Job 22

Ekparolis Elifaz, la Temanano, kaj diris:

Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

Ĉu Dion povas instrui homo? Ĉu povas Lin instrui eĉ saĝulo?

Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

Ĉu por la Plejpotenculo tio estas utila, se vi estas virta? Kaj ĉu Li havas profiton de tio, se via konduto estas pia?

Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?

Ĉu pro timo antaŭ vi Li disputos kun vi, Iros kun vi al juĝo?

Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?

Via malvirteco estas ja granda, Kaj viaj malbonagoj ne havas finon.

Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?

Vi prenis de viaj fratoj garantiaĵon vane, De preskaŭ-nuduloj vi deprenis la vestojn;

For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

Al laculo vi ne donis akvon por trinki, Kaj al malsatulo vi rifuzis panon;

Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

Per forta brako vi akiris teron, Kaj dank’ al eminenteco vi loĝis sur ĝi;

But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.

Vidvinojn vi foririgis kun nenio, Kaj la brakojn de orfoj vi frakasis.

Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

Pro tio ĉirkaŭe de vi estas kaptiloj, Kaj subita teruro vin timigas.

Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;

Aŭ pro mallumo vi nenion vidas, Kaj multego da akvo vin kovris?

Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.

Ĉu ne estas Dio tie alte en la ĉielo? Rigardu la stelojn, kiel alte ili estas.

Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

Kaj vi diras: Kion scias Dio? Ĉu Li povas juĝi en mallumo?

And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?

La nuboj kovras Lin, kaj Li ne vidas; Kaj Li nur rondiras en la rondo de la ĉielo.

Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

Ĉu vi konservas la vojon antikvan, Kiun iradis homoj malpiaj,

Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

Kiuj estis kaptitaj antaŭtempe, Kaj kies grundo disverŝiĝis kiel rivero,

Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:

Kiuj parolis al Dio: Foriru de ni! Kion povas fari al ni la Plejpotenculo?

Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?

Kvankam Li plenigis iliajn domojn per bonaĵo. Sed la pensmaniero de malvirtuloj estas malproksima de mi.

Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

La virtuloj vidos kaj ĝojos; La senkulpulo mokos ilin:

The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

Certe malaperis nia kontraŭulo, Kaj kio restis, tion ekstermis fajro.

Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.

Interkonsentu do kun Li, kaj vi havos pacon; Per tio venos al vi bono.

Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

Prenu el Lia buŝo instruon, Kaj metu Liajn vortojn en vian koron.

Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.

Se vi revenos al la Plejpotenculo, vi estos konstruita; Forigu malpiaĵon el via tendo.

If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.

Ĵetu en la polvon la multekostan metalon, Kaj la Ofiran oron sur la ŝtonojn de la torentoj;

Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

Tiam la Plejpotenculo estos via oro kaj via brilanta arĝento;

Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

Ĉar tiam vi havos vian plezuron en la Plejpotenculo, Kaj vi levos al Dio vian vizaĝon;

For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

Vi preĝos al Li, kaj Li vin aŭskultos; Kaj viajn sanktajn promesojn vi plenumos;

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.

Se vi ion decidos, ĝi plenumiĝos ĉe vi; Kaj super viaj vojoj brilos lumo.

Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

Ĉar tiujn, kiuj humiliĝis, Li altigos; Kaj kiu mallevas la okulojn, tiu estos savita.

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

Ankaŭ tiun, kiu ne estis senkulpa, Li savos; Tia estos savita pro la pureco de viaj manoj.

He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
