Job 40

यहोवा ने अय्यूब से कहा:

Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

“अय्यूब तूने सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर से तर्क किया। तूने बुरे काम करने का मुझे दोषी ठहराया। अब तू मुझको उत्तर दे।”

Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

इस पर अय्यूब ने उत्तर देते हुए परमेश्वर से कहा:

Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

“मैं तो कुछ कहने के लिये बहुत ही तुच्छ हूँ। मैं तुझसे क्या कह सकता हूँ? मैं तुझे कोई उत्तर नहीं दे सकता। मैं अपना हाथ अपने मुख पर रख लूँगा।

Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

मैंने एक बार कहा किन्तु अब मैं उत्तर नहीं दूँगा। फिर मैंने दोबारा कहा किन्तु अब और कुछ नहीं बोलूँगा।”

Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

इसके बाद यहोवा ने आँधी में बोलते हुए अय्यूब से कहा:

Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

अय्यूब, तू पुरुष की तरह खड़ा हो, मैं तुझ से कुछ प्रश्न पूछूँगा और तू उन प्रश्नों का उत्तर मुझे देगा।

Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

अय्यूब क्या तू सोचता है कि मैं न्यायपूर्ण नहीं हूँ? क्या तू मुझे बुरा काम करने का दोषी मानता है ताकि तू यह दिखा सके कि तू उचित है?

Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

अय्यूब, बता क्या मेरे शस्त्र इतने शक्तिशाली हैं जितने कि मेरे शस्त्र हैं? क्या तू अपनी वाणी को उतना ऊँचा गरजा सकता है जितनी मेरी वाणी है?

Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

यदि तू वैसा कर सकता है तो तू स्वयं को आदर और महिमा दे तथा महिमा और उज्वलता को उसी प्रकार धारण कर जैसे कोई वस्त्र धारण करता है।

Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

अय्यूब, यदि तू मेरे समान है, तो अभिमानी लोगों से घृणा कर। अय्यूब, तू उन अहंकारी लोगों पर अपना क्रोध बरसा और उन्हें तू विनम्र बना दे।

Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

हाँ, अय्यूब उन अहंकारी लोगों को देख और तू उन्हें विनम्र बना दे। उन दुष्टों को तू कुचल दे जहाँ भी वे खड़े हों।

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

तू सभी अभिमानियों को मिट्टी में गाड़ दे और उनकी देहों पर कफन लपेट कर तू उनको उनकी कब्रों में रख दे।

Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

अय्यूब, यदि तू इन सब बातों को कर सकता है तो मैं यह तेरे सामने स्वीकार करूँगा कि तू स्वयं को बचा सकता है।

Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

“अय्यूब, देख तू, उस जलगज को मैंने (परमेश्वर) ने बनाया है और मैंने ही तुझे बनाया है। जलगज उसी प्रकार घास खाती है, जैसे गाय घास खाती है।

Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

जलगज के शरीर में बहुत शक्ति होती है। उसके पेट की माँसपेशियाँ बहुत शक्तिशाली होती हैं।

Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

जलगज की पूँछ दृढ़ता से ऐसी रहती है जैसा देवदार का वृक्ष खड़ा रहता है। उसके पैर की माँसपेशियाँ बहुत सुदृढ़ होती हैं।

He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

जलगज की हड्‌डियाँ काँसे की भाँति सुदृढ़ होती है, और पाँव उसके लोहे की छड़ों जैसे।

His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

जलगज पहला पशु है जिसे मैंने (परमेश्वर) बनाया है किन्तु मैं उस को हरा सकता हूँ।

He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

जलगज जो भोजन करता है उसे उसको वे पहाड़ देते हैं जहाँ बनैले पशु विचरते हैं।

Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

जलगज कमल के पौधे के नीचे पड़ा रहता है और कीचड़ में सरकण्ड़ों की आड़ में छिपा रहता है।

He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

कमल के पौधे जलगज को अपनी छाया में छिपाते है। वह बाँस के पेड़ों के तले रहता हैं, जो नदी के पास उगा करते है।

The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

यदि नदी में बाढ़ आ जाये तो भी जल गज भागता नहीं है। यदि यरदन नदी भी उसके मुख पर थपेड़े मारे तो भी वह डरता नहीं है।

Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

जल गज की आँखों को कोई नहीं फोड़ सकता है और उसे कोई भी जाल में नहीं फँसा सकता।

He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
