Acts 9

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

اب تک ساؤل خداوند کے شاگردوں کو دھمکانے اور قتل کرنے کے درپَے تھا۔ اُس نے امامِ اعظم کے پاس جا کر

And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

اُس سے گزارش کی کہ ”مجھے دمشق میں یہودی عبادت خانوں کے لئے سفارشی خط لکھ کر دیں تاکہ وہ میرے ساتھ تعاون کریں۔ کیونکہ مَیں وہاں مسیح کی راہ پر چلنے والوں کو خواہ وہ مرد ہوں یا خواتین ڈھونڈ کر اور باندھ کر یروشلم لانا چاہتا ہوں۔“

And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

وہ اِس مقصد سے سفر کر کے دمشق کے قریب پہنچا ہی تھا کہ اچانک آسمان کی طرف سے ایک تیز روشنی اُس کے گرد چمکی۔

And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

وہ زمین پر گر پڑا تو ایک آواز سنائی دی، ”ساؤل، ساؤل، تُو مجھے کیوں ستاتا ہے؟“

And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

اُس نے پوچھا، ”خداوند، آپ کون ہیں؟“ آواز نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں عیسیٰ ہوں جسے تُو ستاتا ہے۔

And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

اب اُٹھ کر شہر میں جا۔ وہاں تجھے بتایا جائے گا کہ تجھے کیا کرنا ہے۔“

And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

ساؤل کے پاس کھڑے ہم سفر دم بخود رہ گئے۔ آواز تو وہ سن رہے تھے، لیکن اُنہیں کوئی نظر نہ آیا۔

And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

ساؤل زمین پر سے اُٹھا، لیکن جب اُس نے اپنی آنکھیں کھولیں تو معلوم ہوا کہ وہ اندھا ہے۔ چنانچہ اُس کے ساتھی اُس کا ہاتھ پکڑ کر اُسے دمشق لے گئے۔

And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

وہاں تین دن کے دوران وہ اندھا رہا۔ اِتنے میں اُس نے نہ کچھ کھایا، نہ پیا۔

And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

اُس وقت دمشق میں عیسیٰ کا ایک شاگرد رہتا تھا جس کا نام حننیاہ تھا۔ اب خداوند رویا میں اُس سے ہم کلام ہوا، ”حننیاہ!“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”جی خداوند، مَیں حاضر ہوں۔“

And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

خداوند نے فرمایا، ”اُٹھ، اُس گلی میں جا جو ’سیدھی‘ کہلاتی ہے۔ وہاں یہوداہ کے گھر میں ترسس کے ایک آدمی کا پتا کرنا جس کا نام ساؤل ہے۔ کیونکہ دیکھ، وہ دعا کر رہا ہے۔

And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

اور رویا میں اُس نے دیکھ لیا ہے کہ ایک آدمی بنام حننیاہ میرے پاس آ کر اپنے ہاتھ مجھ پر رکھے گا۔ اِس سے میری آنکھیں بحال ہو جائیں گی۔“

Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

حننیاہ نے اعتراض کیا، ”اے خداوند، مَیں نے بہت سے لوگوں سے اُس شخص کی شریر حرکتوں کے بارے میں سنا ہے۔ یروشلم میں اُس نے تیرے مُقدّسوں کے ساتھ بہت زیادتی کی ہے۔

And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

اب اُسے راہنما اماموں سے اختیار مل گیا ہے کہ یہاں بھی ہر ایک کو گرفتار کرے جو تیری عبادت کرتا ہے۔“

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

لیکن خداوند نے کہا، ”جا، یہ آدمی میرا چنا ہوا وسیلہ ہے جو میرا نام غیریہودیوں، بادشاہوں اور اسرائیلیوں تک پہنچائے گا۔

For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

اور مَیں اُسے دکھا دوں گا کہ اُسے میرے نام کی خاطر کتنا دُکھ اُٹھانا پڑے گا۔“

And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

چنانچہ حننیاہ مذکورہ گھر کے پاس گیا، اُس میں داخل ہوا اور اپنے ہاتھ ساؤل پر رکھ دیئے۔ اُس نے کہا، ”ساؤل بھائی، خداوند عیسیٰ جو آپ پر ظاہر ہوا جب آپ یہاں آ رہے تھے اُسی نے مجھے بھیجا ہے تاکہ آپ دوبارہ دیکھ پائیں اور روح القدس سے معمور ہو جائیں۔“

And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

یہ کہتے ہی چھلکوں جیسی کوئی چیز ساؤل کی آنکھوں پر سے گری اور وہ دوبارہ دیکھنے لگا۔ اُس نے اُٹھ کر بپتسمہ لیا،

And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

پھر کچھ کھانا کھا کر نئے سرے سے تقویت پائی۔ ساؤل کئی دن شاگردوں کے ساتھ دمشق میں رہا۔

And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

اُسی وقت وہ سیدھا یہودی عبادت خانوں میں جا کر اعلان کرنے لگا کہ عیسیٰ اللہ کا فرزند ہے۔

But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

اور جس نے بھی اُسے سنا وہ حیران رہ گیا اور پوچھا، ”کیا یہ وہ آدمی نہیں جو یروشلم میں عیسیٰ کی عبادت کرنے والوں کو ہلاک کر رہا تھا؟ اور کیا وہ اِس مقصد سے یہاں نہیں آیا کہ ایسے لوگوں کو باندھ کر راہنما اماموں کے پاس لے جائے؟“

But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

لیکن ساؤل روز بہ روز زور پکڑتا گیا، اور چونکہ اُس نے ثابت کیا کہ عیسیٰ وعدہ کیا ہوا مسیح ہے اِس لئے دمشق میں آباد یہودی اُلجھن میں پڑ گئے۔

And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:

چنانچہ کافی دنوں کے بعد اُنہوں نے مل کر اُسے قتل کرنے کا منصوبہ بنایا۔

But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

لیکن ساؤل کو پتا چل گیا۔ یہودی دن رات شہر کے دروازوں کی پہرہ داری کرتے رہے تاکہ اُسے قتل کریں،

Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

اِس لئے اُس کے شاگردوں نے اُسے رات کے وقت ٹوکرے میں بٹھا کر شہر کی چاردیواری کے ایک سوراخ میں سے اُتار دیا۔

And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

ساؤل یروشلم واپس چلا گیا۔ وہاں اُس نے شاگردوں سے رابطہ کرنے کی کوشش کی، لیکن سب اُس سے ڈرتے تھے، کیونکہ اُنہیں یقین نہیں آیا تھا کہ وہ واقعی عیسیٰ کا شاگرد بن گیا ہے۔

But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

پھر برنباس اُسے رسولوں کے پاس لے آیا۔ اُس نے اُنہیں ساؤل کے بارے میں سب کچھ بتایا، کہ اُس نے دمشق کی طرف سفر کرتے وقت راستے میں خداوند کو دیکھا، کہ خداوند اُس سے ہم کلام ہوا تھا اور اُس نے دمشق میں دلیری سے عیسیٰ کے نام سے بات کی تھی۔

And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.

چنانچہ ساؤل اُن کے ساتھ رہ کر آزادی سے یروشلم میں پھرنے اور دلیری سے خداوند عیسیٰ کے نام سے کلام کرنے لگا۔

And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

اُس نے یونانی زبان بولنے والے یہودیوں سے بھی مخاطب ہو کر بحث کی، لیکن جواب میں وہ اُسے قتل کرنے کی کوشش کرنے لگے۔

Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Cæsarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

جب بھائیوں کو معلوم ہوا تو اُنہوں نے اُسے قیصریہ پہنچا دیا اور جہاز میں بٹھا کر ترسس کے لئے روانہ کر دیا۔

Then had the churches rest throughout all Judæa and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

اِس پر یہودیہ، گلیل اور سامریہ کے پورے علاقے میں پھیلی ہوئی جماعت کو امن و امان حاصل ہوا۔ روح القدس کی حمایت سے اُس کی تعمیر و تقویت ہوئی، وہ خدا کا خوف مان کر چلتی رہی اور تعداد میں بھی بڑھتی گئی۔

And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

ایک دن جب پطرس جگہ جگہ سفر کر رہا تھا تو وہ لُدہ میں آباد مُقدّسوں کے پاس بھی آیا۔

And there he found a certain man named Æneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

وہاں اُس کی ملاقات ایک آدمی بنام اینیاس سے ہوئی۔ اینیاس مفلوج تھا۔ وہ آٹھ سال سے بستر سے اُٹھ نہ سکا تھا۔

And Peter said unto him, Æneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

پطرس نے اُس سے کہا، ”اینیاس، عیسیٰ مسیح آپ کو شفا دیتا ہے۔ اُٹھ کر اپنا بستر سمیٹ لیں۔“ اینیاس فوراً اُٹھ کھڑا ہوا۔

And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

جب لُدہ اور میدانی علاقے شارون کے تمام رہنے والوں نے اُسے دیکھا تو اُنہوں نے خداوند کی طرف رجوع کیا۔

Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

یافا میں ایک عورت تھی جو شاگرد تھی اور نیک کام کرنے اور خیرات دینے میں بہت آگے تھی۔ اُس کا نام تبیتا (غزالہ) تھا۔

And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

اُن ہی دنوں میں وہ بیمار ہو کر فوت ہو گئی۔ لوگوں نے اُسے غسل دے کر بالاخانے میں رکھ دیا۔

And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

لُدہ یافا کے قریب ہے، اِس لئے جب شاگردوں نے سنا کہ پطرس لُدہ میں ہے تو اُنہوں نے اُس کے پاس دو آدمیوں کو بھیج کر التماس کی، ”سیدھے ہمارے پاس آئیں اور دیر نہ کریں۔“

Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

پطرس اُٹھ کر اُن کے ساتھ چلا گیا۔ وہاں پہنچ کر لوگ اُسے بالاخانے میں لے گئے۔ تمام بیواؤں نے اُسے گھیر لیا اور روتے چلّاتے وہ ساری قمیصیں اور باقی لباس دکھانے لگیں جو تبیتا نے اُن کے لئے بنائے تھے جب وہ ابھی زندہ تھی۔

But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

لیکن پطرس نے اُن سب کو کمرے سے نکال دیا اور گھٹنے ٹیک کر دعا کی۔ پھر لاش کی طرف مُڑ کر اُس نے کہا، ”تبیتا، اُٹھیں!“ عورت نے اپنی آنکھیں کھول دیں۔ پطرس کو دیکھ کر وہ بیٹھ گئی۔

And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

پطرس نے اُس کا ہاتھ پکڑ لیا اور اُٹھنے میں اُس کی مدد کی۔ پھر اُس نے مُقدّسوں اور بیواؤں کو بُلا کر تبیتا کو زندہ اُن کے سپرد کیا۔

And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

یہ واقعہ پورے یافا میں مشہور ہوا، اور بہت سے لوگ خداوند عیسیٰ پر ایمان لائے۔

And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

پطرس کافی دنوں تک یافا میں رہا۔ وہاں وہ چمڑا رنگنے والے ایک آدمی کے گھر ٹھہرا جس کا نام شمعون تھا۔
