Job 18

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

Bildad iz Šuaha progovori tad i reče:

How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.

"Kada kaniš obuzdat' svoje besjede? Opameti se sad da razgovaramo!

Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?

Zašto nas držiš za stoku nerazumnu, zar smo životinje u tvojim očima?

He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?

O ti, koji se od jarosti razdireš, hoćeš li da zemlja zbog tebe opusti da iz svoga mjesta iskoče pećine?

Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.

Al' ugasit će se svjetlost opakoga, i neće mu sjati plamen na ognjištu.

The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.

Potamnjet će svjetlo u njegovu šatoru i nad njime će se utrnut' svjetiljka.

The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

Krepki mu koraci postaju sputani, o vlastite on se spotiče namjere.

For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.

Jer njegove noge vode ga u zamku, i evo ga gdje već korača po mreži.

The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.

Tanka mu je zamka nogu uhvatila, i evo, užeta čvrsto ga pritežu.

The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.

Njega vreba omča skrivena na zemlji, njega čeka klopka putem kojim hodi.

Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.

Odasvuda strahovi ga prepadaju, ustopice sveudilj ga proganjaju.

His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.

Glad je požderala svu snagu njegovu, nesreća je uvijek o njegovu boku.

It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.

Boleština kobna kožu mu razjeda, prvenac mu smrti nagriza udove.

His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.

Njega izvlače iz šatora njegova da bi ga odveli vladaru strahota.

It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

U njegovu stanu tuđinac stanuje, po njegovu domu prosipaju sumpor.

His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.

Odozdo se suši njegovo korijenje, a odozgo grane sve mu redom sahnu.

His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.

Spomen će se njegov zatrti na zemlji, njegovo se ime s lica zemlje briše.

He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

Iz svjetlosti njega u tminu tjeraju, izagnat' ga hoće iz kruga zemaljskog.

He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.

U rodu mu nema roda ni poroda, nit' preživjela na njegovu ognjištu.

They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.

Sudba je njegova Zapad osupnula, i čitav je Istok obuzela strepnja.

Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.

Evo, takav usud snalazi zlikovca i dom onog koji ne priznaje Boga."
