I Corinthians 11

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

میرے نمونے پر چلیں جس طرح مَیں مسیح کے نمونے پر چلتا ہوں۔

Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

شاباش کہ آپ ہر طرح سے مجھے یاد رکھتے ہیں۔ آپ نے روایات کو یوں محفوظ رکھا ہے جس طرح مَیں نے اُنہیں آپ کے سپرد کیا تھا۔

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

لیکن مَیں آپ کو ایک اَور بات سے آگاہ کرنا چاہتا ہوں۔ ہر مرد کا سر مسیح ہے جبکہ عورت کا سر مرد اور مسیح کا سر اللہ ہے۔

Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

اگر کوئی مرد سر ڈھانک کر دعا یا نبوّت کرے تو وہ اپنے سر کی بےعزتی کرتا ہے۔

But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

اور اگر کوئی خاتون ننگے سر دعا یا نبوّت کرے تو وہ اپنے سر کی بےعزتی کرتی ہے، گویا وہ سر مُنڈی ہے۔

For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

جو عورت اپنے سر پر دوپٹا نہیں لیتی وہ ٹِنڈ کروائے۔ لیکن اگر ٹِنڈ کروانا یا سر منڈوانا اُس کے لئے بےعزتی کا باعث ہے تو پھر وہ اپنے سر کو ضرور ڈھانکے۔

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

لیکن مرد کے لئے لازم ہے کہ وہ اپنے سر کو نہ ڈھانکے کیونکہ وہ اللہ کی صورت اور جلال کو منعکس کرتا ہے۔ لیکن عورت مرد کا جلال منعکس کرتی ہے،

For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.

کیونکہ پہلا مرد عورت سے نہیں نکلا بلکہ عورت مرد سے نکلی ہے۔

Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

مرد کو عورت کے لئے خلق نہیں کیا گیا بلکہ عورت کو مرد کے لئے۔

For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

اِس وجہ سے عورت فرشتوں کو پیشِ نظر رکھ کر اپنے سر پر دوپٹا لے جو اُس پر اختیار کا نشان ہے۔

Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

لیکن یاد رہے کہ خداوند میں نہ عورت مرد کے بغیر کچھ ہے اور نہ مرد عورت کے بغیر۔

For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

کیونکہ اگرچہ ابتدا میں عورت مرد سے نکلی، لیکن اب مرد عورت ہی سے پیدا ہوتا ہے۔ اور ہر شے اللہ سے نکلتی ہے۔

Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

آپ خود فیصلہ کریں۔ کیا مناسب ہے کہ کوئی عورت اللہ کے سامنے ننگے سر دعا کرے؟

Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

کیا فطرت بھی یہ نہیں سکھاتی کہ لمبے بال مرد کی بےعزتی کا باعث ہیں

But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

جبکہ عورت کے لمبے بال اُس کی عزت کا موجب ہیں؟ کیونکہ بال اُسے ڈھانپنے کے لئے دیئے گئے ہیں۔

But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

لیکن اِس سلسلے میں اگر کوئی جھگڑنے کا شوق رکھے تو جان لے کہ نہ ہمارا یہ دستور ہے، نہ اللہ کی جماعتوں کا۔

Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.

مَیں آپ کو ایک اَور ہدایت دیتا ہوں۔ لیکن اِس سلسلے میں میرے پاس آپ کے لئے تعریفی الفاظ نہیں، کیونکہ آپ کا جمع ہونا آپ کی بہتری کا باعث نہیں ہوتا بلکہ نقصان کا باعث۔

For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

اوّل تو مَیں سنتا ہوں کہ جب آپ جماعت کی صورت میں اکٹھے ہوتے ہیں تو آپ کے درمیان پارٹی بازی نظر آتی ہے۔ اور کسی حد تک مجھے اِس کا یقین بھی ہے۔

For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

لازم ہے کہ آپ کے درمیان مختلف پارٹیاں نظر آئیں تاکہ آپ میں سے وہ ظاہر ہو جائیں جو آزمانے کے بعد بھی سچے نکلیں۔

When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.

جب آپ جمع ہوتے ہیں تو جو کھانا آپ کھاتے ہیں اُس کا عشائے ربانی سے کوئی تعلق نہیں رہا۔

For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

کیونکہ ہر شخص دوسروں کا انتظار کئے بغیر اپنا کھانا کھانے لگتا ہے۔ نتیجے میں ایک بھوکا رہتا ہے جبکہ دوسرے کو نشہ ہو جاتا ہے۔

What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

تعجب ہے! کیا کھانے پینے کے لئے آپ کے گھر نہیں؟ یا کیا آپ اللہ کی جماعت کو حقیر جان کر اُن کو جو خالی ہاتھ آئے ہیں شرمندہ کرنا چاہتے ہیں؟ مَیں کیا کہوں؟ کیا آپ کو شاباش دوں؟ اِس میں مَیں آپ کو شاباش نہیں دے سکتا۔

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

کیونکہ جو کچھ مَیں نے آپ کے سپرد کیا ہے وہ مجھے خداوند ہی سے ملا ہے۔ جس رات خداوند عیسیٰ کو دشمن کے حوالے کر دیا گیا اُس نے روٹی لے کر

And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

شکرگزاری کی دعا کی اور اُسے ٹکڑے کر کے کہا، ”یہ میرا بدن ہے جو تمہارے لئے دیا جاتا ہے۔ مجھے یاد کرنے کے لئے یہی کیا کرو۔“

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

اِسی طرح اُس نے کھانے کے بعد پیالہ لے کر کہا، ”مَے کا یہ پیالہ وہ نیا عہد ہے جو میرے خون کے ذریعے قائم کیا جاتا ہے۔ جب کبھی اِسے پیؤ تو مجھے یاد کرنے کے لئے پیؤ۔“

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

کیونکہ جب بھی آپ یہ روٹی کھاتے اور یہ پیالہ پیتے ہیں تو خداوند کی موت کا اعلان کرتے ہیں، جب تک وہ واپس نہ آئے۔

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

چنانچہ جو نالائق طور پر خداوند کی روٹی کھائے اور اُس کا پیالہ پیئے وہ خداوند کے بدن اور خون کا گناہ کرتا ہے اور قصوروار ٹھہرے گا۔

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

ہر شخص اپنے آپ کو پرکھ کر ہی اِس روٹی میں سے کھائے اور پیالے میں سے پیئے۔

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

جو روٹی کھاتے اور پیالہ پیتے وقت خداوند کے بدن کا احترام نہیں کرتا وہ اپنے آپ پر اللہ کی عدالت لاتا ہے۔

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

اِسی لئے آپ کے درمیان بہتیرے کمزور اور بیمار ہیں بلکہ بہت سے موت کی نیند سو چکے ہیں۔

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

اگر ہم اپنے آپ کو جانچتے تو اللہ کی عدالت سے بچے رہتے۔

But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

لیکن خداوند ہماری عدالت کرنے سے ہماری تربیت کرتا ہے تاکہ ہم دنیا کے ساتھ مجرم نہ ٹھہریں۔

Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

غرض میرے بھائیو، جب آپ کھانے کے لئے جمع ہوتے ہیں تو ایک دوسرے کا انتظار کریں۔

And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

اگر کسی کو بھوک لگی ہو تو وہ اپنے گھر میں ہی کھانا کھا لے تاکہ آپ کا جمع ہونا آپ کی عدالت کا باعث نہ ٹھہرے۔ دیگر ہدایات مَیں آپ کو اُس وقت دوں گا جب آپ کے پاس آؤں گا۔
