Proverbs 19

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

Lepszy jest ubogi, który chodzi w uprzejmości swej, niżeli przewrotny w wargach swoich, który jest głupim.

Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

Zaiste duszy bez umiejętności nie dobrze, a kto jest prędkich nóg, potknie się.

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

Głupstwo człowiecze podwraca drogę jego, a przecie przeciwko Panu zapala się gniewem serce jego.

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

Bogactwa przyczyniają wiele przyjaciół; ale ubogi od przyjaciela swego odłączony bywa.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

Fałszywy świadek nie będzie bez pomsty; a kto mówi kłamstwo, nie ujdzie.

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

Wielu się ich uniża przed księciem, a każdy jest przyjacielem mężowi szczodremu.

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

Wszyscy bracia ubogiego nienawidzą go; daleko więcej inni przyjaciele jego oddalają się od niego; woła za nimi, a niemasz ich.

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

Nabywa rozumu, kto miłuje duszę swoję, a strzeże roztropności, aby znalazł co dobrego.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

Świadek fałszywy nie będzie bez pomsty; a kto mówi kłamstwo, zginie.

Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

Nie przystoi głupiemu rozkosz, ani słudze panować nad książętami.

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Rozum człowieczy zawściąga gniew jego, a ozdoba jego jest mijać przestępstwo.

The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

Zapalczywość królewska jest jako ryk lwięcia; ale łaska jego jest jako rosa na trawie.

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

Syn głupi jest utrapieniem ojcu swemu, a żona swarliwa jest jako ustawiczne kapanie przez dach.

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

Dom i majętność dziedzictwem przypada po rodzicach; ale żona roztropna jest od Pana.

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

Lenistwo przywodzi twardy sen, a dusza gnuśna będzie łaknęła.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Kto strzeże przykazania, strzeże duszy swojej; ale kto gardzi drogami swemi, zginie.

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Panu pożycza, kto ma litość nad ubogim, a on mu za dobrodziejstwo jego odda.

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Karz syna swego, póki o nim nadzieja, a zabiegając zginieniu jego niech mu nie folguje dusza twoja.

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

Wielki gniew okazuj, kiedy odpuszczasz karanie, grożąc mu, ponieważ odpuszczasz, że potem srożej karać będziesz.

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Słuchaj rady, a przyjmuj karność, abyś kiedyżkolwiek był mądrym.

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Wiele jest myśli w sercu człowieczem; ale rada Pańska, ta się ostoi.

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

Pożądana rzecz człowiekowi dobroczynność jego, ale lepszy jest ubogi, niż mąż kłamliwy.

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Bojażń Pańska prowadzi do żywota, a kto ją ma, w obfitości mieszka, i nie spotka go nieszczęście.

A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

Leniwy kryje rękę swą pod pachę, i do ust swych nie podnosi jej.

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

Bij naśmiewcę, żeby prostak był ostrożniejszym; a roztropnego sfukaj, żeby zrozumiał umiejętność.

He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

Syn wstyd i hańbę zadawający, ojca gubi i matkę wygania.

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

Synu mój! przestań słuchać nauki, któraby cię odwodziła od mów rozumnych.

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

Świadek złośliwy pośmiewa się z sądu, a usta niezbożnych połykają nieprawość.

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

Sądy są na pośmiewców zgotowane, a guzy na grzbiet głupich.
