Proverbs 24

Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

Beneide nicht böse Menschen, und laß dich nicht gelüsten, mit ihnen zu sein;

For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

denn ihr Herz sinnt auf Gewalttat, und ihre Lippen reden Mühsal.

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

Durch Weisheit wird ein Haus gebaut, und durch Verstand wird es befestigt;

And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

und durch Erkenntnis füllen sich die Kammern mit allerlei kostbarem und lieblichem Gut.

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

Ein weiser Mann ist stark, und ein Mann von Erkenntnis befestigt seine Kraft.

For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Denn mit weiser Überlegung wirst du glücklich Krieg führen, und bei der Ratgeber Menge ist Heil.

Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

Weisheit ist dem Narren zu hoch, im Tore tut er seinen Mund nicht auf.

He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

Wer darauf sinnt, Böses zu tun, den nennt man einen Ränkeschmied.

The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

Das Vorhaben der Narrheit ist die Sünde, und der Spötter ist den Menschen ein Greuel.

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

Zeigst du dich schlaff am Tage der Drangsal, so ist deine Kraft gering.

If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

Errette, die zum Tode geschleppt werden, und die zur Würgung hinwanken, o halte sie zurück!

If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

Wenn du sprichst: Siehe, wir wußten nichts davon-wird nicht er, der die Herzen wägt, es merken? Und er, der auf deine Seele achthat, es wissen? und er wird dem Menschen vergelten nach seinem Tun.

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

Iß Honig, mein Sohn, denn er ist gut, und Honigseim ist deinem Gaumen süß.

So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Ebenso betrachte die Weisheit für deine Seele: wenn du sie gefunden hast, so gibt es eine Zukunft, und deine Hoffnung wird nicht vernichtet werden.

Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

Laure nicht, Gesetzloser, auf die Wohnung des Gerechten, zerstöre nicht seine Lagerstätte.

For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Denn der Gerechte fällt siebenmal und steht wieder auf, aber die Gesetzlosen stürzen nieder im Unglück.

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

Freue dich nicht über den Fall deines Feindes, und dein Herz frohlocke nicht über seinen Sturz:

Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

damit Jehova es nicht sehe, und es böse sei in seinen Augen, und er seinen Zorn von ihm abwende.

Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;

Erzürne dich nicht über die Übeltäter, beneide nicht die Gesetzlosen;

For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

denn für den Bösen wird keine Zukunft sein, die Leuchte der Gesetzlosen wird erlöschen.

My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

Mein Sohn, fürchte Jehova und den König; mit Aufrührern laß dich nicht ein.

For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

Denn plötzlich erhebt sich ihr Verderben; und ihrer beider Untergang, wer weiß ihn?

These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

Auch diese sind von den Weisen: Die Person ansehen im Gericht ist nicht gut.

He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

Wer zu dem Gesetzlosen spricht: Du bist gerecht, den verfluchen die Völker, den verwünschen die Völkerschaften;

But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

denen aber, welche gerecht entscheiden, geht es wohl, und über sie kommt Segnung des Guten.

Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.

Die Lippen küßt, wer richtige Antwort gibt.

Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

Besorge draußen deine Arbeit und bestelle sie dir auf dem Felde; hernach magst du dann dein Haus bauen.

Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

Werde nicht ohne Ursache Zeuge wider deinen Nächsten; wolltest du denn täuschen mit deinen Lippen?

Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

Sprich nicht: Wie er mir getan hat, so will ich ihm tun, will dem Manne vergelten nach seinem Werke.

I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

An dem Acker eines faulen Mannes kam ich vorüber, und an dem Weinberge eines unverständigen Menschen.

And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

Und siehe, er war ganz mit Disteln überwachsen, seine Fläche war mit Brennesseln bedeckt, und seine steinerne Mauer eingerissen.

Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

Und ich schaute es, ich richtete mein Herz darauf; ich sah es, empfing Unterweisung:

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

Ein wenig Schlaf, ein wenig Schlummer, ein wenig Händefalten, um auszuruhen-

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

und deine Armut kommt herangeschritten, und deine Not wie ein gewappneter Mann.
