Psalms 104

Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

Anima mia, benedici l’Eterno! O Eterno, mio Dio, tu sei sommamente grande; sei vestito di splendore e di maestà.

Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

Egli s’ammanta di luce come d’una veste; distende i cieli come un padiglione;

Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

egli costruisce le sue alte stanze nelle acque; fa delle nuvole il suo carro, s’avanza sulle ali del vento;

Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

fa dei venti i suoi messaggeri, delle fiamme di fuoco i suoi ministri.

Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

Egli ha fondato la terra sulle sue basi; non sarà smossa mai in perpetuo.

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.

Tu l’avevi coperta dell’abisso come d’una veste, le acque s’erano fermate sui monti.

At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

Alla tua minaccia esse si ritirarono, alla voce del tuo tuono fuggirono spaventate.

They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.

Le montagne sorsero, le valli s’abbassarono nel luogo che tu avevi stabilito per loro.

Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

Tu hai posto alle acque un limite che non trapasseranno; esse non torneranno a coprire la terra.

He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.

Egli manda fonti nelle valli, ed esse scorrono fra le montagne;

They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.

abbeverano tutte le bestie della campagna, gli asini selvatici vi si dissetano.

By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.

Presso a quelle si riparano gli uccelli del cielo; di mezzo alle fronde fanno udir la loro voce.

He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.

Egli adacqua i monti dall’alto delle sue stanze, la terra è saziata col frutto delle tue opere.

He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

Egli fa germogliar l’erba per il bestiame e le piante per il servizio dell’uomo, facendo uscir dalla terra il nutrimento,

And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

e il vino che rallegra il cuor dell’uomo, e l’olio che gli fa risplender la faccia, e il pane che sostenta il cuore dei mortali.

The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

Gli alberi dell’Eterno sono saziati, i cedri del Libano, ch’egli ha piantati.

Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.

Gli uccelli vi fanno i loro nidi; la cicogna fa dei cipressi la sua dimora;

The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.

le alte montagne son per i camosci, le rocce sono il rifugio de’ conigli.

He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.

Egli ha fatto la luna per le stagioni; il sole conosce il suo tramonto.

Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.

Tu mandi le tenebre e vien la notte, nella quale tutte le bestie delle foreste si mettono in moto.

The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.

I leoncelli ruggono dietro la preda e chiedono il loro pasto a Dio.

The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.

Si leva il sole, esse si ritirano e vanno a giacere nei loro covi.

Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

L’uomo esce all’opera sua e al suo lavoro fino alla sera.

O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

Quanto son numerose le tue opere, o Eterno! Tu le hai fatte tutte con sapienza; la terra è piena delle tue ricchezze.

So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.

Ecco il mare, grande ed ampio, dove si muovon creature senza numero, animali piccoli e grandi.

There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.

Là vogano le navi e quel leviatan che hai creato per scherzare in esso.

These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.

Tutti quanti sperano in te che tu dia loro il lor cibo a suo tempo.

That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.

Tu lo dài loro ed essi lo raccolgono; tu apri la mano ed essi son saziati di beni.

Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

Tu nascondi la tua faccia, essi sono smarriti; tu ritiri il loro fiato, ed essi muoiono e tornano nella loro polvere.

Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.

Tu mandi il tuo spirito, essi sono creati, e tu rinnovi la faccia della terra.

The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.

Duri in perpetuo la gloria dell’Eterno, si rallegri l’Eterno nelle opere sue!

He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.

Egli riguarda la terra, ed essa trema; egli tocca i monti, ed essi fumano.

I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

Io canterò all’Eterno finché io viva; salmeggerò al mio Dio finché io esista.

My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

Possa la mia meditazione essergli gradita! Io mi rallegrerò nell’Eterno.

Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.

Spariscano i peccatori dalla terra, e gli empi non siano più! Anima mia, benedici l’Eterno. Alleluia.
