I Corinthians 11

सो तुम लोग वैसे ही मेरा अनुसरण करो जैसे मैं मसीह का अनुसरण करता हूँ।

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

मैं तुम्हारी प्रशंसा करता हूँ। क्योंकि तुम मुझे हर समय याद करते रहते हो; और जो शिक्षाएँ मैंने तुम्हें दी हैं, उनका सावधानी से पालन कर रहे हो।

Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

पर मैं चाहता हूँ कि तुम यह जान लो कि स्त्री का सिर पुरुष है, पुरुष का सिर मसीह है, और मसीह का सिर परमेश्वर है।

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

हर ऐसा पुरुष जो सिर ढक कर प्रार्थना करता है या परमेश्वर की ओर से बोलता है, वह परमेश्वर का अपमान करता है जो अपना सिर है।

Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

पर हर ऐसी स्त्री जो बिना सिर ढके प्रार्थना करती है या जनता में परमेश्वर की ओर से बोलती है, वह अपने पुरुष का अपमान करती है जो उसका सिर है। वह ठीक उस स्त्री के समान है जिसने अपना सिर मुँडवा दिया है।

But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

यदि कोई स्त्री अपना सिर नहीं ढकती तो वह अपने बाल भी क्यों नहीं मुँडवा लेती। किन्तु यदि स्त्री के लिये बाल मुँडवाना लज्जा की बात है तो उसे अपना सिर भी ढकना चाहिये।

For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

किन्तु पुरुष के लिये अपना सिर ढकना उचित नहीं है क्योंकि वह परमेश्वर के स्वरूप और महिमा का प्रतिबिम्ब है। किन्तु एक स्त्री अपने पुरुष की महिमा को प्रतिबिंबित करती है।

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

मैं ऐसा इसलिए कहता हूँ क्योंकि पुरुष किसी स्त्री से नहीं, बल्कि स्त्री पुरुष से बनी है।

For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.

पुरुष स्त्री के लिये नहीं रचा गया बल्कि स्त्री की रचना पुरुष के लिये की गयी है।

Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

इसलिए परमेश्वर ने उसे जो अधिकार दिया है, उसके प्रतीक रूप में स्त्री को चाहिये कि वह अपना सिर ढके। उसे स्वर्गदूतों के कारण भी ऐसा करना चाहिये।

For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

फिर भी प्रभु में न तो स्त्री पुरुष से स्वतन्त्र है और न ही पुरुष स्त्री से।

Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

क्योंकि जैसे पुरुष से स्त्री आयी, वैसे ही स्त्री ने पुरुष को जन्म दिया। किन्तु सब कोई परमेश्वर से आते हैं।

For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

स्वयं निर्णय करो। क्या जनता के बीच एक स्त्री का सिर उघाड़े परमेश्वर की प्रार्थना करना अच्छा लगता है?

Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

क्या स्वयं प्रकृति तुम्हें नहीं सिखाती कि यदि कोई पुरुष अपने बाल लम्बे बढ़ने दे तो यह उसके लिए लज्जा की बात है,

Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

और यह कि एक स्त्री के लिए यही उसकी शोभा है? वास्तव में उसे उसके लम्बे बाल एक प्राकृतिक ओढ़नी के रूप में दिये गये हैं।

But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

अब इस पर यदि कोई विवाद करना चाहे तो मुझे कहना होगा कि न तो हमारे यहाँ कोई एसी प्रथा है और न ही परमेश्वर की कलीसिया में।

But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

अब यह अगला आदेश देते हुए मैं तुम्हारी प्रशंसा नहीं कर रहा हूँ क्योंकि तुम्हारा आपस में मिलना तुम्हारा भला करने की बजाय तुम्हें हानि पहुँचा रहा है।

Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.

सबसे पहले यह कि मैंने सुना है कि तुम लोग सभा में जब परस्पर मिलते हो तो हुम्हारे बीच मतभेद रहता है। कुछ अंश तक मैं इस पर विश्वास भी करता हूँ।

For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

आखिरकार तुम्हारे बीच मतभेद भी होंगे ही। जिससे कि तुम्हारे बीच में जो उचित ठहराया गया है, वह सामने आ जाये।

For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

सो जब तुम आपस में इकट्ठे होते हो तो सचमुच प्रभु का भोज पाने के लिये नहीं इकट्ठे होते,

When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.

बल्कि जब तुम भोज ग्रहण करते हो तो तुममें से हर कोई आगे बढ़ कर अपने ही खाने पर टूट पड़ता है। और बस कोई व्यक्ति तो भूखा ही चला जाता है, जब कि कोई व्यक्ति अत्यधिक खा-पी कर मस्त हो जाता है।

For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

क्या तुम्हारे पास खाने पीने के लिये अपने घर नहीं हैं। अथवा इस प्रकार तुम परमेश्वर की कलीसिया का अनादर नहीं करते? और जो दीन है उनका तिरस्कार करने की चेष्टा नहीं करते? मैं तुमसे क्या कहूँ? इसके लिये क्या मैं तुम्हारी प्रशंसा करूँ। इस विषय में मैं तुम्हारी प्रशंसा नहीं करूँगा।

What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

क्योंकि जो सीख मैंने तुम्हें दी है, वह मुझे प्रभु से मिली थी। प्रभु यीशु ने उस रात, जब उसे मरवा डालने के लिये पकड़वाया गया था, एक रोटी ली

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

और धन्यवाद देने के बाद उसने उसे तोड़ा और कहा, “यह मेरा शरीर है, जो तुम्हारे लिए है। मुझे याद करने के लिये तुम ऐसा ही किया करो।”

And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

उनके भोजन कर चुकने के बाद इसी प्रकार उसने प्याला उठाया और कहा, “यह प्याला मेरे लहू के द्वारा किया गया एक नया वाचा है। जब कभी तुम इसे पिओ तभी मुझे याद करने के लिये ऐसा करो।”

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

क्योंकि जितनी बार भी तुम इस रोटी को खाते हो और इस प्याले को पीते हो, उतनी ही बार जब तक वह आ नहीं जाता, तुम प्रभु की मृत्यु का प्रचार करते हो।

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

अतः जो कोई भी प्रभु की रोटी या प्रभु के प्याले को अनुचित रीति से खाता पीता है, वह प्रभु की देह और उस के लहू के प्रति अपराधी होगा।

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

व्यक्ति को चाहिये कि वह पहले अपने को परखे और तब इस रोटी को खाये और इस प्याले को पिये।

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

क्योंकि प्रभु के देह का अर्थ समझे बिना जो इस रोटी को खाता और इस प्याले को पीता है, वह इस प्रकार खा-पी कर अपने ऊपर दण्ड को बुलाता है।

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

इसलिए तो तुममें से बहुत से लोग दुर्बल हैं, बीमार हैं और बहुत से तो चिरनिद्रा में सो गये हैं।

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

किन्तु यदि हमने अपने आप को अच्छी तरह से परख लिया होता तो हमें प्रभु का दण्ड न भोगना पड़ता।

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

प्रभु हमें अनुशासित करने के लिये दण्ड देता है। ताकि हमें संसार के साथ दंडित न किया जाये।

But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

इसलिए हे मेरे भाईयों, जब भोजन करने तुम इकट्ठे होते हो तो परस्पर एक दूसरे की प्रतिक्षा करो।

Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

यदि सचमुच किसी को बहुत भूख लगी हो तो उसे घर पर ही खा लेना चाहिये ताकि तुम्हारा एकत्र होना तुम्हारे लिये दण्ड का कारण न बने। अस्तु; दूसरी बातों को जब मैं आऊँगा, तभी सुलझाऊँगा।

And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
