनों न्यायालय में एक दूसरे से मिल नहीं सकते।

For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.

काश! कोई बिचौलिया होता जो दोनों तरफ की बातें सुनता। काश! कोई ऐसा होता जो हम दोनों का न्याय निष्पक्ष रूप से करता।

Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.

काश! कोई जो परमेश्वर से उस की दण्ड की छड़ी को ले। तब परमेश्वर मुझे और अधिक भयभीत नहीं करेगा।

Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:

तब मैं बिना डरे परमेश्वर से वह सब कह सकूँगा, जो मैं कहना चाहता हूँ।

Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
