Job 22

Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

फिर तेमान नगर के एलीपज ने उत्तर देते हुए कहा:

Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

“परमेश्वर को कोई भी व्यक्ति सहारा नहीं दे सकता, यहाँ तक की वह भी जो बहुत बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति हो परमेश्वर के लिये हितकर नहीं हो सकता।

Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?

यदि तूने वही किया जो उचित था तो इससे सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर को आनन्द नहीं मिलेगा, और यदि तू सदा खरा रहा तो इससे उसको कुछ नहीं मिलेगा।

Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?

अय्यूब, तुझको परमेश्वर क्यों दण्ड देता है और क्यों तुझ पर दोष लगाता है क्या इसलिए कि तू उसका सम्मान नहीं करता

Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?

नहीं, ये इसलिए की तूने बहुत से पाप किये हैं, अय्यूब, तेरे पाप नहीं रुकते हैं।

For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

अय्यूब, सम्भव है कि तूने अपने किसी भाई को कुछ धन दिया हो, और उसको दबाया हो कि वह कुछ गिरवी रख दे ताकि ये प्रमाणित हो सके कि वह तेरा धन वापस करेगा। सम्भव है किसी दीन के कर्जे के बदले तूने कपड़े गिरवी रख लिये हों, सम्भव है तूने वह व्यर्थ ही किया हो।

Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

तूने थके—मांदे को जल नहीं दिया, तूने भूखों के लिये भोजन नहीं दिया।

But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.

अय्यूब, यद्यपि तू शक्तिशाली और धनी था, तूने उन लोगों को सहारा नहीं दिया। तू बड़ा जमींदार और सामर्थी पुरुष था,

Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

किन्तु तूने विधवाओं को बिना कुछ दिये लौटा दिया। अय्यूब, तूने अनाथ बच्चों को लूट लिया और उनसे बुरा व्यवहार किया।

Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;

इसलिए तेरे चारों तरफ जाल बिछे हुए हैं और तुझ को अचान्क आती विपत्तियाँ डराती हैं।

Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.

इसलिए इतना अंधकार है कि तुझे सूझ पड़ता है और इसलिए बाढ़ का पानी तुझे निगल रहा है।

Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

“परमेश्वर आकाश के उच्चतम भाग में रहता है, वह सर्वोच्च तारों के नीचे देखता है, तू देख सकता है कि तारे कितने ऊँचे हैं।

And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?

किन्तु अय्यूब, तू तो कहा करता है कि परमेश्वर कुछ नहीं जानता, काले बादलों से कैसे परमेश्वर हमें जाँच सकता है

Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

घने बादल उसे छुपा लेते हैं, इसलिये जब वह आकाश के उच्चतम भाग में विचरता है तो हमें ऊपर आकाश से देख नहीं सकता।

Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

“अय्यूब, तू उस ही पुरानी राह पर जिन पर दुष्ट लोग चला करते हैं, चल रहा है।

Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:

अपनी मृत्यु के समय से पहले ही दुष्ट लोग उठा लिये गये, बाढ़ उनको बहा कर ले गयी थी।

Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?

ये वही लोग है जो परमेश्वर से कहते हैं कि हमें अकेला छोड़ दो, सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर हमारा कुछ नहीं कर सकता है।

Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

किन्तु परमेश्वर ने उन लोगों को सफल बनाया है और उन्हें धनवान बना दिया। किन्तु मैं वह ढंग से जिससे दुष्ट सोचते हैं, अपना नहीं सकता हूँ।

The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

सज्जन जब बुरे लोगों का नाश देखते हैं, तो वे प्रसन्न होते है। पापरहित लोग दुष्टों पर हँसते है और कहा करते हैं,

Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.

‘हमारे शत्रु सचमुच नष्ट हो गये! आग उनके धन को जला देती है।

Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

“अय्यूब, अब स्वयं को तू परमेश्वर को अर्पित कर दे, तब तू शांति पायेगा। यदि तू ऐसा करे तो तू धन्य और सफल हो जायेगा।

Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.

उसकी सीख अपना ले, और उसके शब्द निज मन में सुरक्षित रख।

If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.

अय्यूब, यदि तू फिर सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर के पास आये तो फिर से पहले जैसा हो जायेगा। तुझको अपने घर से पाप को बहुत दूर करना चाहिए।

Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

तुझको चाहिये कि तू निज सोना धूल में और निज ओपीर का कुन्दन नदी में चट्टानो पर फेंक दे।

Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

तब सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर तेरे लिये सोना और चाँदी बन जायेगा।

For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

तब तू अति प्रसन्न होगा और तुझे सुख मिलेगा। परमेश्वर के सामने तू बिना किसी शर्म के सिर उठा सकेगा।

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.

जब तू उसकी विनती करेगा तो वह तेरी सुना करेगा, जो प्रतिज्ञा तूने उससे की थी, तू उसे पूरा कर सकेगा।

Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

जो कुछ तू करेगा उसमें तुझे सफलता मिलेगी, तेरे मार्ग पर प्रकाश चमकेगा।

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

परमेश्वर अहंकारी जन को लज्जित करेगा, किन्तु परमेश्वर नम्र व्यक्ति की रक्षा करेगा।

He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

परमेश्वर जो मनुष्य भोला नहीं है उसकी भी रक्षा करेगा, तेरे हाथों की स्वच्छता से उसको उद्धार मिलेगा।”
