Job 19

Then Job answered and said,

Job progovori i reče:

How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?

"TÓa dokle ćete mučit' dušu moju, dokle ćete me riječima satirat'?

These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.

Već deseti put pogrdiste mene i stid vas nije što me zlostavljate.

And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.

Pa ako sam zastranio doista, na meni moja zabluda ostaje.

If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:

Mislite li da ste me nadjačali i krivnju moju da ste dokazali?

Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

Znajte: Bog je to mene pritisnuo i svojom me je on stegnuo mrežom.

Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

Vičem: 'Nasilje!' - nema odgovora; vapijem - ali za me pravde nema.

He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

Sa svih strana put mi je zagradio, sve staze moje u tminu zavio.

He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

Slavu je moju sa mene skinuo, sa moje glave strgnuo je krunu.

He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

Podsijeca me odasvud te nestajem; k'o drvo, nadu mi je iščupao.

He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.

Raspalio se gnjev njegov na mene i svojim me drži neprijateljem.

His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.

U bojnom redu pristižu mu čete, putove proti meni nasipaju, odasvud moj opkoljavaju šator.

He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

Od mene su se udaljila braća, otuđili se moji poznanici.

My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

Nestade bližnjih mojih i znanaca, gosti doma mog zaboraviše me.

They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

Sluškinjama sam svojim kao stranac, neznanac sam u njihovim očima.

I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

Slugu zovnem, a on ne odgovara i za milost ga moram zaklinjati.

My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.

Mojoj je ženi dah moj omrznuo, gadim se djeci vlastite utrobe.

Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.

I deranima na prezir tek služim, ako se dignem, rugaju se meni.

All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

Pouzdanicima sam svojim mrzak, protiv mene su oni koje ljubljah.

My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

Kosti mi se za kožu prilijepiše, osta mi jedva koža oko zuba.

Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

Smilujte mi se, prijatelji moji, jer Božja me je ruka udarila.

Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

Zašto da me k'o Bog sam progonite, zar se niste moga nasitili mesa?

Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!

O, kad bi se riječi moje zapisale i kad bi se u mjed tvrdu urezale;

That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!

kad bi se željeznim dlijetom i olovom u spomen vječan u stijenu uklesale!

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Ja znadem dobro: moj Izbavitelj živi i posljednji će on nad zemljom ustati.

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

A kad se probudim, k sebi će me dići: iz svoje ću puti tad vidjeti Boga.

Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

Njega ja ću kao svojega gledati, i očima mojim neće biti stranac: za njime srce mi čezne u grudima.

But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?

Kad kažete: 'Kako ćemo ga goniti? Koji ćemo razlog protiv njega naći?',

Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.

mača tad se bojte: grijehu mač je kazna. Saznat ćete tada da imade suda!"
