Proverbs 5

میرے بیٹے، میری حکمت پر دھیان دے، میری سمجھ کی باتوں پر کان دھر۔

My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

پھر تُو تمیز کا دامن تھامے رہے گا، اور تیرے ہونٹ علم و عرفان محفوظ رکھیں گے۔

That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

کیونکہ زناکار عورت کے ہونٹوں سے شہد ٹپکتا ہے، اُس کی باتیں تیل کی طرح چِکنی چپڑی ہوتی ہیں۔

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

لیکن انجام میں وہ زہر جیسی کڑوی اور دو دھاری تلوار جیسی تیز ثابت ہوتی ہے۔

But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

اُس کے پاؤں موت کی طرف اُترتے، اُس کے قدم پاتال کی جانب بڑھتے جاتے ہیں۔

Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

اُس کے راستے کبھی اِدھر کبھی اُدھر پھرتے ہیں تاکہ تُو زندگی کی راہ پر توجہ نہ دے اور اُس کی آوارگی کو جان نہ لے۔

Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

چنانچہ میرے بیٹو، میری سنو اور میرے منہ کی باتوں سے دُور نہ ہو جاؤ۔

Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

اپنے راستے اُس سے دُور رکھ، اُس کے گھر کے دروازے کے قریب بھی نہ جا۔

Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

ایسا نہ ہو کہ تُو اپنی طاقت کسی اَور کے لئے صَرف کرے اور اپنے سال ظالم کے لئے ضائع کرے۔

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

ایسا نہ ہو کہ پردیسی تیری ملکیت سے سیر ہو جائیں، کہ جو کچھ تُو نے محنت مشقت سے حاصل کیا وہ کسی اَور کے گھر میں آئے۔

Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

تب آخرکار تیرا بدن اور گوشت گھل جائیں گے، اور تُو آہیں بھر بھر کر

And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

کہے گا، ”ہائے، مَیں نے کیوں تربیت سے نفرت کی، میرے دل نے کیوں سرزنش کو حقیر جانا؟

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

ہدایت کرنے والوں کی مَیں نے نہ سنی، اپنے اُستادوں کی باتوں پر کان نہ دھرا۔

And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

جماعت کے درمیان ہی رہتے ہوئے مجھ پر ایسی آفت آئی کہ مَیں تباہی کے دہانے تک پہنچ گیا ہوں۔“

I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

اپنے ہی حوض کا پانی اور اپنے ہی کنویں سے پھوٹنے والا پانی پی لے۔

Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

کیا مناسب ہے کہ تیرے چشمے گلیوں میں اور تیری ندیاں چوکوں میں بہہ نکلیں؟

Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

جو پانی تیرا اپنا ہے وہ تجھ تک محدود رہے، اجنبی اُس میں شریک نہ ہو جائے۔

Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

تیرا چشمہ مبارک ہو۔ ہاں، اپنی بیوی سے خوش رہ۔

Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

وہی تیری من موہن ہرنی اور دل رُبا غزال ہے۔ اُسی کا پیار تجھے تر و تازہ کرے، اُسی کی محبت تجھے ہمیشہ مست رکھے۔

Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

میرے بیٹے، تُو اجنبی عورت سے کیوں مست ہو جائے، کسی دوسرے کی بیوی سے کیوں لپٹ جائے؟

And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

خیال رکھ، انسان کی راہیں رب کو صاف دکھائی دیتی ہیں، جہاں بھی وہ چلے اُس پر وہ توجہ دیتا ہے۔

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

بےدین کی اپنی ہی حرکتیں اُسے پھنسا دیتی ہیں، وہ اپنے ہی گناہ کے رسّوں میں جکڑا رہتا ہے۔

His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

وہ تربیت کی کمی کے سبب سے ہلاک ہو جائے گا، اپنی بڑی حماقت کے باعث ڈگمگاتے ہوئے اپنے انجام کو پہنچے گا۔

He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
