Proverbs 12

اگر اشتباهات شخص عاقل را به او بگویی، خوشحال می‌شود؛ امّا احمق از انتقاد نفرت دارد.

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

خداوند از مردم خیرخواه خشنود است، امّا کسانی را که نقشه‌های شیطانی می‌کشند، محکوم می‌کند.

A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

انسان از بدی به جایی نمی‌رسد، امّا مردم درستکار ثابت و استوار خواهند بود.

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

زن پاکدامن مایهٔ سرافرازی و شادی شوهرش می‌باشد. امّا زنی که موجب شرمندگی شوهرش می‌شود، مانند سرطان استخوان است.

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

راستگویان، با انصاف با تو برخورد می‌کنند، امّا نیّت شریران این است که تو را گول بزنند.

The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

سخنان شخص شریر کشنده است، امّا سخنان شخص نیکو تهدید شدگان را رهایی می‌بخشد.

The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

مردم شریر هلاک می‌شوند و نسل آنها باقی نمی‌ماند، ولی نسل مردم نیک پایدار خواهند بود.

The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

شخص عاقل مورد احترام همه است، امّا مردم احمق خوار می‌شوند.

A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

اگر انسان یک شخص معمولی باشد و به اندازهٔ احتیاجش داشته باشد، بهتر از این است که خود را آدم بزرگی نشان بدهد ولی نان شب نداشته باشد.

He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

شخص نیکو برای جان حیوانات خود هم فکر می‌کند، امّا مردم شریر به آنها ظلم می‌کنند.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

زارع پرکار آذوقه فراوان خواهد داشت، امّا کسی‌که وقت خود را بیهوده تلف می‌کند، احمق است.

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

تنها چیزی که مردم شریر می‌خواهند، این است که کارهای ظالمانه انجام دهند، امّا کارهای مردم نیک نتایج خوبی خواهد داشت.

The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

مردم شریر به وسیلهٔ حرفهای خود گرفتار می‌شوند، امّا شخص عادل از گرفتاری نجات پیدا می‌کند.

The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

اجرت و پاداش هرکس مربوط به حرفهایی است که می‌زند و کارهایی که انجام می‌دهد. هرچه بکاری همان را درو می‌‌کنی.

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

مردم احمق خیال می‌کنند که همه‌چیز را خوب می‌دانند، امّا مردم عاقل به نصایح دیگران توجّه می‌کنند.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

احمق خشم خود را فوراً ظاهر می‌کند، امّا مردم عاقل بی‌احترامی و توهین را نادیده می‌گیرند.

A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

وقتی‌که حقیقت را می‌گویید، عدالت انجام می‌شود؛ ولی دروغ، عدالت را زیر پا می‌گذارد.

He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

سخنی که از روی نادانی گفته شود مثل شمشیر تیز قلب انسان را جریحه‌دار می‌کند، امّا سخنان عاقلان دل را التیام می‌بخشد.

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

عمر دروغ کوتاه است، امّا راستی تا ابد استوار می‌ماند.

The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

کسانی‌که افکار شیطانی دارند، دلشان پر از فریب است، امّا آنانی‌که کارهای نیکو می‌کنند، خوشحال می‌شوند.

Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

برای مردم درستکار واقعهٔ بد رخ نمی‌دهد، امّا شریران همیشه در زحمت هستند.

There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

خداوند از دروغگویان متنفّر است، امّا از مردم درستکار خشنود است.

Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

شخص حکیم، دانش خود را آشکار نمی‌کند، امّا احمق فوراً نادانی خود را ظاهر می‌سازد.

A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

سعی و کوشش به تو قدرت و توانایی می‌بخشد، امّا تنبلی تو را به بردگی می‌اندازد.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

نگرانی، شادی را از بین می‌برد، ولی سخنان خوب دل را شاد می‌سازد.

Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

مردم درستکار، راهنمای دوستان خود هستند، امّا راه شریران گمراه کننده است.

The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

مردم تنبل حتّی شکار خود را هم کباب نمی‌کنند، امّا مردم زرنگ از هر فرصتی استفاده می‌کنند.

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

عدالت و راستی، راه زندگی و نادرستی، راه مرگ و نابودی است.

In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
